1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.

Avatar f tn (let me apologize in advance if this msg is jumbled, confusing, and my grammar is poor... some of my family members think the TV should be loud enough so the people in the house beside us can hear it) Hi everyone. I'm new to the website but thought it may be a great place to ask my question. Okay, so here's the situation. 8 years ago while crossing the street I was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver.

Avatar m tn after one month, she can make a fist with her left hand, but no movement in the left leg at all and she needs assistance to even sit upright. She has no other health issues and is eating like a horse, but is still requiring a 24 hour 2 person assist. Is there any chance she will regain use of her left leg at this age and the fact that there has been no progression with the leg in a month?
Avatar n tn The standard response is that the brain cells that were just knocked unconscious usually come back in six months. The recovery of functions that were controlled by the now dead brain cells will require your brain to work on neuroplasticity, basically moving control to another part of your brain. That change can take a long time, I have heard of cases 15-20 years after a stroke and recovery can still take place.
Avatar m tn I had awful bone pain when I was on Neupogen. I've always contended for me, the side effects from Neupogen were as bad if not worse than those from antiviral therapy. It stimulates the colonies of white stem cells within the bone marrow causing the level of neutrophils in the blood to rise. It is common to have aching bones and joints for 2-3 days duration starting 1-2 days after the start of the injections.
Avatar f tn I had Bilateral Inguinal Hernia Repair in 2012. It was a very painful recovery. The doc prescribed Vicoprophen for 1 month with a refill. I only took for 3 days and tossed the rest. It was painful yes, but I remembered how painful the detox was years ago and decided the pain from the surgery wasnt as bad as pain accompanied with all the other stuff that comes with detox. (Sleepless night, bathroom issues, depression, anxiety, restless leg, nausea, etc...etc) Good luck with the surgery...
Avatar m tn My 6 yr old female cat jumped from a tree branch about 5 ft high. She is always jumping up onto ledges or down from them, she jumps very high, always climbing trees, etc. Anyway, her front paw is now swollen and she will not walk on it, she limps all around. She does not seem to be in pain, she still goes up and down the steps and jumps on and off the furniture and beds, going to the food dish etc.

Avatar n tn I was given the choice to do a cast or metal rod with pins through my leg for a speedy recovery in witch i choose. It was put through the lower part of my leg down to my ankle Big mistake! I can't even walk a mile without my leg killing me. Hurts from my Knee down to where there is a small bump (feels like bone) on top of my ankle. I need to know if the rod and pins can be removed? If so how fast is the recovery and will the pain go away?
Avatar f tn This doctor did a phenomenal job in operating one my leg - I grew an inch on the operating table as the dislocation had caused the broken bone to grown back shorter. Post-op he told me that I had walked through all of the cartilage in my ankle, he said they created scar tissue to try to compensate for this lack of padding. I completed PT as requested and for a time had great relief from the pain in my leg; however, the swelling never went down.
Avatar m tn Sometimes the patient will have some soreness at the site of penetration, but the duration of your discomfort is longer than normal when there is some delay of recovery. You may want to get a followup consultation and exam to rule out any clot formation or infection. Thanks for the question and if you have any followup questions or comments you are welcome to respond. Take care and wish you well going forward. Take care.

Avatar m tn I have undiagnosed nervous system disorder and I get this actually but more in the groin, and down my left leg, numbness and not being able to tell if someone touches my leg or not. It certainly could be the after affects of the accident it will take a long time for all the nerves to heal, and it oculd be the results of the brain hemoraghe or just that the accident has caused some spinal cord trauma.
Avatar n tn I have tiny clear subcutaneous vesicles all over my forearm and leg. They have clear fluid and can be broken easily by pressing and scratching. They are not itchy nor red nor painful. Totally symptomless. Just multiple vesicles of 1 week duration. No fever, no cough, no rash at any other area. I did not wear anything that covers those area (ruling out allergy due to contact perhaps). I've went through dermatology posting last semester and have not came across such case.
Avatar m tn The nose end of the vehicle landed on her right lower leg, crushing the Tibia and Fracturing the Fibula. She was Med-Flighted the 40+ miles to Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children in Alabama. I would have preferred that she had been flown to UAB in Birmingham, Alabama but she was losing a lot of blood, so good thinking on behalf of the Med Flight Crew. Anyway, she spent 8 hours in the Pediatric Trauma/ER before seeing a surgeon...
