Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis vs ovary

appendicitis

Avatar m tn An appendix is usually on the right side of your stomach and you will usually run a high fever with appendicitis. However, if you are still concerned, you can call your doctor and ask to speak to a nurse.
Avatar f tn ve searched for my simptoms online. This way I found out about stump appendicitis and I got mortified it could be that. Could the CT scan have missed it? All the other organs seemed fine. Last year, I didn't develop fever or vomiting with my appendicitis, reason why it was hard to diagnose, especially because it was behind my ceccum (for 1 month doctors suspected ovary pain...until my appendix burst). Can this time be stump appendicitis and doctors mistake it for cysts again??
Avatar n tn I have been having some pain where I believe my right ovary to be. I had pain there, around my back and down my legs. Also up my right side too. Gyno said she did not feel anything on my ovary, thought it might be an UTI. Seeing a urologist and so far sounds as if this is not the case. Urine coming back negative for bacteria. These pains come and go without any reason. Its not always there. But I read a story of a lady who's first sign of colon cancer was sciatic pain.
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Lower right quadrant abdominal pain is also a sign of appendicitis. If you are laying on your back and press on the sore spot and you get a sharp pain when you press and it even hurts as you release pressure it could be appendicitis. Your pain may be unrelated to your pregnancy. Did they rule out appendicitis or even ovarian cyst or maybe even gas?
640526 tn?1312107911 I went to the ER with lower right abdominal pain in September of '09. Of course, my thought was that it was possibly appendicitis. They said it was probable I had appendicitis but weren't sure enough to say surgery was absolutely necessary, but when they did my CT scan, they found out I had a 10x11 cm cyst (complete with bone) in my right ovary. They did surgery on the spot, and thankfully, I still have my right ovary.
Avatar n tn could that be the reason i have not gotton appendicitis yet? and wouldnt they see in the ct scan and ultra sound that my right ovary is in close proximity of my appendix and wouldve said something? or only my gynecologist can see that? im just very curious and worried, sorry for all these questions.
Avatar f tn I went to hospital with severe lower abdominal pain. After several tests, they noticed a cyst or tumour (radiologist's words exactly) on right ovary, and swollen appendix and elevated white cell count. Surgeon opted to not to an appendectomy as he felt that I have a cyst which leaked fluid causing irritation to appendix. I was not prescribed any antibiotics or painkillers. The pain has since eased off - now sporadic.
Avatar f tn They did an Ultrasound which was highly susceptible for appendicitis it showed that it was not compressable, had minimal hypermiea, I was very tender and showed top normally enlarged. So since on Ultrasound it was highly showed appendicitis they took me right away to have a CT Scan with contrast which didn’t show any inflammation of appendix but showed two cysts on right ovary largest measures 2.1cm. So doctor in ER confirmed that my right quadrant stomach pain is due to the cysts.
Avatar f tn After a CT scan they determined I had appendicitis along with a mass on my ovary, which my ovary was doubled in size. They determined I had a 3cm hemorrhagic cyst with small calcium particles on my ovary. Nothing further was said or done about the cyst. The pain somewhat subsided after my appendectomy but I still have pain and I have a brownish/red discharge and I find I cant hold my bladder. Could I have a more severe condition?
Avatar f tn following surgery i was treated for 6 months of intense chemotherapy. The right ovary and fallopian tube was obviously removed but left my other ovary and womb in tact. I went on to have a lovely normal baby boy and pregnancy was text book, after a few years my periods started getting heavy so i went to my g.p and she referred me for internal vaginal scan and ultra sound just to check it out. I have just received the reults showing i have uterine fibroids and polycystic ovary.
Avatar f tn In the beginning of February, I was dealing with bad heartburn and anxiety, but around the middle (I'll say the 20th), my right ovary began hurting really bad and it was hard for me to make a bowel movement. And whenever I finished urinating, the pain would begin and I feel nauseous. I went to a (bad) doctor visit and after blood work, they said my hormones, blood sugar, and everything was fine but to see a specialist about my ovary.
Avatar m tn Had ultrasound for pcos consultant radiographer called in as no right ovary was detected.A mass was near ovary sight 4.5cmx2.3cm it has 2 appearances and is echogenicity.Does anyone have any idea what 2 appearances means? We are awaiting mri for diagnoses this isto be donewithin 4 weeks.
Avatar f tn I am suffering from the cyst in my right ovary for the past 16 months.my ultrasound reports are showing the cyst clearly but my doctors say that there is no need to work.
Avatar n tn chronic involvement of appendix (many a times ultrasound misses this as the appendix in such cases is hidden behind loops of intestine and typical symptoms of appendicitis are absent), involvement of kidney and inflammation of your intestine. Lower right abdomen pain is commonly due to appendicitis. The pain, can at times come and go and not give the classic picture.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what the difference is between a cyst that is IN the ovary vs. a cyst that is ADJACENT TO an ovary? Would an adjacent cyst still originate from the ovary? Can dermoid cysts be adjacent or must they be inside the ovary? I'm still trying to understand all this new terminology of ovarian cysts. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Pain in the lower right area may be from inflamed glands, appendicitis, renal colic or muscular problem. Have to lifted or moved anything heavy before this pain came on? As you are also feeling unwell, I suggest you make an appointment to see your doctor to get the correct diagnosis. Take a morning urine sample with you. You could use a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel to stop skin burn and place this on the painful side and take pain relief as directed on the packet.
Avatar f tn Hello there. Just saw you left a message on my page, you were wondering if anyone still checks it ........ Here I am. ............ And Oh boy do I understand your frustrations!! Make sure they thoroughly check your appendix. That is what happened to me. What you explained above sounds a bit how my nightmare started out. Gyno issues, not Gyno issues, Gyno issues .....UGH!! I lost an ovary because of this. "Chronic Appendicitis" ......
Avatar f tn I'm having this too, also 35wks. I spent most of yesterday in obed because baby's head is smashing my ovary and they thought I may have appendicitis... the shooting pains however are so odd, kinda make me jump a lil bit!
203342 tn?1328737207 Thanks. I've been having problems with I think my diaphragm too so maybe it is intestinal. When I bend over I feel like my colon kinks up or something and I have to quickly straighten back up again and I'll feel it relax. I'm assuming it's my diaphragm. And I don't have to worry about appendicitis because I had my appendix out 4 years ago. One less thing to worry about!
Avatar f tn s where my right ovary is, or at least close to it. Closer to my hip but between the hip and belly button. If that makes any sense. Am I just bein paranoid about this? I'm always getting brushed off for these kinds of things..
215164 tn?1269466240 Is there a difference between having a cyst in the ovary vs. on the ovary? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
671285 tn?1292660161 Are my symptoms classinc signs of IBS? Stress? Or am I having appendicitis? I am scare though. The doctor cannot see me until next week. Dont know what to do. Feel sick.
Avatar n tn I recently had a CT scan the doctors thought I had kidney stones or appendicitis only to find a 8.4 cm x7.2 cm x 4.3 cm multicystic structure on my right adnexal with soft tissue centrally that maybe related to ovarian tissue. I have a gyn appointment for an ultrasound. What is the chance that it is ovarian cancer, since it is so big is there a great chance that it could be more dangerous. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn Lower right abdomen pain is commonly due to appendicitis. The pain, can at times come and go and not give the classic picture. Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, ovary involvement in women, ectopic pregnancy in women (ruled out due to long history) , and mesentry (a thin tissue that carries the blood, nerves and lymphatics for the intestine) involvement.
Avatar f tn I knew I had a small cyst on my right ovary so I thought maybe it had grown. Went to my OBGYN and she confirmed the cyst was still there but only 1.8cm which barely qualifies as a cyst and couldn't be causing me my pain. She said my symptoms sounded like appendicitis and sent me to the hospital for a CT scan. The scan came back normal. The following day the pain increased and I went to the ER. They also saw the cyst on ultrasound and admitted me for further tests.
Avatar n tn I just spent over 10 hours in the ER yesterday. I went in for SEVERE abdominal pain, nausea, high fever, body aches. they conducted both an sonogram and CT scan; they found an enlarged right ovary and told me that the bloodflow was "different" (I think they meant in comparison to the other ovary). the right ovary measures 2.1 X 4.4 X 2.5cm. the left is 1.7 X 1 X 1.1 cm. There was "no free fluid within the pelvis." My WBC count was also elevated (14.
