I went to the clinic and the doctor thinks it is a type of strep throat. They gave me Biaxin XL and i started it today. I did not tell her about my situation from 3 weeks ago. With those symptoms, does this have any possible relation to HIV?

My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am. It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down. I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue. Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?

However, I was recently sick with sinus drainage and a brief sore throat, which is now gone but I went through a course of antibiotics (biaxin xl). I am now abroad, in Paris, and I have a thick white/brown coating on parts of my tongue. I am concerned that this is thrush and it is from HIV.

worse yesterday i noticed a small white patch on my tonsils which went away but reappeared on the back of my throat today; in the crevice that conects my nasal passage to my mouth: what are the chances its hiv i know oral thrush is pretty unique as far as symptoms go: if it was an infection why didnt the antibiotics clear it up i tested negative a few days shy of the 'week mark the worst part is that i recently started a study abroad program in paris and this is ruining my trip.

About 2-3 days after that, I had a nurse look at my throat which was very sore at that point and she told me that I had a serious infection and to have a strep test immediately. I went to the doctor and both the strep and mono tests came back negative. I only had a sore throat, the infection in my throat (white spots and pus pockets), tiredness (which I just thought was being tired) and an achy body (which I attributed to working out).

They put me on Biaxin and told me to rest. I have been on Biaxin now for a little over two weeks and I am almost finished with the pills. My period was supposed to come on Nov. 28th or 29th and still hasn't showed up yet. I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms like spotting, breast tenderness, or sickness other than headaches that I usually get. The only time I had sex without a condom was on Sat.

Well this is what's weird about it: The lesions come and go. The drug is Biaxin XL. I've taken plain Biaxin before at least twice, but not this XL formulation. I've been wondering if maybe I'm allergic to some other part of the pill that's not the drug.

allmy dr told me was that certin quinolones do give false positives. my med was biaxin xl 500mg. but that was all he would tell me. he seemed to be really busy. now i need to find out if that is one of the 13 quinolones. if you can assist me further please do so. or advize me where to search. thanks .

I have been sick for four weeks now. It all started with strep throat. I was prescribed amoxicillin and I got better. Then, when I had just one dose left of the amoxicillin, I started to get sick again and they gave me the zpack (I've had problems before with recurrent strep). This one turned out to be a virus, but a week later I was still running a fever and went to the doctor.

This past weekend it returned, this time with swollen glands!! The doctor took blood and did a throat culture, in case I had strep or mono. Neither was present. BUT he gave me a different antibiotic for the sinus infection called Biaxin, for acute sinusitis, which has been working wonders after one day on it. But I just read that Biaxin is given to HIV/AIDS patients for Mycobacterium avium complex!!!!

I've had a sore throat off and on (mostly on) for about 3 weeks now. I went to the doctor last Friday and was prescribed Biaxin 500mg twice per day. I've been doing this for 5 days now and there's been no improvement. The pain seems to move around my throat and neck area but its always intense. My neck and head started throbbing about a week ago and I went into the doctor to see if I had strep for the third time in three monthes. The Strep test was negative so she believes I have mono and I just took a blood tests and dont have the results back. anyway, 3 days ago she gave me prednisone to help with the swelling along with biaxin. for the past 16 days I have had an extremely sore throat. it started off mild enough. dr put me on amoxil for 7 days. finished it up, by the time I finished it, my throat was worse. then i was prescribed biaxin xl for 10 days, today is day number 10 and the past 2 days i have felt like i'm swallowing razor blades (no exaggeration) when i swallow drink or eat, it's so painful. tylenol and naproxen are no longer working.

I had surgery in Feb 2008 and a routine uralalysis was done pre op (I was never told anything was wrong) In Febuary 2008 I had an respitory infection and received a antibiotic that has been mentioned on this site called Biaxin XL 2X 500mg pills once a day for 10 days.

they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.

Hi my son who is 13 has been violently coughing for over 3 weeks, he first was given strep throught meds. Then he was given a puffer and biaxin for broncitis. He has violent coughing attacks, which takes his breath away and he vomits. this happens quite often all day and night. I am worried. If you can give me any answers it would help.

I am wondering if he might have pneumonia, and if so, can he take Biaxin XL? I know he should be taken to a vet, but with these economic times, we just don't have the money. I am hoping for some help to make him better so I don't have to give him up or put him down. This is an urgent matter as he does not seem to be suffering yet, but I can't let him. Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!

Was worried so had doctor call in ammoxicillian approx 3 days after exposure. Told him I may have got strep from friend. 7 days worth. This did not help. Went to docs 2.5 weeks after exposure and she said throat looked OK but left inner ear looked grey. Gave me 7 days of Biaxin. This seemed to help, but since week 5 symptoms have returned. I am very concerned I may of contracted an STD\HIV. I have read the low risk factor for HIV and other STD's.

A significantly sore throat. My tonsils, tounge base and back of my throat were all sore but at different times in different areas of the throat.

Both came back negative so the doctor diagnosed me as having Bacterial Pharyngitus and gave me Biaxin for it. But I keep reading on the internet that bacterial pharyngitus is a symptom of acute hiv infection, if strep and mono are ruled out!!!! I'm freaking out here.

I was on avalide, toprol xl, procardia xl along with the norpace and had to take potassium because it would go too low for the norpace. I have not been able to take avalide since the episode and am now on Avapro which works bettermost of the time than using avalide. None of this makes sense to me or to my doctors since I should be back where this all began the middle of March when I took this antibiotic and had this episode.

I was just diagnosed with vaginal strep (I think A) and it seems I have little yellowish /brownish scabs on my anus, is this normal? That is where most of the pain from this infection is coming from. It burns and sort of itches. The itching just started today and I've had this for 4 weeks. Most of the 4 weeks it wasn't diagnosed. I took Bactrim but that didn't work so I'm on cipro now. Is cipro a good antibiotic for this? Could this be impetigo?
