Avatar n tn Is atorvastatin or pravastatin better at monitoring cholestoral? My doctor prescribed the generic pravastatin as a more afordable alternative to atorvastatin but also doubled the amount I take (from 20 mg of atorvastatin to 40 mg of pravastatin). Should I be concerned about the effectiveness of pravastatin?
Avatar n tn It is easy to find information regarding drug-drug interactions for omeprazole (Prilosec) and atorvastatin (Lipitor). The omeprazole appears to increase the bioavailability of the statin, increasing the risk of side effects. Does this mean that the interaction is like taking a higher dose of the statin, which would provide benefit for someone like me who only takes a low dose (10mg atorvastatin daily) and has no statin tolerance issues?
Avatar n tn I have used 10mg Atorvastatin for years with no side effects. The doctor is switching me to simvastatin which reacted badly with my liver in the past. Aim is to save money. Is it safe to buy Atorvastatin online ?
Avatar n tn What is the statistic probability that Atorvastatin Ca will convert itself into his enantiomer? We believe that this conversion is improbable for 2 reasons First it requires breaking bonds in two different chiral sites in the molecule which will require substantial energy and will not happen spontaneously Second the statistical probability that the reforming of the bond in the enantiomer in this very specific way is close to zero. We would be appreciative to hear your opinion.
Avatar m tn She is not alcoholically person and never drink in her live. She has heart disease and take atorvastatin for 10 years and also donepezil and ladiomil for 4 years. Since her doctor discover problem with GOT and GPT she stopped taking atorvastatin (3mounts before) because they were suspicious that atorvastatin was reason for this problem but again GOP and GPT increase. Next step was cancer marker (CA19-9 = 34.4, AST = 5.47, CEA=3.22) and virus markers (HBsAg Es = 0.13 negative, Anti-HCV = 0.
Avatar m tn If the atorvastatin is keeping your triglycerides down, you will need to continue taking this medication for life, UNLESS, you can get the trigs down thru diet. I assume you tried this before being prescribed the medication. Your trigs are currently 1.48mmol/L which is below the limit required for safety (1.7). You are only taking a very small dosage of Atorvastatin, most people are on 40mg daily.
Avatar f tn 06/25/07 has diagnostic mammo with ultrasound mammo said 3-4 cm multiple tiny cystic structure birads 3. Ultrasound said multiple tiny cystic structure 2-3 cm ( overall have mri or wait short 6 months for repeat) dr advise to wait. Then 04/17/08 very minimal info on diagnostic mammo bi-rads 2 the cluster structure at 2 o.clock in left breast is somewhat smaller on mammo no new densities or calcifcations. US: cluster of cysts measuring together 2.5 to 2.
Avatar n tn The chemical compound potassium chloride (KCl) is a metal halide salt composed of potassium and chlorine. In its pure state, it is odorless and has a white or colorless vitreous crystal appearance, with a crystal structure that cleaves easily in three directions. Potassium chloride crystals are face-centered cubic. Potassium chloride is occasionally known as "muriate of potash," particularly when used as a fertilizer.
Avatar f tn Long term use of indomethacin can result in gastrointestinal adverse effects. Melatonin is a hormone secreted by pineal gland and is very similar in chemical structure to indomethacin without the risk of gastro intestinal side effects. That’s the reason melatonin is now being considered as an effective treatment option. Patients with history of severe allergies are advised not to take melatonin in general. Hope this answers your question!
Avatar f tn Yes. The contact lens material may have denatured somehow (changed its chemical structure). Also, if the seals look damaged, potentially the contact lenses have become contaminated. Might I suggest that you not take undue risks with your eyes by attempting to save money through buying your contacts in "a hot country" and having them shipped to you in a cooler one?
Avatar f tn My endocrinologist prescribed me Atorvastatin 40mg in place of the simvastatin but it has since given my major chest pain and muscle weakness in my fingers and legs; so I was advised by the pharmacist to stop that and I have only taken the new statin twice and tonight was the second time taking it. Is simvastatin something that can be eased up to a higher dose to do the exact same thing atorvastatin does for the bad cholesterol?
Avatar n tn My mother has been put on Atorvastatin and within one week she has had extreme confusion and forgetfulness. This has been the only medical change. Is this a side effect from it and can they show up this quickly?
Avatar m tn He prescribed Atorvastatin in addition to vitamins but I did a small research about Atorvastatin and find out there are some contradictions about usefulness of Atorvastatin. Of course the contradiction relates to use of Atorvastatin in combination of interferons and he prescribed Atorvastatin in combination with vitamins but I have not decided whether I use it or not. 1->http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18398457 2->http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
554174 tn?1284031102 After three days my HPT started showing negative and i have been spotting eversince with this very strange very light brownish discharge. I went in for a TVS again and the doc saw a linear structure which she called blood instead of a sac. So she assumes that its a chemical pregnancy for me. My Beta test also showed 50 only today. So what does this mean? Am I surely not pregnant anymore? Should i loose all hopes for this time?
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a mammogram Aug 27th which that the small node I have had for years has grown. Two days later I had an ultrasound that shows a hypoechoic structure deep within the chest wall and has a hyperechoic notch to it with an appeappearance of a benign lymph node but does not correlate with the position of the mammogram. Given the findings of this ultrasound and enlargemnt of the density on the mammogram biopsy is recommended. My question is would you take it out completely?
Avatar m tn t know very much about the molecular structure. I find it a bit hard to understand, but I get pieces of it. This one seemed more concise then the the last one I sent you. - Dave http://www.natap.org/2001/jun/MoleBio.
Avatar m tn 57 Male never on medication and gym rat. I have been on Atorvastatin 40mg since middle of March. It was prescribed by my cardiologist for slightly high cholesterol level 225. Along with BP Med Losartan 50mg. All of this started when I wasn't feeling very well one day in February and went to outpatient clinic. Since then I've had a heart monitor, CT scan of heart and angiogram. All normal except angiogram showed one 70% blockage.
1128565 tn?1316721143 Since it haves SNRI proprieties yes it can help but it is way less potent than Effexor and it's chemical structure is very different. The closest relative to Effexor is tramadol. I know Tramadol already been used for Effexor withdrawal due to their similarities. Tramadol possesses weak agonist actions at the μ-opioid receptor, releases serotonin, and inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine.
Avatar f tn Has anyone's partner had sperm chromatin structure analysis (SCSA) to test for fragmented sperm dna? My RE just suggested it. He said it can contribute to infertility even if the sperm analysis is normal. He also said it could contribute to chemical pregnancies and miscarriages. Wish he'd told me that sooner...
Avatar n tn I have had numerous EKGs Echo and holter not to mention blood test to check my thyroid and anemia. I am not sure which direction to go in because the structure of my heart seems to be ok.
