Avatar m tn I have suffered from chronic sinusitis for years. My ENT said I have under developed sinuses that are about the width of a pencil. I suffered a really bad sinus infection back in 2007, I couldn't breathe or swallow right. My sinuses felt like cement. I didn't want to take any of the steroid nasal sprays because they can dry your nose & I take bad nose bleeds. I went to a health food store nearby & the person who owned it said she too had chronic sinusitis.
Avatar f tn ” With “never drainage/congestion/fever” and “never gets congestion, sneezing, post-nasal drip, etc” and a borderline normal CT scan, the evidence for chronic sinusitis is scant. The American Academy of Otolaryngology (ENT) classifies sinus symptoms as follows: Major: Facial pressure, congestion, nasal obstruction, a runny nose and a reduced sense of smell. And, Minor: Headache, fever, halitosis, fatigue, dental pain, cough and ear pain.
480448 tn?1426948538 I have already made an appt for Wed with an ENT, as it seems that this Sphenoid sinusitis is nothing to mess around with. I have NEVER had headaches last this long...with NO relief from anything. Ear infection common with this...or could this be a complication? I just started on Augmentin 875mg twice daily for 10 days...any other ideas...any OTC meds I can take that could reduce the pressure? Geez, instead of the docs telling me that my CT in the Spring was "normal"...
Avatar m tn Hello everyone, On new years night of this year I got completely way too intoxicated and had unprotected sex with a friend who says she is positive she has no STD's. She got tested before she went to college and was clean but we had sex after she had been at college for a semester. I was inside her for about 10 seconds before I realized either way it was stupid. I was fine until feb.12 I noticed tears in the skin in between my scrotum and thigh. I got a headache too no fever.
Avatar f tn The problem is most likely due to excessive and chronic attack of sinusitis. Take a proper course of antibiotics like Augmentin. Take inhalational steam and anti allergics. If there is a deviated nasal sinus, get the surgical correction. All other symptoms and the troubles would be corrected simultaneously.
Avatar f tn Treated with Omnicef, Augmentin, Cliacin, Rocephin Shots, Bactrim, etc. Also on Claritin/Singulair at 10 months for sinus/allergy issues. -Myringotomy at 12 months, with 10 day run of Augmentin and 6 day run of antibiotic ear-drops post-op. -2 subsequent ear infections from 12-16 months. Treated with Augmentin, Bactrim. Still on Claritin/Singulair for sinus/allergy issues. -Second myringotomy and adenoidectomy at 16 months. Very infected sinus cavities and ears.
Avatar f tn Another question for you - I've never heard it referred to as sinus "disease". Chronic sinus congestion, chronic sinusitis, etc. Is there some difference between the nomenclature?
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your symptoms are suggestive of chronic sinusitis. The causes of these are bacterial infection like streptococcal, staphylococcal, Tuberculosis, Bronchiectasis and Fungal infections. This can be associated with postnasal drip and throat clearing. This can in turn irritate the throat lining. You need to send the sputum or throat swab for culture, microscopy, staining to rule out the pathogen and should also take chest radiograph.
Avatar n tn I went to the dentist and had xrays and he tapped on my teeth and blew air on them. I was on augmentin for a week, nothing. Could it be tmj or should I go back to the doctor?
Avatar m tn Because I just tried it, and it burns so bad! I have chronic sinusitis for two years with a lot of polyps. No medication helps, except corticosteroids but infection gets back immediately after stopping using them.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with sinus infection about 3 weeks ago. I took augmentin 875mg/twice a day for 7 days. The symptom went away after taking the med, and it just came back again after 7 days. Please help....!
Avatar f tn I have had chronic sinus problems my entire life. I am 48, female, normal weight. No other health problems. Every few months, usually 2-3 months, I get a sinus infection. About 6 weeks ago woke up with horrible headache. After a week and I went to Dr. Dr prescribed Augmentin and steroids. Really did not help at all. The pain is above and below my left eye if you are facing me and along my nose and head. Under my eye and radiates down towards mouth and jaw.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Sinusitis and I had a few questions that I didn't think about until I left the dr office. 1. Is it really "chronic", like a chronic disease? 2. Does it go away or is it constant? 3. Is it seasonal? I'm going on my 3rd round of antibiotics and 2nd round of steroids. What happens next if these meds don't work?
Avatar f tn 4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
Avatar m tn ) and was given several courses of antibiotics. I work for a dentist and he prescribed me Augmentin 850 mg ( I believe) which didn't work. Month later my PA prescribed me a zpak with nasal spray which was a few weeks ago. Still hasn't helped. I tried using a neti pot, cleaning my house constantly from dust and trying to find any mold. Some days are better than others, but most of the time I have these awful symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have been struggling with chronic sinusitis for years. I think this infection is bacterial, as I've had it for months. I'm starting to get vertigo occasionally, when I get up in the morning. I'll be going to my doctor in the next few weeks (for a routine checkup) and thought I'd get her input. She has prescribed antibiotics in the past. The problem is that every type I take causes me severe gastic problems (stomach ache, esophageal spasms, etc.
Avatar n tn hello I was just diagnosed with chronic sinusitis thru a CT scan. The only symptom that is driving me crazy is constant thick white mucus in my throat or chest ? it is impairing my breathing and making me wheeze. I have been to the pulmonologist and had lung function test and those numbers were good . I look up sinusitis symptoms, but rarely do I find anyone who has issue with mucus and breathing unless its thru their nose . The Dr thinks I may have chronic sinusitis from a deviated septum ..
