Common Questions and Answers about Asacol ec 400 mg

asacol

Avatar m tn I am going to go down to 2 pills a day (6 mg) from the original dose of 9 mg. I will work towards 1 pill and then off. After the first couple of weeks, the diarrhea stopped but I had a painful stomach for 3 hours each morning. My miracle doctor prescribed Benefiber, 2 tsp at bedtime and I am now perfect. I am very worried about what will happen when I go off of the drug completely. I will repost at that time to let you know what happens.

Avatar m tn Now some start a lot lower than me but I have to start a 70 mg then decrease by 10 mg every three days until it stops. Now if I get down to 30 mg and the bleeding starts I jump back to about 50 or 60 mg and start again until I'm off but always jump way up if it restarts. The idea is to get off the steroids asap but make sure the bleeding is stopped. The other thing is to increase the Asacol right away to get the UC under control and adjust her dosage to manage it.
1446077 tn?1284510191 My gastro is now saying I have IBS and there is nothing more he can do. I am taking Asacol 400 3/3x day and Levisin for pain. I have noticed a slight decrease in bowel movements but no decrease in the pain. What else can I do to get relief?

89592 tn?1391274422 my gastro prescribed asacol...800 mg 2 tabs twice daily. I looked at the drug pamphlet and I see that it can affect liver enzymes. I dont need that since I already have mildly abnormal values. I called my gastro to tell him my concern and he said it would not hurt me. I am supposed to be on them indefinitely. I also take 5 mg prednisone for my r/a. Just wondering how this will affect the liver. I know I am not on the higher side of the doses given but still...
Avatar m tn Has anyone tried Lialda? Does it perform any better than Asacol? How much more is your co-pay for Lialda than Asacol. I want to ask my doc to make a switch.
Avatar m tn i was prescribed asacol 2x 400mg, 3 times a day for two weeks. after this time i was also diagnosed with CKD at stage 3a with a GFR of 53 and a creatinine clearance of 87.14ml/min. i took asacol again for one month at a reduced rate of 1x 400mg, 3 times a day (3-4 tablets recommended for prevention of relapse). then i stopped taking it for 2 months. i took asacol again at 1x400mg, 2 times a day for 2 months.
Avatar f tn Thanks you gals! I was on asacol, and now the doctors have me on delzicol (3 doses of 1600 mg a day) and 60 mg of prednisone and I'm starting to see improvement! I tried a bland diet and no matter what I ate it just seemed to get worse. They were debating on starting me on remicade, but I think they dismissed that since I'm doing better with the medicine change. Still in the hospital, but it sounds like I'll be getting out in the next couple of days.
643805 tn?1243968843 im not sure but ive been in and out of the hospital like 8 days in 2 weeks and it took 2 colon oskopies and 2 endonoscopies to figure taht out and then they found the ilius that is so groos ive always thought i had a slow moving digestive system but they put me on asacol but i already take 200mg of trazadone 20 mg of lexapro 1000 mg of depakote clonopin and vicodinn for my pain im also bi polar with a seizure disorder so my life really sux at 26 im on so many meds i cant even always remmember
1129232 tn?1360800358 s (micrograms) but I have been reading conflicting things about how much you should take. Some sites say 400 mcg and some say 400 mg (milligrams). That is a HUGE difference as 1 mg = 1000 mcg so if it's 400 mg i should be taking 4000 mcg. Hope this makes sense.
Avatar n tn I have noticed that my asacol is not breaking down and is being passed in my stool! Is their a reason for this? What can/should I do?
1869943 tn?1322654497 Now from my own personnel observations, I took a incrementally lowering dose of Prednezone starting at 70 mg per day for three days then lowering by 10 mg every three days. If bleeding restarted at a low dose I would automatically go back to the higher dose and start again. My Family Dr. trusted my reasoning and always gave me a couple repeats so I virtually did my own dosages.
1115182 tn?1258760246 There are many medications on the market. There is 6mp, Remicade, Asacol, Sulfasalazine, Ciprofloxacin , Azathioprine. Your close family member should talk to there doctor about other options if methotrexate isnt working.
Avatar m tn I have a NEW G.I. doc who keeps referring me to a colonoscopy and an MRCP before she decides to do anything but I've had a flare-up of UC for a month and need some relief. Today I saw a whole Asacol HD tablet excreted and the G.I.doc said "that's ok--it's still absorbed." Ok--so now I must be reasonable and ask a question as how is it absorbed when NONE OF IT--repeat, NONE OF IT---is degraded at all? This woman doesn't get it. Anyway, what should I do now?
Avatar f tn i took 1000 mg riba in the a.m. and 800 in the p.m.

Avatar m tn 1:1 to receive either LB80380 90 mg, 150 mg or entecavir 0.5 mg daily orally for 48 weeks. 102 patients who adhered to the protocol were analysed as per-protocol analysis set. The efficacy endpoint was the change in HBV DNA at week 48 from baseline. There is an extension study up to week 96 which is ongoing. Results: The data up to week 48 of treatment are tabulated below. All two doses of LB80380 showed comparable anti-viral activity with entecavir 0.5 mg daily after 48-week treatment.
