Dose of augmentin in children

Common Questions and Answers about Dose of augmentin in children

augmentin

Avatar n tn 3 hours, so whether there is any concentration of the medicine in her system depends on the timing of the dose. Some children are sensitive to Augmentin, but it would be unusual for a child to tolerate it during the day and have a problem only at night. Now, the fact that she has been ill complicates the picture, and you'll only be able to obtain a clear picture after she regains her normal health.
Avatar f tn Instead of treating the bacteria they give him one large dose of Bactrim antibiotics and he vomited out after couple of hrs and had severe allergic reaction from it. I have been searching and reading about this bacteria and fricking out kidney damage and more antibiotics resistant. Ect... Can anyone help me how to kill this bacteria in baby without trying too many antibiotics. This bacteria resistant to Bactrim, Keflex and Augmentin duo and my son had reaction to Keflex and Bactrim.
Avatar m tn Since I am leaving the city for a long period of work the doctor gave me Zithromax 2gr and Cefixima 400mg all in one dose. Then test again in 1 month.... Is this cure good for gonorrhea, NGU, chlamydia? Thank you.
Avatar m tn There are only antibiotics that affect the replication of different species of bacteria. In the case of tb, for example, there are 16,000 varients of the bacteria. There are bacteria that are anaerobic and those that are not. There gram positive and gram negative. As for the side effects file a drug reaction form at the FDA site. There are many different reactions to what are similar antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Saw no change (still white spots on swollen tonsils,NO PAIN). I further go prescribed augmentin tablets which I swallowed complete dose but nothing has changed. I am now confused. what the hell could this be. Anyone had a similar experience, please share.
Avatar n tn I recently took augmentin for three days, had to discontinue because of allergic reaction ( rash, jitters, fever) Today I awoke with a stiff neck which progressively became worse as the day went on. Now 12 hours later the pain has spread down my back and to all my joints. Could this bee the Augmentin or something more severe. This discussion is related to severe sudden onset of joint pain in all joints.
Avatar m tn The augmentin probably isn't working as it may be a viral infection by your description. Sometimes these things take a while to go away.
250701 tn?1320974765 My lung Doctor called me in some augmentin because I have been coughing up thick yellow mucus. I just don't know if I can take it on treatment. Does anyone know??
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
Avatar f tn I am sorry, but most antibiotics can cause seizures as complications and some like erythromycin and related antibiotics affect the efficacy of seizure medications. But if you need to take antibiotic, augmentin should be ok, but please take a multivitamin B with it. There is no antibiotic (in my knowledge) which can be considered 100% safe, but like I said earlier, the incidence of seizures with augmentin is pretty low. Hope this helps.
640719 tn?1277140030 I’ll suggest using a combination of amoxicillin-clavulanate (Augmentin) instead of keflex. Augmentin has been shown to be really effective in patients who are resistant to several antibiotics. Hence, trying it may help. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn Scared I called my doctor, yet he told me that it is a side effect that is common with the high dose of augmentin I recieved. I finished the augmentin and I have no sore throat just thrush I recently started an anti fungal for it though. So I have some questions. 1.When someone contracts HIV are symptoms spread out like this? 2. Is 6 weeks too late to have symptoms of ARS? 3. Do you think that the thrush is medication related or HIV related, would it show up after 3 months?
Avatar m tn At about 3 weeks I developed a mild sore throat and sometimes a feeling of pressure in the ears. I went to see my GP and he prescribed me. Cipro for 5 days....then Amoxicillan Augmentin for 10 days....and then finally Doxcylcline for 10 days. The symptoms have not gone away....and some days the symptoms are very mild and I feel it has gone away.....only to come back again. (1) Would the antibacterial treatments I received have cleared gonorrhea in the throat?
Avatar f tn If I were your treating dentist, I would look for other potential source of infection. In the mean time, if augmentin and clindamycin are not effective, I would try erythromycin family drug, such as azithromycin or clarithromycin , paired with metronidazole(flagyl). If itis possible, antibiotic sensitivity test can be done in the lab to determine which antibiotic is most effective for the cultured bacteria. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Hi, we really cant answer this type of question here as differnt std,s require different antibiotics in different dose levels. Just keep an eye out for any vaginal or urethra white or green discharges that would occur about a week later or genital sores and blisters. If hes an overall health nut i would say you need not worry to much. But if you have another boyfriend you might want some testing for his protection.
237053 tn?1258828426 not a dr but i wouldn't think a dose of Augmentin would drastically impact the results of your western blot, esp since you're dealing with neurological symptoms, which suggests it would be in the later stages if it is lyme. has your dr checked your CD57 immune marker? it's a pretty common diagnostic test for lyme disease these days but it's not 100%. i noticed you've been on the MedHelp since 2007. have you been dealing with medical issues since then?
Avatar f tn In December, I had to change my PCP as my Dr of a number of years retired. The new PCP seems more interested in helping. She just prescribed a short dose of Prednisone 10 MG to help reduce the nasl swelling. She called this a "steroid pulse". Has anyone tried this? Also, gave me a sample supply of Singulair to try and said to take this along with the generic Claritin. I am still doing evening saline rinses with a neti pot. Well, if anyone has any other suggestions, please reply.
200828 tn?1209917975 Pros--hearing improvement, hopefully better speech with time, less ear infections behind the eardrum Cons--have to keep water out of the ears, possible otorrhea needing ear drop treatment if water gets in the ears or ears otherwise get infected, risk of permanent perforation (low, probably in the single digits). Hope this helps. Good luck! This answer is not intended as and does not substitute for medical advice - the information presented is for patients education only.
Avatar f tn 2 and then 2 agian in 12 hours). as a percuation i was given a refill of valtrex to be taken if my imune system was low. for three weeks my tonsils have been inflamed and cratered with white "pus" or "mush" in them, they are similar to pictures on google images for strep throat or tonsilitus. i have occansionaly cleaned out the craters with q-tips and hav been able to scoop out the "pus" as well as some blood. i have not had a fever.
Avatar f tn I test my own blood and adjust my dosage of warfarin. Usually I'm right in range 2.5 to 3.5 (2 art heart valves). About 6 to 8 weeks ago, I took augmentin for 10 days, 2 weeks ago, I took another antibiotic for 5 days. Since then, my PT/INR has been too low, 2.0. My diet and meds have stayed the same. I've been increasing my dose, yet it's still too low. Is it normal for this change? Please see my profile! Can it indicate my lupus activity?
Avatar n tn I don't see palpitations listed as a side effect for Augmentin. http://www.medhelp.org/drugs/Augmentin/show/5288 It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
Avatar n tn This sounds like it may be food related , may I ask what he eats ,drinks in the hours before bed , does he wake throwing up in the night, does he drink a lot of milk ?
