Common Questions and Answers about Augmentin generic equivalent

augmentin

Avatar n tn When a drug patent runs out, a (usually much) less-expensive generic drug comes onto the market, which is chemically and medically equivalent to the brand-name drug. If he's saying what I think he's saying, I'd like to know what the difference here could possibly be. How could the the equivalent be different?...and if its different, how could it be equivalent? If not, what does the other answer mean? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.

Avatar f tn I've done a little bit of research on this - not a lot, but some - and from what I see Acella is not a "generic" of Armour. A generic is a product made by another company that is equivalent to the brand name. Acella is not equivalent to the current Armour formulation, therefore, is not a generic of Armour.
Avatar m tn So, since I lost my health insurance I have had to buy generic Synthroid online from one of those Canadian Pharmacy things that sends those spam-type emails I was broke and almost out of meds so I took the bait. All has been well with it until I started having some really horrible night terrors. I'm talking NIGHT TERRORS, the kind that leave you paralyzed upon waking up. I didnt know if maybe it was because I went to buy GENERIC synthroid rather than the name brand. is that any different?

Avatar f tn My gut feeling is that it was a combination of drugs, as I have been taking Crestor for quite some time without elevation of liver enzymes but the difference was the addition of augmentin and then GENERIC zyrtec, which seemed to have more side effects than the brand I have taken in the past. The itching is driving me CRAZY...liver enzymes still elevated but are coming down. You were right, Nexium is now allowed, but hope that isn't contributing to the itching.
798555 tn?1292787551 Major stopped manufacturing their brand of generic dessicated (Armour equivalent) forever. But I found a few months available. Although 1 grain equals 65mg not 60 like Armour. More weight in fillers I guess, as it has 38 mgT4 and 9 mg T3 per grain just like Armour. My question is for any one that has used this Major Thyroid in the past and also used Armour. Could you tell a difference, any side effects I need to look for? Odd brand.
Avatar f tn After having a throat infection for 13 years (Lingual Tonsillitis which has irritated the hyoid bone), I found an ENT who diagnosed me and put me on a few medications to bring down the inflammation. I was put on Prednisone for 14 days, Augmentin and generic Prilosec/omeprazole 20mg. As of a week ago wed the inflammation was down 75% and I was feeling much better after being sick for so long.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!

Avatar n tn Local Walmarts offer $4 generic prescriptions for certain drugs so they are good for some antibiotics and antihistamines. For compounded drugs I use a place out of Florida who with shipping is still cheaper than our local compounding pharmacies. They are a website called Your Druggist *******. and they are reputable I have a dog who takes a compounded steroid for his IBD and has never had a problem with them.

Avatar f tn While in India a pulmonologist at a good hospital diagnosed me with allergies and asthma (spiro something test before and after a med). I suddenly had developed wheezing and coughing after exposure to some toxic paint plus for a couple of years when I climb stairs I am short of breath. He said to take meds for a month at one dose and for another month at a half dose and to thereafter see another pulmonologist.
