Avatar f tn Hello, You seem to be allergic to penicillin/augmentin.Pls discontinue taking augmentin as you may get an anaphylactic reaction which may be fatal. Allergic reaction to augmentin includes hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Avatar f tn it sounds like you had an allergic reaction or OD to the Augmentin. My Mom nearly died from Augmentin. It is a very strong drug and sometimes doctors go over board on the dosage. Don't take anymore. Call your doctor and get a different, less harsh antibiotic.
Avatar f tn I took two doses of penicillin V 2 years ago for an eye infection and had a reaction to it (urticaria, fever). I then thought it was an allergic reaction but thinking about it it could have been the jarisch-herxheimer reaction. Would a simple allergy test tell me if i'm actually allergic to it?
Avatar n tn I recently took augmentin for three days, had to discontinue because of allergic reaction ( rash, jitters, fever) Today I awoke with a stiff neck which progressively became worse as the day went on. Now 12 hours later the pain has spread down my back and to all my joints. Could this bee the Augmentin or something more severe. This discussion is related to severe sudden onset of joint pain in all joints.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, child’s symptoms are suggestive of atopic or allergic dermatitis, secondary to exposure to allergen and mediated by IgE antibodies. His body is known to hypersensitive to certain things. Stinging insects, Aeroallergens (uncommon), Foods and additives like Milk, egg, peanuts, nuts, soy, and wheat are the most common agents to cause such dermatitis in children. This triggering factor should be identified and should be avoided. A skin allergy test can be useful.
4268628 tn?1375041176 s an allergic reaction, I remember my daughter had an allergic reaction to eggs at 8 months old. She came out in huge red hives all over her face, ears and chest and it happened so quick, like after her 4th spoonful of egg! We rushed her to the hospital and they gave her antihistamines. It was so scary, and she didn't come right with eggs til she was 3. At least cady's reaction was mild, and just a rash, I hope you can get her back on the right medication.
250701 tn?1320974765 No problem (unless you're allergic to penicillin type antibiotics). It's just amoxocillin with an enzyme 'kicker' to make it more effective.
Avatar n tn To set you mind at ease, I suggest seeing another ophthalmologist so see what is going on, because I sense that you have lost confidence in the last one. Maybe you have diabetes or glaucoma or an allergic reaction to one of the drops at the office. Sorry, I can;t offer much more. Somewhat vague symptoms, unclear cause. Don't be discouraged, if no answers, ask another doctor.
676912 tn?1332812551 Sometimes it takes a little longer to get into their systems especially when they have had a bad allergic reaction... It took Richie a few days to recover from his allergic thing with his exzema but the calamine lotion really helped. I would say if he is not better by tonight then first thing tomorrow take him to the doctor's and see if they can give you something prescription lotion for the skin problem... Oatmeal baths work well too!
Avatar n tn Bactrim (sulfamethoxanole/trimethropim) is associated with several clinically different skin reactions. Sometimes, allergic reaction can be limited to mucous membranes (e.g., mouth, genitalia) and even appear at exactly same location every time the drug has been ingested (characteristic of Erythema fixum). First line of treatment is to stop using incriminated drug. Topical corticosteroid preparations are effective anti-inflammatories.
1110718 tn?1258435594 I am not a doctor and can only relay to you what I have read. I read that PANDAs is usually noticed in children about the age of 7 but that it can occur earlier. Children don't (or can't) always articulate what is going on with themselves so earlier occurrences of this tragic condition may not be brought to the parents' attention until around that age.
Avatar n tn I do not eat these things at all, although sometimes I will come across something I think I am not allergic to, and I get my allergic reaction from it. (Always some kind of desert food.) Any feedback? Is it all in my head, and it is possible to be allergic to vanilla or eggs? I know one time I handled eggs and then I rubbed my eyes, causing them to get red and puffy. (Also, for some reason I don't eat cooked eggs. I just have never eaten them.
Avatar n tn Today she received her 3rd treatment and was only able to receive 1/3 of her treatment before they stopped her treatment due to an allergic reaction. We were told she will no longer be able to receive the carbo. Maybe just taxol or taxol plus another drug. Can anyone tell me their experience with an similar situations and what drugs were used and their success? Thank you for reading this and in advance for any info you could share.
Avatar f tn Once after an allergic reaction to Clindamycin and again after an allergic reaction to Augmentin. Both times I gave her hydroxyzine and all the symptoms disappeared. She is in the 80-90 percentile for height and weight for her age, she is very active and healthy. She does not complain of any muscle or joint pain. We recently saw a neurologist and an allergist. All findings on physical examination were totally normal in fact she is advanced on her coordination.
Avatar f tn I have had this for over two weeks now. Mainly on my lower arms. I went to my doctor who thought it may be an allergic reaction to something in the air since its mainly on lower arms which are the areas of skin I usually have exposed. Doctor gave me prednisone and cortizone cream. Prednisone made it not itch but still visible. Now I have been off medicine for almost a week and rash/bumps look just as bad and still itch sometimes.
Avatar m tn Our findings pointed out the risk of increased lipid peroxidation, hepatic and renal damage due to long term use of opioids, especially morphine. Although opioids are reported to be effective in pain management, their toxic effects should be kept in mind during chronic usage. end note some of the damage is due to the sick liver to begin with, so we are in a catch 22 until our livers return to normal.
Avatar f tn I am taking Augmentin for a sinus infection that has now cleared up, but it gave me a yeast infection. I used the capsule of Monistat 1, but I don't think I got it in high enough because the next time I went to the bathroom most of it was between my labia. Fast forward a day and now I have five or side hard lumps under my mons pubis on the left side. I occasionally get these lumps and they go away, but never this many before.
1881195 tn?1324272720 I also agree that does not sound like any typical allergic reaction. That would normally be breaking out in hives, feeling like or actually having your throat swell and close, swollen face and/or hands...(That requires more immediate care) But, we aren't Dr.s here so we are certainly not giving you medical advice. I would call your Dr. this morning and tell them about your symptoms and let them decide if they need to see you or not or adjust or change your medication.
Avatar n tn Hello, It seems that you have had a serious allergic reaction to the antibiotics.Hives may appear on the body even by touch in cases of serious allergic reactions.Take some antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin. They are available over the counter and will help in relieving hives. However benadryl may cause drowsiness. If the symptoms persist then you may need oral steroids which are available only on prescription.Sometimes these drugs have to be taken for a longer time period. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn However, since you have stopped the antibiotic now, take omeprazole and see. It can also be an allergic reaction to something you eat. A food challenge test may help. It can also be an abnormal sensation without a cause. Take care!
Avatar m tn When such food is consumed in large quantities can elicit allergic reaction in the form of runny nose, hives, redness of skin, itching etc. You need to note down such food also in your diary and avoid the intake in future. For hypersensitivity reactions oral antihistamines and short course of nasal decongestants can be taken against prescription. I suggest you to consult skin specialist/ immunologist for further line of management. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn What you need to do is to stop using anything that causes an allergic reaction and to apply antihistamine cream or ointment to the affected parts. Ask your pharmacist for advice in choosing an over-the-counter preparation.
1646233 tn?1301194622 I am currently pregnant. I'm only about six weeks in and because it takes so long to get an appointment here I started prenatal vitamins on my own. This is not my first pregnancy, so I figured it would be safe to take them. The day after taking them, I woke up with a rash all over my hands with pain in my fingertips. The rash almost looks like hives. I also had a bit of swelling in my mouth along with it being really dry.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else had an allergic reaction to the 3 day suppositories that caused itching over your entire body?
Avatar n tn From your post it seems to an allergic reaction. It could be an allergic response to a food product or an environmental allergen like dust, smoke, pollen etc. Only an allergy test will help in pin pointing the exact cause of the allergic reaction. Regarding the numbness and muscle twitching, please get a blood sugar test done to rule out diabetes. Also Vitamin B6 and B12 deficiency can cause numbness in various parts of the body.
Avatar m tn Allergic reactions just happen. One day your body may tolerate a certain medication or food just fine ... and then another day you have swelling, itching, hives, swelling and trouble breathing! Yes, it's that quick sometimes. Your reaction time must be quick as well. As caregiver said, you need to carry either a 'epi-pen' or whatever medication(s) you and your Dr agree would be best in case of an allergic episode! Best of luck - take care!
