I have just gotten over bronchitis two weeks ago and not much rest with being a teacher and all. I took augmentin for 10 days and it really cleared me up. A few days later after last dosage I began yellowish post nasal drip and tightness in chest. Urgent care gave me an inhaler and said to take Claritin D. Claritin D cleared me up on day 1 but all congested again on day 2. They gave me a zpack as a backup. Do you think this is something more? Chest still feels heavy not coughing.
If i did, will i transmit it to my wife the next day? I am currently on Augmentin 1G for acute bronchitis, will it treat Syphilis? Im more worried about my wife.
Worth to mention, before the appearance of the canker my wife did a filler re-touch to her lips and in the same night the canker appeared.
Do i need testing? And when?

I have been getting over a recent bout of bronchitis where I was prescribed Augmentin (I am on Day 6) and Prednisone short burst (finished 2 days ago) I am still coughing quite bad but the fever has broke... but as of yesterday the phlegm/mucus I am coughing up tastes extremely salty. I have not been using any type of saline spray, or gargling with salt water, so I know this is not the reason. Is it the antibiotics causing this? Or is there another reason?
Follow up with Pulm realized no coughing at night and diagnosed with Protracted Bronchitis. Treated 3 weeks of Augmentin 500mg BID x three weeks. Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus. Albuterol (qid) Combivent (BID) combined treatment resolved shortness of breath finally so dropped albuterol and combivent... but cough still persists. Follow up again with Pulm increased dosage of Flovent to 110.
About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks. Treatment proceeded thus:
1. 1 week Medrol plus Symbicort (60 mg). Little effect - my lung function was at 74%.
2. 10 -day course of .875 MG Augmentin with pulmicort + albuterol nebulizer treatments, and Nasonex. Some improvement -- lung function up to 81%.

you need to stop smoking asap. I've been on prednisone too- what is your dose? I was on 30mg/day and am not sure it's safe for the liver and for 1-2 weeks. my FEV1 is 73% and hasn't gone up even on the prednisone and symbicort. you should contact your doctor asap.

Our airways are closing up while sleeping (inclined mind you). Also during waking hours maybe 3-5 times per day this happens. The rest of the time, we're just fine, even during exercise.
They then put in a pic line and gave me 3 daily doses of gentamyacin , and 10 days of zosyn . ( zosyn ran for 20 hrs per day and genta for 1hr) . Waited 14 days did another sputum and they told me pseudonomas has colonized but I have 2 new infections STENOTROPHOMONAS MALTOPHILIA and SERRATIA MARCESCENS.... The infectious disease doctor did not want to treat them , in fear of me getting c-diff.
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

I've been fighting a bad viral cold & deep constant coughing for just over a month now. The cold symptoms are gone but the cough lingers on. It has become extremely difficult to breathe normal. When I take a breath in, I almost always have to cough. Any activity makes me cough and spit up mucus. I feel like something is swollen inside. I just feel like I can never get enough air into my lungs.
You need a cortizone nasal spray and also antibiotics for 7-10 days. Augmentin is the best but there is also Amoxicillin, Bactrum, etc.... If you wait to late it can turn into bronchitis or ear infection and ear infections are very painful if you have ever had one. If that infection does not clear up after antibiotics then you need a CT scan like I had. You have have a polyps or you may need your sinuses opened to be drained.
t yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis. The combination of cefixime and azithromycin would most probably prevent infection but it would not be curative if the infection was established.

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
t feeling better 5 days later so i went to the doctor again. she said i had bronchitis, possibly strep, sinus infection and swimmers ear! (which i haven't swam in months!!!) and gave me augmentin 875mg twice a day and then some tessa (sp) pills, ear drops, and said to take claritin once a day. well the ear drops were not working at all and my ears hurt worse than before so they switched my ear drops..
Although Augmentin kills certain types of bacteria and is used for lower respiratory, ear, urinary and sinus bacterial infections, does not necessarily mean it will get help a sore throat.
To find out what type of bacteria is causing the sore throat and which antibiotic will kill that bacteria is to get a swab taken of your throat to identify the bacteria and then the correct antibiotic will be prescribed.
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
If you have a viral tonsillitis, it will get better on its own in time (about the same time that was quoted for the Augmentin!). But you are also taking Augmentin. So, won't it be tempting to say that the Augmentin is what made you better? We'll never know.
It's not necessarily a bad idea, taking both -- especially if they are truly unsure and they're trying to get you better as fast as possible.
