I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

The augmentin probably isn't working as it may be a viral infection by your description. Sometimes these things take a while to go away.
The half life of Augmentin is approximately 1.3 hours, so whether there is any concentration of the medicine in her system depends on the timing of the dose. Some children are sensitive to Augmentin, but it would be unusual for a child to tolerate it during the day and have a problem only at night. Now, the fact that she has been ill complicates the picture, and you'll only be able to obtain a clear picture after she regains her normal health.
At about 3 weeks I developed a mild sore throat and sometimes a feeling of pressure in the ears. I went to see my GP and he prescribed me. Cipro for 5 days....then Amoxicillan Augmentin for 10 days....and then finally Doxcylcline for 10 days. The symptoms have not gone away....and some days the symptoms are very mild and I feel it has gone away.....only to come back again. (1) Would the antibacterial treatments I received have cleared gonorrhea in the throat?
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
Your suspicions are correct with the Augmentin. If you have a viral infection, it will do nothing for it. Here's the problem. If you have a viral tonsillitis, it will get better on its own in time (about the same time that was quoted for the Augmentin!). But you are also taking Augmentin. So, won't it be tempting to say that the Augmentin is what made you better? We'll never know.

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
anyone else have side effects AFTER STOPPING augmentin after the full 10 day dose? I have been off for two days and have awful sweating and hot flashes. I am male, and in relatively good shape. bp has been in the 140/70 range for three days. odd stuff. Ive usually had plain ole amoxicillin, but this stuff takes the cake.
I go back for another blood test in June .... my ast was 74- not sure about my alt - I don't drink ever:
I had been on the following:
augmentin ( 10 days) 25 days before blood test
niquil nightly for around 5 nights - same time as above
zocor
tylenol pm for about 7/8 nights
16 senekot ( senna) tablets over about 3 weeks
Any input is much appreciated - I have had my blood taken for 5 years every 6 months prior w/ no problem - all within range

Hi, I have a sinus infection and the doctor has prescribed me Augmentin. I hate taking medication when I'm pregnant but I need to get better :( I am only 8 weeks. Has anyone else taken antibiotics in their first trimester?
My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin,spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.

I got the augmentin 400-57 suspension on Saturday afternoon. It is now Tuesday evening. It has been at room temp this entire time. How critical is refrigeration?
Treated with Omnicef, Augmentin, Cliacin, Rocephin Shots, Bactrim, etc. Also on Claritin/Singulair at 10 months for sinus/allergy issues.
-Myringotomy at 12 months, with 10 day run of Augmentin and 6 day run of antibiotic ear-drops post-op.

The mouth sores appread 2 to 3 days after I started taking my medication. I read that augmentin does cause mouth sores. It's one of it's may side effects. But I am worried still.
was aware I had the seizure problem and prescribed cipro, which I had to call and tell them to send me something different. The one at the pharmacy now is Augmentin. Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me.
