Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety disorder chest pain

anxiety

Avatar f tn It can be quite frightening. Feeling that you are about to lose control, feeling you are about to die, chest pain, pain that radiates down your arm as if you are having a heart atack. Trouble breathing, feeling like you are choking. Anti anxieties can help, as well as benzodiazepines until the anti anxiety kicks in.
Avatar n tn I have been to the doctor to check my chest pain - via ECG and my ECG is normal. The doctor also did a thyroid test and it is normal. is this signs of anxiety disorder?
Avatar n tn Whether you have generalized anxiety or social anxiety or garden variety anxiety can only be diagnosed by a doctor.........and at the young age of 13, (even tho it's obvious you are mature for your age) your hormones are kicking into high gear and that can sometimes bring on anxiety. I would urge you to talk to your parents about these feelings and I believe a talk with your doctor is in order. You do not have to feel this way. You'll be fine as long as you reach out for the help you need.

Avatar n tn When I was first diagnosed with panic disorder they did an ECG and took my blood so I should feel comfortable knowing that theres nothing wrong with my heart but for some reason I'm really obsessing about it and it's causing me a lot of anxiety. I don't just get the chest pain during a panic attak, for example I could just be watching a movie, talking on the phone, playing with my daughter, etc. So I ge tthe chest pain and start to freak out.
1345426 tn?1276457456 Chest pain can be an anxiety symptom. It sounds like your having GERD problems. It can be worse when you lay down and the acid comes up into your throat. Are you having any burning sensations in your stomach or throat? Since this sounds like a fairly new symptom for you the best thing to do is see your Dr. You need to find out if it's anxiety, GERD or something else that's going on. Your Dr can prescribe medication to control the acid if it is GERD, or he may suggest an over the counter med.
Avatar n tn I feel much better and the anxiety pretty much gone. The only thing I still have is chest pain (but i don't feel anxious and not afraid of it anymore), (for example today I had a small cup of coffee and got a really bad pain/pressure in the middle of my chest - heart attack symptoms, even thought about going to the ER, but then decided that i was just fed up with it and no one can help me anyway). Sometimes I get shortness of breath and chest pain after sex or exercise, sometimes I don't.
Avatar n tn The doctor will want to try to eliminate as many things as you can that might be causing your chest pain. Some common things to think about include GERD, anxiety/panic disorder, costochondritis (inflammation in the joints where the ribs attach to your sternum...not very likely), or angina (chest pain that may predict a heart attack...however, not likely if your stress test is normal). If you don't mind, you did say one of your EKGs was abnormal...what exactly was abnormal about it?
243059 tn?1202380952 I'm on Levothyroxine for that and now it is within normal range. I have been having a crushing constant pain in my chest like its being squeezed with a vice. At times it seems to go from the left side to the right side and sometimes down around my kidneys. I have difficulty sleeping and my right ear rings constantly. I am on .5 mgs of xanax three times a day. It seems to mask the symptoms but I know its still there.
Avatar m tn i get this sharp chest pain whenever i get angry could that be cause from my anxiety disorder.im only 21 with anxiety disorder with no family history of heart problems.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder last year, stemming from many things, including frequent PVC's as a young child. They were a terror a night when I was young, and I would have many panic attacks from them. I mostly grew out of them, save for one or two really big skips every few weeks or so. I've had an EKG just laying on a table, and it came out clean. I've recently decided to start doing more than walking as exercise, and am trying to build up some running endurance.
Avatar m tn I couldn't stop researching my symptoms that would occur such as lower stomach pain and pain in my testicles and thought I had testicular cancer, went to see a doctor who did a physical examination and said there was nothing abnormal in my testicles or any lumps on my body. I think I could be suffering from anxiety, and I feel like I am constantly thinking about what could be wrong with me. I am depressed and want to live a normal life again.
489725 tn?1280056153 hi i wont write a big question, i get a lot of chest wall pain that gets worst with anxiety and was wondering if anybody had tips on how to calm it down{chest pain} without anti-inflammatories.
Avatar n tn I also get regular shortness of breath (although I'm almost convinced that it's chronic hyperventilation syndrome), that does not coincide with any chest pain. It is a nuisance though. I have diagnosed health anxiety / panic disorder. I saw a cardiologist 2 months ago and underwent a resting ECG, exercise ECG + echo. All results fine. Spirometry shows lungs all okay.
Avatar m tn By the way, panic disorder is anxiety times a hundred, so if you have panic disorder, it follows that you are anxious. I also take clonazepam for my disorder, and after a year of exposure therapy and that medicine, I could have gone off it, I do believe. But instead, since I am an older person, we all agreed why not take it. The drug also helps me with other problems I have from a car accident.
Avatar f tn By the way, chest pain can be caused by a lot of things other than anxiety or heart problems. You might have tweaked it lifting something or doing exercise. You might have slept wrong. You might have seasonal allergies. Could be a lot of things.
Avatar n tn bone) Headaches dizziness lethargic weird ear pain/sounds painful/stiff neck nausea IBS feeling weak chest pain/palpatations I had these pains for a couple years buy they worstened within the last 6 months Hope this makes you feel better. Medicine isnt for everyone so maybe you should try things like daily meditations, excersize, yoga, or maybe even acupuncture. Your not alone and if the tests say negative, then maybe you are ok. You can go to a specialist also. Take care.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder in 2006. Back then, I was in a very stressful sales role and managing a really bad relationship where a third party was involved. I thought I was able to manage it very well by ending the relationship then. One night, I was trying to relax and had a mask on my face. I fell asleep but suddenly woke up feeling extremely breathless and I thought I was going to due from a heart attack!
Avatar f tn The attacks that are the worst usually happen between noon and 2 pm. My doctor labeled it as anxiety disorder/panic attacks and started treating me with Zoloft and xanac because it coincided with my my father-in-law being hit by a car and seriously hurt... I am not (in general) an over-anxious person). Since I developed the new symptoms the test has not been repeated (because they started within a week of the first test). I just started the Zoloft today...
Avatar n tn For 7 months now I have been in constant pain due to anxiety. I have chest pain that moves all around my rib cage area, front, back & sides. I also suffer from extreme stomach aches and cramps. I have presented at hospital emergancy around 5 times convinced that I was dying. I have had extensive tests run from everything like heart problems, stomach ulcers, reflux, urine infections, IBS and more.
1553173 tn?1358437689 AHHH the main question. Is the anxiety causing the chest pain or is the chest pain causing the anxiety. Either way you need a doctor willing to find out.
Avatar m tn But the pain i feel in my chest is quite painful to the point where im having trouble sleeping. There are days when my legs feel weak and i dont feel like i can do the things i usually do on the court. I also tend to wake up with a numb arm. Anybody know whats going on? please help. thank you.
Avatar n tn I wake up almost everynight and sometimes, not often, with a sharp pain in my upper chest, but it never last more than a minute or so. I start to sweat, because it scares me to death and my heart rate increases. I am now wearing a thirty day King of Hearts. I always record when there is that pain. Will a King of Hearts identify any of the sharp pains? How successful is a Nuclear Test in identifing coronary heart disease? If it were angina wouldn't I have it when I exercise and really stressed?
851041 tn?1240699024 I am a 30 year old male with health anxiety. I have noticed that my Health anxiety is at its highest the day after a bingeBinge eating of Alcohol. The symptoms that a hangover produces are often in my case mistaken for serious health problems. For example, if i am feeling sick or have a severe headache i relate it too perhaps a brain haemorrhage or stroke, and i find that it plays with my heart too, giving me chest pains and palpitationsHeart palpitations.
