Avatar n tn Does this mean that the interaction is like taking a higher dose of the statin, which would provide benefit for someone like me who only takes a low dose (10mg atorvastatin daily) and has no statin tolerance issues?

Avatar f tn Is simvastatin something that can be eased up to a higher dose to do the exact same thing atorvastatin does for the bad cholesterol? Because I have had no problems with simvastatin and I'd been 10x's better taking that over this new one that has since already given me problems that has triggered my anxiety.
Avatar n tn Is atorvastatin or pravastatin better at monitoring cholestoral? My doctor prescribed the generic pravastatin as a more afordable alternative to atorvastatin but also doubled the amount I take (from 20 mg of atorvastatin to 40 mg of pravastatin). Should I be concerned about the effectiveness of pravastatin?

Avatar f tn I have been told by my doctors for years that my cholesterol is bad. I was just prescribed 20mg Atorvastatin and took my first dose last night. I got about 5 - 6 hours of sleep which isn't uncommon for me, but this stomach pain as if I'm hungry (which eating doesn't seem to help) is getting annoying. My main concern is though what im going through sounds like what Google said were side effects. Should I talk to my doctor? Considering I've only taken 1 dose.. thank you.
Avatar f tn Coadministration with potent inhibitors of CYP450 3A4 including telaprevir may significantly increase the plasma concentrations of certain HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors and their pharmacologically active metabolites that are primarily metabolized by the isoenzyme.
537843 tn?1213664232 So your TSH was maybe 70 or 80 before you started taking Levoxyl. Were you started on a high dose? How long have you been taking 200mcg? I have been there. I have had my TSH drop 40 points in a week after getting on the right dose of meds. But I went from post RAI no meds straight to 100mcg, which is what my body wanted. Within six weeks my TSH was between 1.0 and 2.0. That's why I said you may need a dosage increase.
Avatar m tn TC:158MG/DL,TGL:100MG/DL,HDL:43MG/DL,LDL:95MG/DL. Avatar m tn Hello, The data is quite supportive of taking a low dose daily aspirin if you are over the age of 40 year and have diabetes, in order to help prevent heart attack and stroke. The aspirin may not seem as though it is doing anything obvious, but it is likely doing great preventive things on your behalf. The Atorvastatin is something you should discuss further with your doctor.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry, I missed the Hashi's dx - my mistake. I don't see anything that indicates you had a thyroid ultra sound? Please don't tell me I missed that too, in spite of going back and reading again...........LOL It's possible that you have nodules that are leaking hormone independently of the thyroid gland itself. This can swing you from hypo to hyper very quickly.

Avatar f tn t doing well and you raised them on your own to see if it would help which is never a good idea? What is the dose that you are taking? What dose did you take today? I could give you some more information then. But more importantly if you are starting to feel sick then you might have taken above what is the reccomended maximum dosage and clearly you are encountering some side effects.
Avatar n tn I have used 10mg Atorvastatin for years with no side effects. The doctor is switching me to simvastatin which reacted badly with my liver in the past. Aim is to save money. Is it safe to buy Atorvastatin online ?
Avatar n tn Why did they have you take a "exercise nuclear scan"? Nuclear profusion scan. Was there something the doctor noticed earlier in another test? Normally you don't send 60 year old patients in for such a test unless there is some indication of something unusual. Had you had angina at times before? When? Under what circumstances? Had you taken a prior standard ecg treadmill test without the radiation scan?
Avatar n tn Please suggest for vit d 3 dose that is required for her .
Avatar f tn My dad who is 81 years old in India is on Citilin 500mg daily. The neurologist prescribed it after he had TIA number of times. He used to get seizures like symptoms and loose his consciousness. He was bedridden and stopped walking completely. Now, he is up on his feet and doing his regular work after regular physiotherapy. At first, he had trigeminal neuralgia and he was on carbamezapine 150mg twice daily and then 300mg twice daily. I just need to know how long he has to be on Citilin.
Avatar n tn What is the statistic probability that Atorvastatin Ca will convert itself into his enantiomer? We believe that this conversion is improbable for 2 reasons First it requires breaking bonds in two different chiral sites in the molecule which will require substantial energy and will not happen spontaneously Second the statistical probability that the reforming of the bond in the enantiomer in this very specific way is close to zero. We would be appreciative to hear your opinion.
Avatar m tn She is not alcoholically person and never drink in her live. She has heart disease and take atorvastatin for 10 years and also donepezil and ladiomil for 4 years. Since her doctor discover problem with GOT and GPT she stopped taking atorvastatin (3mounts before) because they were suspicious that atorvastatin was reason for this problem but again GOP and GPT increase. Next step was cancer marker (CA19-9 = 34.4, AST = 5.47, CEA=3.22) and virus markers (HBsAg Es = 0.13 negative, Anti-HCV = 0.

Avatar m tn If the atorvastatin is keeping your triglycerides down, you will need to continue taking this medication for life, UNLESS, you can get the trigs down thru diet. I assume you tried this before being prescribed the medication. Your trigs are currently 1.48mmol/L which is below the limit required for safety (1.7). You are only taking a very small dosage of Atorvastatin, most people are on 40mg daily.
