4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.

it sounds like you had an allergic reaction or OD to the Augmentin. My Mom nearly died from Augmentin. It is a very strong drug and sometimes doctors go over board on the dosage. Don't take anymore. Call your doctor and get a different, less harsh antibiotic.

Because following mild neck/back/ shoulder pains, I was attacked with unbelievable painful locked shoulder joint which I believe was delayed adverse reaction from Augmentin. Never will take it again although I had it before and didn't have problem then.

I took two doses of penicillin V 2 years ago for an eye infection and had a reaction to it (urticaria, fever). I then thought it was an allergic reaction but thinking about it it could have been the jarisch-herxheimer reaction. Would a simple allergy test tell me if i'm actually allergic to it?

anyone else have side effects AFTER STOPPING augmentin after the full 10 day dose? I have been off for two days and have awful sweating and hot flashes. I am male, and in relatively good shape. bp has been in the 140/70 range for three days. odd stuff. Ive usually had plain ole amoxicillin, but this stuff takes the cake.

So I've had a surgery on a granuloma in my mouth this Wednesday and I have to take antibiotics. I've had a bad reaction to them with diarrhea which got better after I ate few yogurts, but I also had a few questions I take augmentin btw, which is pretty safe, but still So I've found some blue bruise mark type of thing in my leg, both sides. these antibiotics seemed to make me very ill to the stomach, and i was and still am very week, and my stomach is still not right, and i get direrea often now, and had it all the time while on the meds.the antibiotics i was taking are, CIPROFLOXACIN (750mg) and AUGMENTIN (875 mg). i took two of each a day, for 14 days.my question is, is this a normal dosage for a severe infection, and i took this dosage for a total of 24 days. am i still feeling ill because of the meds and infection?

I have been fighting a bone infection in my jaw for 6 months - it wasn't identified until this past month but I'd been very sick this whole time. This past month I finally found a good oral surgeon who removed the 2 teeth causing the problem, and cleaned out the bone underneath.

I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. In my opinion, I think it was the Augmentin vs the Tetanus booster. Also, I think you are experiencing Labyrinthitis and need more testing than just an ENG and an MRI. Any medications ordered for the symptoms, i.e. Antivert, Phenergan?

Second Dr- said it is fungus,gave me Nizoral shampoo, after 3 days my face was having allergy reaction from the shampoo. stoped oozing is getting begger. Third Dr- said it is infection, gave me Augmentin. after 3 days i have rash all of my body start with lower arms and lower part of my leg. Fourth Dr -said it is rinworm and he doesn't know what i have in my body but it is not from Augmentin.(it doesn't look allgergy) and gave me Prednisone(for 10days), Grispeg(for 30days).

2 yrs ago got an acute kidney infection ( high fever, blood in pee, the works) which was treated with augmentin. since then, I keep getting less acute infections and they come back every 3 months. I am taking Augmentin for a sinus infection that has now cleared up, but it gave me a yeast infection. I used the capsule of Monistat 1, but I don't think I got it in high enough because the next time I went to the bathroom most of it was between my labia. I live in an are of NJ in which Lyme Disease is not uncommon. I removed an intact tick from my left shoulder blade area about 8 months ago. I didn't develop a "bulls-eye" rash but in the center - where the tick had actually been attached - there was a very dark red-brown surrounded by a thin whitish line and then a large red area around that. One week to the day before her hives started she had called her Dr. because of sinus issues. Without seeing her he called in augmentin!!! She took it for one week and the hives started!!! so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin,spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.

One week later to the day I broke out in hives all over my body, head to toe, long story short it took cortisone shot, steroids, and zyrtec to clear me up. After 4- 5 days it was MUCH better, but for a few weeks after that I would still ge tthem here and there, nothing major. The Dr. eventually tested me for penicillin allergy through rast testing and it came back negative.
