The medication prescribed to me is Avapro HCT 150mg/12.5mg (Irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide) taken once daily (1 tablet) mainly to help ensure the blood pressure remains under 140 systolic, which is believed to help reduce the pressure on the aorta and root. I am booked in for a second opinion with another cardiologist next week mainly to re-assure myself and my wife (and kids) that things are chugging along okay.
I'm not diabetic, at least not yet anyway.
But, unfortunately, I do drink a lot of soda and have done so for a long time. And, in the past when I've tried to stop cold-turkey, I often have episodes of low blood sugar (shakes, sweats, confusion), so I end up back drinking sodas for fear of having another episode.
ijust started taking pills for thriods (synthriod)and high blood presuer (avapro)about a mounth now. so just wandring if this can cause me to have lows like this. and would like to know what would happen if you go to low like a coma and no one is around to help a person to get out of a low thats realy bad. thankyou.
he gave me toprol xl 50 mg. and my bp and pulse still goes high sometimes but for the most part it made a huge difference.and of course he told me to watch my salt intake,caffeine,and niccotine,i'm not a doctor but my opinion from my experiences it may not be a major concern right now,but still a concern especially if it stays that high for long periods of time.so i would atleast try to get meds for it.
So I searched in the app world that could help me show the doctor that my BP readings are consistent and I am active, sleep well and eat low salt food. After some research I found this android app called "jivayu" (https://www.jivayu.com), start logging my BP and also wore the activity tracker from Jawbone.
It creates a chart of my BP, activity, sleep and salt intake in a single page. So when I took the chart to the doctor, he noticed the consistency in my numbers.
I am very slightly overweight, but exercise everyday for an hour on the stair master and elliptical trainer at moderate intensity. I weigh 205 pounds and 6ft 1" tall.
Here are the results:
ECG - Normal
Carotid Doppler Carotid Bilateral - Normal, both sides clear, normal waveforms
ECG Stress Test - Normal functionality. Reached target easily. No breathlessness.
Echocardiogram - All normal, normal sizes and areas except left ventricle wall thickness moderately thick at 1.
I take avapro for blood pressure, immovane for sleep and now to quell the anxiety. I have frequent ophthalmic migraines (all sparkly lights, no pain) and have a pain migraine every two weeks or so. I can't get anyone to help me and with every week I am that much less functioning. Oh, I've also gained 40 lbs in six months; mostly belly fat. Please!! Any thoughts? Suggestions? Home remedies while I wait to get a doc to take me seriously?
A year ago, my doctor gave me Lescol/Fluvastatin to take because I am a high risk for heart disease due to genetics and diabetes. At that time my Lipids were within normal range. After a month, ALT/AST results were very elevated.
and medication was discontinued. Since then, I've gone through ultrasound, HiDa Scan and finally diagnose of fatty liver. The Gastroenterologist recommended Liver Biopsy to check for liver damage.
Yea, I actually did have an Echo Stress test already within the past 6 month and it came back fine. They actually said I did really well on it and lasted 14 minutes or so. Although I didn't have chest pain while running, so no symptoms during the test. But, this is why I also had the 24x7 EKG monitor for 2 weeks, the CT heart scan (calcium score). All negative. Weird. Maybe stress/anxiety?
After having had every test in the book, I was diagnosed with PACNS almost 3 years ago, and the course has been unremitting. The original presentation was headache (not thunderclap) loss of executive function and memory, visual disturbances, 7 strokes 9ischemic) and a drop of at least 40 !Q points on neuropsyche testing. I have tried both MTX and AZA, but both make me violently ill. I'm back to the CTX -150 mg/day,now, and it seems to be finally keeping the brain fog away.
The dr has changed his medication, put him on a meta blocker and lasix and said to give the medication 3 months and will see the dr in 3 months time. Since my Dad has been taking the new medication he is worse ( more out of breath) Help me please... I dont know what to do? Do I suggest he gets an angiogram now and not in 3 months time when the angiogram will depend on the results of the new medication. I have 2 brothers living on different sides of the world and a sister who is frantic.
I have high blood pressure, take three meds.( atenenol, avapro, monoxidil, and a statin) At least one med suggests that ankle swelling could result. An echocardigram awhile back suggested that my heart may be a bit sluggish as breath is expelled. I do not fatigue easily - people often comment on my activity level. I am trying to get used to a Cpap machine. I am 82 years old, but, again, they say I look like someone in my 60ies.

I do what I want in terms of exercise and activities, I take 5 mg of Bystolic and 150 mg Avapro with zero effects on my activity level. If your surgeon and cardio say have the surgery, I'd listen to them. Not sure who you have for a surgeron, I strongly suggest you go to someone who has done hundreds of these, not someone who does one now and then. I suggest Cleveland Clinic, or my surgeon Dr. Vincent Gaudiani (Sequoia CA), or Dr. Craig Miller at Stanford. Good luck.
I was on avalide, toprol xl, procardia xl along with the norpace and had to take potassium because it would go too low for the norpace. I have not been able to take avalide since the episode and am now on Avapro which works bettermost of the time than using avalide.
None of this makes sense to me or to my doctors since I should be back where this all began the middle of March when I took this antibiotic and had this episode.
ve been drawn with blue pen) and has progressed from my hand and feet up my legs and arms and I also see veins on my neck and around my eyes. This comes and goes - there doesn't seem to be a pattern though I've noticed it generally happens more in the evening and doesn't seem linked to temperature. Also, separately, the veins on the backs of my hands seem to be swelling a lot more than usual after hot showers.
