Is simvastatin something that can be eased up to a higher dose to do the exact same thing atorvastatin does for the bad cholesterol? Because I have had no problems with simvastatin and I'd been 10x's better taking that over this new one that has since already given me problems that has triggered my anxiety.
Is atorvastatin or pravastatin better at monitoring cholestoral? My doctor prescribed the generic pravastatin as a more afordable alternative to atorvastatin but also doubled the amount I take (from 20 mg of atorvastatin to 40 mg of pravastatin). Should I be concerned about the effectiveness of pravastatin?
I have been told by my doctors for years that my cholesterol is bad. I was just prescribed 20mg Atorvastatin and took my first dose last night. I got about 5 - 6 hours of sleep which isn't uncommon for me, but this stomach pain as if I'm hungry (which eating doesn't seem to help) is getting annoying. The data is quite supportive of taking a low dose daily aspirin if you are over the age of 40 year and have diabetes, in order to help prevent heart attack and stroke. The aspirin may not seem as though it is doing anything obvious, but it is likely doing great preventive things on your behalf.
The Atorvastatin is something you should discuss further with your doctor.
I'm sorry, I missed the Hashi's dx - my mistake. I don't see anything that indicates you had a thyroid ultra sound? Please don't tell me I missed that too, in spite of going back and reading again...........LOL
It's possible that you have nodules that are leaking hormone independently of the thyroid gland itself. This can swing you from hypo to hyper very quickly.

I could give you some more information then. But more importantly if you are starting to feel sick then you might have taken above what is the reccomended maximum dosage and clearly you are encountering some side effects.

Normally you don't send 60 year old patients in for such a test unless there is some indication of something unusual.
Had you had angina at times before? When? Under what circumstances? Had you taken a prior standard ecg treadmill test without the radiation scan?
My dad who is 81 years old in India is on Citilin 500mg daily. The neurologist prescribed it after he had TIA number of times. He used to get seizures like symptoms and loose his consciousness. He was bedridden and stopped walking completely. Now, he is up on his feet and doing his regular work after regular physiotherapy.

If the atorvastatin is keeping your triglycerides down, you will need to continue taking this medication for life, UNLESS, you can get the trigs down thru diet. I assume you
tried this before being prescribed the medication.

You are only taking a very small dosage of Atorvastatin, most people are on 40mg daily.
