Appendicitis symptoms versus gas pains

Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis symptoms versus gas pains

appendicitis

Avatar n tn I felt very full and was always thirsty. I urinated a lot due to drinking so much water. The pains were never sharp. I looked so bloated even though my diet was regular and did not consist of too much dairy or salt. My periods were also very irregular. I went to my primary who thought it was appendicitis on examination even though I mentioned a history of ovarian cysts in my mother, and my aunt died of cancer. The doctor sent me to the emergency room.
1003498 tn?1263919526 i have been having pain in my lower abdomen for about 10 days. i dont consider it pelvic pain which i have had bouts with only because it is not only in my pelvis. at first i though that it was my birth control because my periods have been all out of whack, but as of the past few days it has been strictly related to gas and bowel movements. i have pain 24/7, but i get really bad sharp pains right before a bowel movement or passing gas.
644974 tn?1312758070 how far along are you? I have been having this HORRIBLE dull pain on my lower side which Dr's on tuesday brushed it off as round ligament pain, I've been suffering with it for a few days now specially when I get up too fast. Its HORRIBLE. I'm 19 weeks. However, it could also be something more serious like appendicitis, so i'd get a second opinion, they should have given you a u/s at the emergency room to rule out appendicitis or kidney stone or something serious like that.
Avatar f tn 30 am with bad stomach pain (top middle), bloating, and gas. I went the the ER about 6 hours later and received indigestion meds. I felt much better outside of mild abdominal discomfort from gas still. Now the next day my lower right stomach is pretty tender, nowhere else, just lower right side. Should I be worried about appendicitis? Could it be tender from extreme gas and bloating? Thoughts?
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I have not vomited or had diarrhea nor do I have a fever. Do I have appendicitis or is it just gas?
Avatar m tn For the past few days I've had pain right above my hip but its not severe and i don't have any other symptoms but I'm very scared right now because i think i have appendicitis i don't want surgery...my mom who is a nurse said that it cannot be that because the pain i describe isn't severe and that i should lay off the coffee that i drink.
Avatar n tn It could be a number of things, and, if I were you, if it kept up, I would see the doctor and have them do some blood work to rule some things out, sometimes appendicitis can mimic gas pains, it would not hurt to check.
Avatar f tn I always figured that the symptoms would appear and then the problem would occur, but I have been having these symptoms for a little less than a month, really. The thing is though I'm not sure if my symptoms are enough to match up with an appendicitis.. and it could be other things, maybe. Less severe problems. Anyway, I wanted to put this out there. It's not just the threat of an actual, serious problem, but also the discomfort. Just hope this isn't anything serious.
Avatar f tn Like it says, not a pretty subject, but anyways, I have been having really bad pains a little before I have to have a bowel movement. It's not gas, I get those pains quite strongly too tho. I am not constipated either. It's a little scary because don't have the urge to go yet when the pain starts. It's in emy stomach/back, where u would probably expect it to be. I guess I am just wondering if others get this, is it normal, is there anyway to relieve it?
Avatar m tn Well 2 years ago I had an appendicitis and i was operated to take it off.. Before that I rearly had any gas problems, but now after my operation, I started getting filled with gas.. Uptill the last month or so it was normal but now, i wake up bloated full of air, and sometimes i get sharp pains in my sides, i drink water (not exagerated but i drink), and i remain like this throughout all the day.. I went to the doctor and he gave me something to get rid of the gas ill have..
Avatar f tn I have been having pains in my left side of my abdomen below the ribcage. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy today and they came back normal. I have no desire to eat only 1 meal per day and I have been vomitting up the food when I eat it. The pain does not go away. It is a dull pain. I have had my gallbladder out for years. The docto said he was going to run another test.
Avatar n tn My question is. I get pains in the upper left quadrant of my abdomen. I have contact nausea and slight unsteadiness. I have had a CT of my head and a ECG of my heart to rule out anything extremely serious. At times the nausea gets soo bad i feel like i may faint. Also the pains in my abdomen seem to get worse when i eat or after a night out drinking.
Avatar f tn So I've been having pains in my lower right stomach... like ovary area. It hurts to cough, sneeze, laugh, sit up, lay down... basically to use any stomach muscles. It started yesterday, I'm almost 17 wks. Is this something I should be concerned about or is it just the round ligament pains I was warned about? I am completely clueless...
Avatar m tn A couple of inches to the right of my naval i have been getting pains over the last 5 weeks. The pain comes on very strong and can range from 3-4 seconds to a few minutes. The frequency of pain also ranges from several times a day to nothing on other days. I have had an Ultrasound done, Xray and blood and urine tests in hospital. All came back negative. I have seen 2 different doctors with 2 different possibilities. I van only say for sure that it is always the same spot the pain shows.
1044894 tn?1253339091 I was wondering if this is just post-op gas pains, or something more serious. I also want to know if i could be relieved. I'm wiling to go to the doctor for it. Thank You !
Avatar f tn I am 20 years old, and on Friday July 1st I was brought to the hospital after having pains in the right side of my stomach. They started near my belly button then moved around my stomach. While at the hospital I had a blood test, and an ultrasound done to check for appendicitis. And everything came back normal.
Avatar f tn Usually lower abdominal pain on ur rt side is ur appendix. Look up signs and symptoms of appendicitis online to make sure. Is it sharp pains?
Avatar f tn This was also accompanied by fever and chills. I am not pregnant, so I know it is not labor pains of any type. My doctor put me on an antibiotic and said come back in a week if it is not any better. Any ideas of what might be causing these pains?
Avatar n tn It sounds like the appendix. It can be acute or start out with slight pain and get worse. I would see a doctor.
Avatar f tn t aware that laying on their right side can cause gas to build up in your colon and form a gas bubble. The way the colon is shaped and with the gas rising upward, when laying on the right side it gets trapped in the ascending and transverse sections of the colon and is not as easily expelled as it is when laying on the left side. I recommend trying some OTC treatments like beano, gas X, prilosec, prevacid, Mylanta, mylox etc. for a few days.
Avatar f tn Monitor your syptoms cause nausea, back pain, pain on right side and bloating r also symptoms of appendicitis. I had appendicitis while i was pregnant so didn't notice the symptoms of appendicitis cause i just thought it was pregnacy symptoms.if pain gets worse or you get fever go to doctor.
Avatar n tn ulcer/perforation, costochondritis possibly, and maybe an inflammation of stomach/duodenom/upper GI as others mentioned. You'd need to note when this pain usually starts, if it's after you eat a certain food, or if you even get headaches or quite possibly describe the pain on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst. I hope you find out what's up, gooduck!
Avatar n tn You really need to get to the hospital if the pain is too bad to stand. It could be a nasty gallbladder attack, appendicitis, or a bunch of other potentially serious things. If you have a fever and/or lack of an appetite go to the ER ASAP.
Avatar f tn Could be severe gas pains and constipation, I get severe gas pains that almost drop me, they give me the chills and I feel like I'll pass out then I either get diarrhea or I poo, try drinking 5 bottles of water throughout the rest of time you're awake and see if you can go poo, if you poo and it still hurts like that I'd go to your dr and see if she can help you.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 21 year old female. I have been having intense stomach pains for the past 8 months or so. It sets in about 2-3 hours (sometimes as soon as 1 hr) after I eat. The pain can be described as intense burning, like I am hungry. However, I know that I cannot possibly be this hungry all the time, because my diet is quite normal and I am not eating more or less than I should. The pain is localized to my upper abdomen, just underneath my sternum.
