Avatar n tn The low TSH shows inappropriately high doses of Armour. Would recommend decreasing the dose and possibly stopping it as the initial labs were normal with the exception of a high Tg-Ab (and depending on the lab used, that may only be borderline high). The lack of weight loss is not due to a lack of thyroid hormone -- and may have nothing to do with thyroid.
Avatar n tn all the time, seldom perspire unless humidity is high. I am 55yrs old, taken Armour thyroid for 2yrs for low thyroid, was dx with skin Sarcodosis 6yrs ago, complete hystorectomy 20yrs ago. I would appreciate your opinion on my dx and symptoms.
Avatar n tn I have low thyroid and I am taking Armour 30MG,can I take Alli for weight loss while taking Armour?
457926 tn?1216002420 they changed my meds agian to armour thyroid 2 tabs of 90 mg does anyone know about this med. This discussion is related to Help very confused.
Avatar f tn Only people who do not make their own T4 should have Armour because Armour is Pig Thyroid and they have higher levels of natural T4. My understanding is this is what produces adrenaline. You might feel good having the high levels of adrenaline in your system (which is the reason a lot of Armour patients report high satisfaction) but they also have the related heart, stroke etc problems. Think about what stress does to your system, this is adrenaline. I switched to Synthroid.
Avatar f tn I received RAI for hyperthyroid and after two years of trying different meds I finally take armour thyroid 120mg, my blood work is fine but I don't feel fine. I have started taking cytomel 12.5mcg thinking that may give me a little more energy and help with a little weight loss. I'm wondering if anyone has added extra t3 with the armour thyroid and had good results. My doctor doesn't know about this yet...
Avatar f tn Now if I am reading between the lines on your question - are you suggesting Armour thyroid will assist you with weight loss? Just so you are aware the chance of that happening on either a synthetic hormone as what you are taking or the dessicated thyroid hormone replacement as Armour that is false.
393685 tn?1425812522 There has been new information released recently on the use of particular weight loss drugs and the use of Levothyroxine together. The specific weight loss medication is Alli ( which is the brand name for the medication Rx Orlistat) Orlistat is a drug that promotes fat-blocking - taken with meals to help block some of the fat -- and therefore fewer intake of calories -- from meals, and aids in some weight loss.
Avatar f tn This change in eating is almost set for all thyroid patients to achieve weight loss. Also, as LM says, optimal levels in desiccated thyroid meds - comes in time. Your feeding the thyroid the hormones it was wanting - but in reality - you will probably need increases to fully achieve optimal levels permanently. You will eventually find a set point with the meds - it just takes some time to get there.
Avatar f tn t remember simple words, vision changes, weight loss, trouble putting any weight on even now, outer eyelashes thinning. I think it's the fact I lost weight that is throwing me off. I am 6 feet tall and was at my optimum weight for a year on 120mg which was 150. It even went up at times depending on my activity level, but losing weight being hypo has always been hard. I believe I have had a thyroid problem my whole life but it was only diagnosed 5 years ago.
205009 tn?1218559728 I also am having heart palps (when I skip a dose of armour), hair loss, horrible memory. I thought these were consistent with HYPER thyroid, not hypo? I do have 2 thyroid nodules. I go for a check up on them in May. They were determined to be non-cancerous at the last FNA. I am extremely confused. :) Thanks!
Avatar f tn I have recently been diagnosed with hypo thyroid. I have been put on 30mg of armour thyroid medicine. I am overweight and have been trying to lose weight. Since I've been on this medicine, I have hunger pains constantly, can't get enough to eat. I have called my dr. Of course he says it's not the med. I don't know what to do. I have already put on 4 lbs in 7 days. What other meds should I look into. HELP!!!!
460348 tn?1213452322 Thanks Cheryl!! I just keep praying things will get better. Just can't understand the weight gain since my synthroid has been bumped up to 137mcg. Tired of being tired and tired of getting fat!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Hi there - I started Armour a couple of months ago (July this year) after doctors kept me on synthetic for 3 years. I kid you not, I'm in the UK and I was always a size 8, weighed between 7st10 and 7st12, I'm 5'3". In the three years, despite no change in my diet (in fact I used to eat more before I got ill!) my weight has literally doubled.
Avatar n tn He has significant weight loss over the past year. His weight loss, leg cramps(sometimes even hand cramp), eye problems, are all caused by these hormone imbalance? Is there any convenient over-the-counter **************? Thanks in advance for your help.
927140 tn?1244210051 I do not have a thyroid n I take armour thyroid medicine. I weigh too much and wasn't too lose weight. what can I take our do to help. Exercise does NOT work eating right does not work.
Avatar n tn DHEA treatment may not be the cause of your hair falling out BUT in combination with Armour the thyroid could be over producing. I see you stopped that DHEA but with taking the Armour - it may take time to fall back within the ranges you were comfortable at. A TSH test is OK - but my advice is to have your doctor run a Free T3 along woth TSH. This may open up more information to you.
Avatar m tn After giving birth to my last child almost two years ago I have not been able to loss very much of my baby weight and feel tired all the time. I recently had some blood work done but can not get a follow up with my dr. for a month. Can someone please tell me what my results mean. TSH 1.37 range .27 - 4.20 Free T4 .86 .80-1.7 Free T3 2.7 2.6-4.4 I know that am within range on all numbers but I have read that you ideally want numbers at top of range and not bottom.
822804 tn?1298226302 I was dx'd with hypO in Jun 08 and with Hashi's in Oct 08. I was on synthroid until Jan 09, at which time I was changed to levothyroxine + cytomel. I have not been able to lose anything on either regimen. I continue to watch my diet and exercise in hopes that one day I will be able to get rid of at least a small amount. Don't give up. I'm told that when the thyroid levels are right, the weight will come off.
Avatar f tn The weight is not likely due to your thyroid problem. 2 out of 3 americans are over-weight and most do not have a thyroid problem. It simply is eating more than we burn off and the fact that metabolism slows with age -- I know this sounds harsh, but it is the plain truth.
