Avatar n tn Hi, I'm new to the community, see you posted last month. I was on Yasmin, I think its related to Yaz but not the same for about two years. I had some really odd symptoms with Yasmin and begged my dr to take me off of it, since then I was on Apri, which is just generic desogen.
Avatar n tn ve tried Ortho Cyclen, Necon 1/35 (Ortho-Novum), Apri (Desogen), and now Zovia (Demulen). Sorry if this has been asked before, but does anyone who has tried taking continuous BC to stop their period have any insights on how long it took? I'm starting to go a little crazy and wondering if it's ever going to go away...
Avatar n tn I have been taking desogen (apri) birth control for over 2 years and have not yet missed my period for over a day. this is the first it has not been consistent. I am sexually active with a steady partner in a monogamous relationship. I am not ready for a child and need to know if I should seek a morning after pill, take my birth control for next month instead of my placebo pills to try to start my period, or what other options I have.
475555 tn?1469304339 t format properly here, my apologies.) Hi! friends, Medhelpers, and fellow sufferers from hepatitis and the medical profession. In a previous thread, concerned with the reliability of fibrosis tests like biopsy, Fibroscan, Fibrotest, FibroTC, etc., I mentioned a simple fibrosis index I recently discovered called the AST-to-Platelet Ratio Index, or APRI, that can be calculated from blood tests, and which has been shown to have a high level of reliability.
Avatar f tn What type of pill are you on? When I was taking a generic version of Ortho Tri Cyclen, I was a Sunday start-so started my active pills on Sunday after my period. Active pills went on for 21 days, with the last one being on a Saturday. I nearly always started my period on the Wendesday following my last active pill (though a could of times I started Tuesday instead)...so my period began on the 3rd or 4th day of my non-active pills.
287297 tn?1207305706 I also am currently on desogen birth control pills. It's normal for your doctor to prescribe contraceptives for a number of things, PCOS being one of them so don't worry!!
Avatar n tn I am 42 and I was taking birth control pills - Desogen since I was 25 or so. This year in May I stopped taking the birth control pills and a couple months later I noticed on my legs bulging varicose veins. The onset seemed to be quite sudden. Could the fact that I stopped taking the birth control pills caused the sudden onset of the varicose veins?
Avatar f tn 0.5 and 1.5. That is, an APRI score of less than 0.5 means no or very slight fibrosis, and an APRI score of more than 1.5 means cirrhosis. The intermediate scores approximate the intermediate fibrosis stages. I have now calculated my APRI score for the seven blood tests done between 2006 and now, and the graph of the scores shows a steady progression from early to later stage fibrosis, which is apparently what has happened. That is, I'm a fast progressor (65 years old, geno 1b, etc.).
Avatar n tn He said it is likely due to the fact that I take my pills continously (skipping the placebo week). I am currently taking Desogen and am wondering if I should switch to something different to minimize this breakthrough because it has now turned into almost a full-blown period. What do you recommend? Thank you and happy holidays!
Avatar f tn I would go back to the doctor and switch if I were you. I was on Desogen when I was younger and that one worked really well for me. No PMS, mood improved, and I had very light or sometimes no periods. My doctor switched me to Ortho-Cyclin, which caused me to break out and become depressed, so I went back to Desogen. For the last six years, I've been on the Mirena IUD and I absolutely love it. I have no periods, no PMS, nothing.
Avatar n tn Well last sunday, my girlfriend started taking desogen during her period and it stopped her period. A few days later we had sex, and I came inside of her. I have done this many times before when she was on other birth control pills. Yesterday, the doc told her that it takes 30 days for desogen to take effect and she might be pregnant, we also heard that right after you period, you have the least chance to get pregnant..
Avatar n tn This is my first month ever being on birth control and i'm on the 28-day pack pills called Apri. i started taking the last week the "reminder pills" 3 days ago and the way i understood it is that i'm supposed to get my period on the first day i took the reminder pills...could i be pregnant or is there something else wrong?
Avatar n tn I have one sex partner. Please help! I am also on birth control Apri and have been having extreme acne under my jawline on my neck (I read this is hormonal). Please give me your input on what you think is wrong.
Avatar f tn OK. So I was on Apri for a year when I was with my bf. My last period on Apri was July 18, 2008. After that period, I took about 4 of the pills before I decided to go off the pill for a few months, since my bf and I broke up months ago and I don't like taking medicine/hormones I don't need. Naturally, my period started again a few days after I stopped taking the pill, so maybe the beginning of August. Last week, I made a really stupid, stupid mistake and slept with my ex w/o protection.
393893 tn?1283551230 I started metformin last weekend and desogen birth control pills last week. Just today I noticed I am spotting old blood. My body is doing lots of weird things but the spotting scared me a little. Has this happened to anyone else?
