augmentin

Avatar f tn I have just gotten over bronchitis two weeks ago and not much rest with being a teacher and all. I took augmentin for 10 days and it really cleared me up. A few days later after last dosage I began yellowish post nasal drip and tightness in chest. Urgent care gave me an inhaler and said to take Claritin D. Claritin D cleared me up on day 1 but all congested again on day 2. They gave me a zpack as a backup. Do you think this is something more? Chest still feels heavy not coughing.
442628 tn?1204892851 I was told I had acute bronchitis and the augmentin and steroids . The steroids I've been on when I had a pinched nerve . But the augmentin is making it hurt like a UTI.
Avatar f tn I test my own blood and adjust my dosage of warfarin. Usually I'm right in range 2.5 to 3.5 (2 art heart valves). About 6 to 8 weeks ago, I took augmentin for 10 days, 2 weeks ago, I took another antibiotic for 5 days. Since then, my PT/INR has been too low, 2.0. My diet and meds have stayed the same. I've been increasing my dose, yet it's still too low. Is it normal for this change? Please see my profile! Can it indicate my lupus activity?
1519309 tn?1290956580 Hi, welcome to the forum, your symptoms suggests involvement of sinuses, lungs or it can be due to acid reflux. There may be underlying bronchial asthma or bronchitis. Bronchitis usually presents with sputum (mucus), symptoms can be worsened by chest infections. A test with bronchodilators for 2-3 weeks will be useful to relieve the symptoms. Other possibilities are central airway obstruction, parenchymal pulmonary disease, gastro esophageal reflux etc.
Avatar m tn If i did, will i transmit it to my wife the next day? I am currently on Augmentin 1G for acute bronchitis, will it treat Syphilis? Im more worried about my wife. Worth to mention, before the appearance of the canker my wife did a filler re-touch to her lips and in the same night the canker appeared. Do i need testing? And when? Thank you all.
Avatar f tn Follow up with Pulm realized no coughing at night and diagnosed with Protracted Bronchitis. Treated 3 weeks of Augmentin 500mg BID x three weeks. Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus. Albuterol (qid) Combivent (BID) combined treatment resolved shortness of breath finally so dropped albuterol and combivent... but cough still persists. Follow up again with Pulm increased dosage of Flovent to 110.
Avatar m tn do you know what dosage? I have an unrelated sickness.
Avatar f tn I have been getting over a recent bout of bronchitis where I was prescribed Augmentin (I am on Day 6) and Prednisone short burst (finished 2 days ago) I am still coughing quite bad but the fever has broke... but as of yesterday the phlegm/mucus I am coughing up tastes extremely salty. I have not been using any type of saline spray, or gargling with salt water, so I know this is not the reason. Is it the antibiotics causing this? Or is there another reason?
Avatar f tn it sounds like you had an allergic reaction or OD to the Augmentin. My Mom nearly died from Augmentin. It is a very strong drug and sometimes doctors go over board on the dosage. Don't take anymore. Call your doctor and get a different, less harsh antibiotic.
Avatar n tn It might be, it does seem a little light but it could clear a STD up if you had it. Best thing is always wait for tests. And I think this is why the Dr went light on the dosage.
Avatar m tn At some point in early August I had a bad throat infection and was given a z-pack (2-250mg pills the first day followed by 1 pill a day after that). At the same point in time my wife was given Augmentin for bronchitis. I cannot remember the dosage she was given but I seem to remember it was for about 10 days. Since those couple instances of painful urination I have had no further incidences of it.
Avatar m tn I'm suffering inflammation of the tonsils and taking now augmentin 1g (875mg amoxcillin + 125mg clavulanic acid). Also, i take some antiseptic and anti-inflammatory medication like bradoral 0.5 mg (domiphen bromide ). Also, I take a syrup for common cold and influenza (dosage teaspoonful 5ml which contains 160mg paracetamol, 1mg chlorpheniramine maleate, 15mg pseudoephedrine HCI, and 4.5mg dextromethorphan HBr).
Avatar m tn Hello, So I went to the doctor cause I thought I was getting pneumonia and the Doc had me do a PFT (which was low at 70 percent) and a blood O2 test (94 percent) and said that I had bronchitis and put me on some prednisone and a z-pack. After I finshed my meds I still felt the same. So I set up another appointment and right before I went in I started to feel better but my tests only showed I improved ten percent.
Avatar n tn Three weeks ago I went to the doctors and they told me I had acute bronchitis after giving me a chest x-ray and I was given 250mg of azithromycin to take for five days to treat it. The problem is i never took the medicine and now three weeks later i feel worse than ever. Orginally, I had a dry cough, no fever, no body aches but i did have sharp pain when i took a deep breath but i did have blood streaked sputum.
757137 tn?1347196453 you might just try eating one banana a day. That might help both your potassium levels and your hypoglycemia, as you say both are mild problems. And you might try supporting your adrenals with adaptogens such as eleuthero and ashwaganda. For exact potassium levels, that's hard, because potassium is a nutrient one has to be careful about -- you don't want too much, don't want too little. You might look into an electrolyte supplement -- and I don't mean Gator Aid!
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Avatar m tn Before going in for surgery i was diagnosed with bronchitis and they told me it , i could still get it done. It was same day simple surgery . 2 weeks later i did a sputum test which showed I had klebsiella oxytoca infection as well as pseudonomas aeruginosa. They treated me with cetamadine iv for 7 days and 10 days of doxycycline (oral). The klebsiella was gone but pseudonomas remained. They then put in a pic line and gave me 3 daily doses of gentamyacin , and 10 days of zosyn .
Avatar n tn Anyway, he asked about meds and I said no. Of course, when I got home, I remembered that i had bronchitis prior to my blood taken: 1. I took augmentin 500 mg. for 10 days - 2 X a day from Feb. 2- feb 12 2. I did some NYQUIL - probably 5 night's worth 3. I had taken approx. 10 tylenol p.m. for 5 nights as well during that time 4. I took 16 SENEKOT pills as I was on a low carb diet ( senna) Was the above enough for the period of time I took it - - all about 3 weeks before the blood test.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
250701 tn?1320974765 My lung Doctor called me in some augmentin because I have been coughing up thick yellow mucus. I just don't know if I can take it on treatment. Does anyone know??
87651 tn?1259602403 Hi Mk- I am so sorry to hear you are sick with bronchitis! Yuck! I had it about 3-4 months ago. It takes a while to overcome it. How long have you been on the antibiotics and what kind? Usually as the antibiotics kill off the bacteria (if it's bacterial) you will feel worse before you start feeling better. I always treat medicine the same as supplements and take 2 hrs apart from my thyroid meds. I have been on a lot of antibiotics and don't seem to recall it affecting my thyroid.
1297091 tn?1272567794 No side effects and it is cheap and effective. I have chronic bronchitis, relatively severely, and take twice that dosage. It has allowed me to get off nasty medications that made me quite ill.
Avatar n tn sinus infection. He finished his dosage with no improvement. He was put on Augmentin again and also started having redness and infection in his left eye. With Cipro drops the eye seemed to be doing better, but again there was this feeling of something in his left eye. The opthalmologist ruled out eye glasses or any infection in the eyes and put him on Vigamox and his eye seems to being better.
Avatar n tn I would be interested in learning if there are others with the combination of asthma and chronic bronchitis that are on Prednisone and what your dosage is. I attempt to take the minimum Prednisone necessary to keep the air passages open but I continue to worry about the trade-offs. Is it better to stay on high dosage and greater breathing comfort or "live on the dosage edge" (taking the minimum to breath) and suffer from the symptoms of asthma and chronic bronchitis.
17344032 tn?1455826300 6 months ago my18 year old standard yorkshire terrier was diagnosed by the vet to have Bronchitis (Pneumonia) and pancreatitis For these conditions the vet prescribed 1 10mg Veraflox daily for 3 months, 2 50mg vivitonin, and 2 5mgprednisolone steroid daily for the rest of his life. He also has the royal caine gastrointestinal dry dog food.
Avatar n tn 2 weeks later, after coughing constantly, bad neck, face and headaches, he prescribed Augmentin. No difference after 10 days later. Still heavy coughing. Took chest xray, sinus xray, blood work, EKG...had thalium stress test 2 months ago....all normal results. No pneumonia, bronchitis, or strep throat. After a month and not being able to breathe right....my doctor prescribed a steroid. Immediatly began blowing up, dry mouth, tightness in chest....
Avatar n tn You need a cortizone nasal spray and also antibiotics for 7-10 days. Augmentin is the best but there is also Amoxicillin, Bactrum, etc.... If you wait to late it can turn into bronchitis or ear infection and ear infections are very painful if you have ever had one. If that infection does not clear up after antibiotics then you need a CT scan like I had. You have have a polyps or you may need your sinuses opened to be drained.
