Hello,Im a male taking Avodart for hair loss but im worried,by what the information is regarding pregnancy.
My question is can i still try to conceive while im taking avodart.
How will this medication effect my sperm count and also will my sperm have this medicine in them.
Will it cause a birth defect if I should get my girlfriend pregnant.
Also if we try for a child how long will it take for the tablets to be out of my stysem
Any help would be very much appriecated..
Saw my primary MD today. He said that the Flomax relaxes muscles in the bladder and prostate, and the Avodart shrinks the prostate. He said that after a year or so, if the prostate has gone down and reduced the problems, they like to eliminate the Flomax, as it is no longer necessary. Long story short, I now have a prescription for Avodart alone. I realize that it may not reduce the surgery risk, but one less drug is a good thing.
I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications.
I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?
When I developed gynecomastia (which is minor and I ignore) I lowered the dose of AVODART to one twice a week which is 8/month (from 15/month). AVODART has a long half life. Will 8/month still work? I wrote to GLaxo who make Avodart and they said what you said "ask your physician". My physician is very busy and I don't want to waste his time. My next appointment is in June and I will ask at that time if I don't have an answer by then.
ve been hypo for almost two years and never lost a hair. Stress can cause hair loss as well as vitamin defiecency. Please try not to worry. We all have very different symptoms. I will say that my outer eyebrows are gone but have been gone for years. My sister said when her levels got better her eyebrows grew back. Even getting older an cause it, smoking, taking various medications (not just avodart), gaining weight, etc. Do you find you also have erectile dysfunction? Avodart, unfortunately, is associated with these side effects. It's unclear though how long they will last. What does your doctor say?
The first one has disappeared on its own, leaving only a small red mark. I picked at another one and it bled a little bit and scabbed slightly. The other two, I picked at and could get to pop or open up or anything.
I had shaved this area about a week before with a probably too old razor, but while some of these may be folliculitis, I don't think they all are at hair follicles. Can an infection at one follicle site spread?

I am now almost 26 weeks post treatment and I think I am back to normal in terms of hair loss (ie not much). I always had rather fine thin hair and that has not changed but I don't think it has filled in a lot where I lost it it yet. I mean, it does not seem as thick as before Tx (even though that was not thick). I do believe it is a little better because it does hold a little more shape now than it did.
I am a 61-year-old, white male. In the past, I had been VERY heterosexually active. I’m not gay. I am now in an exclusive, monogamous relationship and have been for quite some time. Three years ago, I was diagnosed with BPH, and prescribed a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. Urine stream improved. Frequency abated. I asked my urologist to consider putting me on the standard dosage of Depo Testosterone, strictly as an exogenous source of free testosterone, due to malaise, fatigue, etc.
First question would be, who paid for the study? I'm guessing the manufacturer. And I'm with Gym here, if it's truly just tocotrienols, part of the Vitamin E complex, from palm oil, which is where they're generally sourced, then how did it get a patent? From which country? And is this a safe dose?
They say hair loss is associated just wtih PCOS, but I had a single large cyst and I experienced hair loss. I could be a case study for this, perhaps.
Now that the cyst is gone, my hair is making a slow comeback. No longer losing massive amounts after a shampoo and comb-out and new growth is appearing. I just hope it all returns, or at least enough that I don't feel robbed by what that cyst did to me.

fist of all gebot me not a doctor but according to me if u doing a job then please dont work too much and if u r a student then dont study alot u said u r embarassed please thats may also the reason of ur hair loss so please u should be confident while working between the people or even walking on the road forst of all dont care about this and surgery cant help u i think so another reason of hair loss is dangerous but i am telling u cancer may also the cause of hair loss so dont waste ur time
Finasteride is an underestimated and dangerous pill for hair loss. Its hard to stop it and not experience libido issues. You are lucky enough that you took it for so little time. There are other people taking it for years facing serious hormonal side effects. It will probably take as long as you took the tablets to feel like before. So a couple of months is a good projection as this pill changes hormonal balance in your blood and gene expression about androgen receptors.
I am suffering from BPH for the last 4 years and I am taking DUTASTERIDE (AVODART) and Alfuzosin .
Unfortunately , these meds do not help much since few months ago.
I also about a new procedure named: gat-goren (GG), that sounds as non-pervasive.
Did anyone hear about the GG procedure and can share experience or knowledge about that ?
