Treated with Omnicef, Augmentin, Cliacin, Rocephin Shots, Bactrim, etc. Also on Claritin/Singulair at 10 months for sinus/allergy issues. -Myringotomy at 12 months, with 10 day run of Augmentin and 6 day run of antibiotic ear-drops post-op. -2 subsequent ear infections from 12-16 months. Treated with Augmentin, Bactrim. Still on Claritin/Singulair for sinus/allergy issues. -Second myringotomy and adenoidectomy at 16 months. Very infected sinus cavities and ears.

Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?

Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?

But, exactly 2 days later, his nose begins to run clear and sure enough the ear infection returns. He has tried 4 different antibiotics (Amoxicillen, Zythromax, Omnicef, and Augmentin), but the infection always returns. I am concerned about all of the antibitics he has had. We have been referred to an ENT. Do you think the ENT will say that he has to have to have TONSILS or ADNOIDS removed or BOTH? If, so should I seek a second opinion? Thanks!

I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.

I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. About 1 year ago I as given Omnicef for a bacterial infection. After 3 days of tumultuous diarrhea, I finally stopped this drug but not soon enough. Ever since then, I have had stomach problems. It first started out as irregular and often BM’s, and then progressed to A constant gnawing or burning between my breastbone and navel in addition to erratic BM’s and gas, bloating, and just an overall lousy feeling within the digestive system.

She is now on 14 days of omnicef at 4.5ml of 250mg/5ml strength. She has received since the 14th omnicef 5ml of 150 (whatever the lower strength is)mg/5ml that was a 10 days script that she took 5 of because they then started rocephin injections on the 20th. The original omnicef was for an ear infection. That was clear when she went in on the 19th and they rocephin (1gm) injections were started due to the prolonged fever (since the 8th). She had three 1 gm injections..

I am on everything except the Cefidinir(Omnicef) bc she is adding that after we add the Septra and sees if it is well tolerated.

his pediatrician prescribed Omnicef for severe ear infections. She said there was a 5% chance hed be allergic to that but she wanted to try it out. well, he was allergic. After 3 doses he broke out in HIVES all over his face and scalp scratching and screaming in a way no child ought to scream. Has anyone experienced this with treatment. I'm on zith, omnicef, rifampin and flagyl. I am feel like poo, which could be part herxing, part flare, part side effects. My main concern is this low back pain. It is in the area of the kidneys. After an hour of taking my meds - it starts. I'm also sick at my stomach, headache, tinnitus, the works. I called my LLMD nurse triage line, but it takes 48hrs for them to answer me.

This last dose seemed to do the trick as they changed his ABX to Omnicef vs Keflex. He has been finished with the treatment for 3 weeks and with the Elidil and dipping him in Aquaphor 3 times per day he has not had anymore than just a "dry patch" appearing here and there which I combat with the Elidil, Momentasone and Mimyx and the usual Aquaphor regimine. He also takes Atarax 2 to 3 tsps per day for his allergies.

My 4 yr.old son had an allergic reaction to Omnicef. Hives all over and swollen hands, arms and feet. It's been 18 days and still gets a slight case of the hives . Within the last week( 3 times) he's had leg pain(muscel pain) joint pain. He has a hard time walking, usually the next day he can, it lasts anywhere from 12-24 hours. The 3 times he's had the leg pain he's either been swimming or riding a bike, took him to the hospital, blood work, x-rays and urine all came back fine.

4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.

I took her to her pediatrician that same day where they did a strep test which came back negative, prescribed omnicef and sent us home. The next day her temperature just kept skyrocketing, getting up to 106. That night I took her to the ER at Children's in Dallas where they ran another strep test, mono, flu, and cbc. Her mono, strep, and flu all came back negative. Her white blood count was at 21. They gave her a shot of rocephin, told us to continue the omnicef, sent us home.

I began having yellow mucous out of just my right nostril and went to see a doctor on 12/7/09 where I was given a prescription for Omnicef. It caused me not to be able to sleep, so the doctor gave me Zpak. I took that and no changes in the mucous or sinus/ear pain. So, I went back to the same outpatient clinic and the doctor I saw gave me a steroid shot and predinsone pills to calm sinus inflammation along with a prescription for Augmentum antibiotic.

He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots.
