After two days of treatment, I developed side effects to the Cipro (muscle and joint pain). I was taken off the Cipro and was put on Augmentin (twice a day) for 21 days, which I began taking today. My urologist advised me that if the Augmentin does not work, then there is not a whole lot he can do to improve my condition given that there are no other antibiotics that could be helpful. I just got a PSA done, and I am awaiting the results.

I decided to leave it and see what happened as i'd had a testicular exam and my doctor couldn't see anything worrying. I was taking Augmentin 875mg/125 for a ear ache at the time twice a day for 10 days). According to him he never came down with anything. Then, 2 days after the occurance Monday I had sex with my girlfriend, then started feeling paranoid that could have something from the unprotected incident I am a person with anxiety as it is, so I started squeezing my penis head trying to see if there was any discharge, which there was not. I kept on squeezing all the time.

About 2 weeks ago I completed a 2 week course Cipro followed by a 2 week course of doxy followed by a 2 week course of augmentin for treatment of suspected prostatitis. Symptoms were pelvic ache, testical ache, microscopic hematuria. I have had these recurrent symptoms every 12-18 months for the past 4 or so years.
Well. today I went to the doctor. urine exam reveals presence of Leukocyte. Infection is detected. Couldn't perform culture because I already started to take augmentin last night. She didn't think I have prostatitis because she think I'm too young for to have that!.
She rather is sure that I do have UTI.
Was given a shot of rocephin and doxycycline 100mg 2/day.
Do think doxycycline is the best anti-biotic in my case?

on the 16th of august i suddenly got a severe pain in my testicles, as soon as i felt that pain i sat down for like 10 min and then the pain went away completely, the next morning i would have slight pain in my testicles for awhile but then went away. I checked my testicles for any bumps to see what was causing the pain but nothing was there, but i checked on my penis and found that little pimple lookin figures were on the corona of my penis which really freaked me out!!
went to see my urologist who gave me Ciproxin for six weeks because he thought it was prostatitis. He also took a swab of my throat, everything came back negative
22 july 2008: went to another ENT, who took blood (including HIV, antibody) and was also considering reflux. This was 10 weeks and 3 days ago. Result = negative
Until this day I still have a very sore throat and swallowing problems. I got medication for the reflux, Omeprazole.
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

Hello Doctors. First, I wanted to thank you so much for all your help thus far. Dr. Handsfield's reassurance has been tremendously helpful in keeping calm.
It's been almost 2 months since my first protected sex exposure and I am still having pain in urination (on a scale of 1 to 10, I would say the pain is about 2 or 3) and pain in left testicle and perhaps epididymis that has recently gone up to a level 4 or 5 on the pain scale. I had trouble sleeping last night because of the pain.
t yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis. The combination of cefixime and azithromycin would most probably prevent infection but it would not be curative if the infection was established.
Two days later I was treated for a sinus infection and was prescribed 875mg augmentin 2x day for 7 days. Exactly 5 days after the exposure I noted some mild burning and pain at the tip of my penis. I have a history of prostatitis and I believe that's what this was (perineum pain, mild tip of penis pain). No pain on urination and no discharge. The symptoms resolved after about 10 days.

I did find although that i had Trich, for which i was treated with Nifuratel for 20 days (in Europe), need a follow up to see if its gone.
My question is, have i damaged any nerves on penile glans that result in this pain? Is it permanent, do i have to live with this pain forever?

I've had "prostatitis" for seven years now. I finally went back to a urologist after five years to discover that my bladder is almost constantly partially full. That could irritate things! He prescribed me Flomax.
Besides the dizziness, though, I'm worried about its effects on ejaculation. One of the things that keeps me from having too many prostatitis symptoms is regular and *satisfying* ejaculations. Sorry to be so specific and graphic, but this is the urology community.

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
A MD prescribed 2 grams of azithromycin one time for this a week ago. I also have had a previous bout of prostatitis due to Proteus (years ago). My questions are 1. What was my risk of stds (gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, NGU could happen), 2. Would this medication address the STDs and 3. Do I need a "test of cure"?
Although Augmentin kills certain types of bacteria and is used for lower respiratory, ear, urinary and sinus bacterial infections, does not necessarily mean it will get help a sore throat.
To find out what type of bacteria is causing the sore throat and which antibiotic will kill that bacteria is to get a swab taken of your throat to identify the bacteria and then the correct antibiotic will be prescribed.
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
If you have a viral tonsillitis, it will get better on its own in time (about the same time that was quoted for the Augmentin!). But you are also taking Augmentin. So, won't it be tempting to say that the Augmentin is what made you better? We'll never know.
It's not necessarily a bad idea, taking both -- especially if they are truly unsure and they're trying to get you better as fast as possible.
I recently took augmentin for three days, had to discontinue because of allergic reaction ( rash, jitters, fever)
Today I awoke with a stiff neck which progressively became worse as the day went on. Now 12 hours later the pain has spread down my back and to all my joints. Could this bee the Augmentin or something more severe.
