422220 tn?1256764529 I never took Paxil, but I take Ativan for anxiety. It really works well and you can take it as needed (or not) unlike the antidepressants where you have to build up to a theraputic level and then stay on the drug.
Avatar n tn Then you also need to investigate other causes of brain fog like liver dysfunction (get liver enzymes done—liver function test), kidney dysfunction (get kidney function test done), and anemia. Poor sleep pattern and sleep problems like sleep apnea too can cause brain fog. Sleep studies by sleep specialists can help diagnose this.Low Vit D or Vit B12 too could be the cause.
1032715 tn?1315984234 Keep drinking and using and it will eventually give up. I had high readings and was hospitalised for liver damage but it eventually recovered after I stopped drinking. Worrying about it is a futile act, stick to your recovery plan, don’t drink or use and when the time comes have the necessary tests then deal with things as your doctor recommends.
Avatar f tn "Can you get Cirrhosis of the liver with painkiller and sleeping tablet addiction?? " Painkillers and sleeping tablets will not cause Cirrhosis of the liver. Other medications like certain anti-fungals can. Certain medications can cause further harm if you already have some form of liver disease.

Avatar f tn I had an aunt who died from liver cancer and her liver function tests were normal until the end stages. However, it is common to have cysts in the liver and fatty areas that aren't a problem. When I was dx they found a hemangioma in my liver and another cyst and there were two cysts in my kidneys. Before my surgery, I thought this must indicate cancer had spread there only to find out that most of us do have some sort of cyst congenitally or as we age. My dr.
Avatar m tn They say that Milk Thissel helps clean the liver and their are other natural liver cleansers, but I would check with your doctor before using these. Glad your numbers are returning to normal and this has been a wake up call.
Business man3 What supplements or other over the counter meds would you suggest to help improve my liver function? Also i think you should know i have had this disease for only two years now. Thank you.
678069 tn?1254422777 Well, not only did my latest bloodwork show all my blood counts are good, but my liver function is now NORMAL!! Are you kidding me?? Its been a long time since that was the case. I couldnt believe it when my Dr said it. I could definitely get used to hearing that! Add to all that the fact that my side effects are minimal. The only thing I deal with on a regular basis is mild fevers. But Advil usually takes care of it.
1032715 tn?1315984234 I've got the results back of my liver function test,It has gone from 116 to 35 in 3 months,Doctors over the moon more excited than me I think.
Avatar n tn My GGT on my Liver Function Test is very high. I am taking Phentoins for epilsepy and wonder if this is the cause.
1001582 tn?1272081863 I would suggest you go get TSH, Free T3, Free T4 and a liver function test done. Often once the liver is damaged from alcohol the body has trouble making use of the T4 our thyroids produce and the liver is part of the process in converting it into usable T3 for you to function normally. Your symptoms may or may not be all related to thyroid issues, but I would strongly suggest getting those tests done and find out from your doctor.
Avatar n tn Lately I have been taking a .5 mg tab of Ativan every morning and this is enough to help me get things under control and function for the day. My question is this: is this low dose of Ativan still addictive? Or does it have enough time to clear the body?
Avatar m tn Hello everyone. So a little backstory first. I was diagnosed with Graves disease back in 2013-2014. I was put on the methimazole + beta blocker treatment. I went into remission around 2016, when all my labs were normal. So I stopped the meds. Then, March of 2018, Graves was back with a vengeance. All the telltale signs were back, the excessive heat and heart palpitations, I went back to the doctor and back on drug treatment. This time, however, the meds doesn't work whatsoever.
1181804 tn?1333402805 OK. I struggled with my opiate addiction so much that I never fully realized how physically addicting I was becoming to ativan too. The doctor who helped me wean off the percocets by putting me on suboxone and then slowly wean me off those over a one year period told me that I can't be on ativan while on suboxone. Well, my Primary Care had put me on the ativan (.5 / 2 X a day- but I took more when I "needed" it.......
Avatar f tn In addition to depression, I struggle with anxiety and take 1 mg Ativan as needed, up to 3x/day if needed. The Ativan helps with the anxiety but I've noticed if I have to take it for a few days in a row it really seems to affect my mood, in that I often feel even more depressed than I did before taking it. I've been on Klonopin before and all that did was make me fall asleep (even on a very low dose), and at least with Ativan I feel as though I can function without feeling so tired.
Avatar n tn if your friend is willing to do whatever is necessary to stop and stay stopped, there is a solution. mixing ativan and alcohol can be dangerous on two fronts. first, in combination, they can cause the respiratory centers of the brain to shut down---a lot of people die like this. second, both of these are cns depressants that when removed can induce life-threatening complications from withdrawal. a medical detoxification may be needed to withdraw safely.
Avatar f tn I had a liver function done before I started Suboxone and then again when I was half way finished with it. Suboxone is very hard on your liver.
1326572 tn?1275500911 I have early RA, just got the latest blood work back. My liver and blood count look great but my doc said my kidney function is slightly off. The creatinine is high at 1.09 and the GFR is low at 54. I was occasionally taking ibuprofen but have stopped completely now. I'm also on mtx, folic acid, norco for pain and also xanax. The doc said she wasn't too worried but she wants to watch it. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of thing.
Avatar f tn have been taking 3-4 mgs of ativan daily for 2 years, cant function without it. my doc just prescribed prozac, very low dose, have not picked uo script yet. has anyone taken these 2 meds together. iam afraid the prozac will make me more anxious. my anxiety is worse then my depresion, i think. anxiety paralizes me w/ fear.
Avatar f tn but i have now gotten prescribed to ativan 1mg a day as needed and has helped me so much within the last year. it really has changed my life because i no longer have to worry about everyday activities and whether or not my heart is going to prevent me from being able to do the things everyone else are able to do. even though the episodes still occur, they are a lot less frequent and the ativan helps me get through it without feeling like i am going to pass out.
Avatar m tn Hi, I just received my liver function test and am concerned. I am a social drinker who has no more than 2 glasses of wine maybe 4x a week (no hard liquor). My test results were GGT 105; ALT 154: AST 80...What does this indicate? This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/234245'>slightly elevated alt ast</a>.
Avatar m tn 2) also i had mononucleosis 1.5 years ago and liver function test result was normal only bilirubin was 23.1 (<18.7 mol/L) 1.35 (<1.1 mg/dl) other AST,ALT,GT AND ALP was normal. I do not drink alcohol (very rare). Now doctor Advised not to eat fried food. I need advice, when is recommended to repeat liver function test and how many time do i need diet? Do i need another blood tests?
Avatar n tn ok thank you,my liver tests were returning back to normal when i cut out sugars and fats and exercising in your opinion would you say that this points to fatty liver disease i do not drink or smoke, sorry to keep asking and thank you for taking the time to answere me,Jordan.
Avatar m tn I have an AST 46 and ALT 36. Does this indicate liver damage? My AST is 6 above the lab upper limit normal and my AST is obviously higher than ALT.
Avatar m tn well stopping like that might be very very dangerous. the first mistake is the use of telbivudine, it is not a first line therapy since genetic barrier is too weak and resistance can arise, if you have resistance or develop it now that youstopped drug all other dugs will respond less and develop resistance soon your feelings are about myopathy which is a side common to telbivudine but has nothing to do with the liver, it is a nervous system problem.
Avatar m tn do not indicate the amount of liver damage or how well the liver can function. ALT and AST measure enzymes that liver cells release in response to damage or disease. Since you have a low level of inflammation of the liver (2) it is possible for these levels to be within norm as your disease progresses.. Many persons with extensive liver damage (cirrhosis) can have normal LFTs until the liver is unable to function properly. (decompensated cirrhosis).
