I've been suffering from anxiety for many years now. I'm on Xanax and Aurorix. l take 0.125 Xanax only at night and 150 mg of Aurorix twice a day. This is after the discussion with my doctor. My anxiety is very much controlled. However, my anxiety becomes very bad when I become the center of attention. I dread public speaking but it can't be avoided sometimes. Do people with anxiety disorder dread the same thing as I do? Is it because I'm taking too little dose of Xanax?
So I've just recently become open with my social anxiety. I remember being in middle school and thinking that something was horribly wrong with me. I would get so nervouse around people. My body would tremble, my voice would shake and I couldn't think clearly. I've become more comfortable with being uncomfortable, and yes I do notice that there are plenty of people that are shy, but I really hate the fact that my real personality can't show when I'm around people.
Paxil and Lexapro was about the only 2 I could really tolerate and that worked. I had pretty good success on it and was on for 3 years at one point. I liked it-but you have to really give it a good 3 months for your body to adjust to it if your sensitive and to ride out some of the side effects. It made me a little more sweaty and a little increase in anxiety but helped greatly with motivation, ocd, and social anxiety.
Yes you do have social anxiety. I have had it for years and now it has turned into agoraphobia. I also have panic attacks. I am not saying all this could happen to you but just be aware of these things.
Have you seen a therapist? I stay secluded to my home but my therapist is trying to help me with these issues. I take xanax for the panic attacks and anxiety. But they do have different meds.
I suggest you go to a mental health facility in your area. They can be quite helpful.

So nardil is a great medication for social anxiety disorder, however I'm too afraid to take it in pill form because of the dietary restrictions it imposes. I was wondering if I can get a pharmacist to convert my pill prescription into an injectable dosage so that the medication bypasses my gut.
I have severe anxiety and a panic.disorder. I take xanax bars when I'm not pregnant. But pregnant I take low doses of melatonin. Most people use it for sleep but I have a high drug tolerance so I was suggested it by my doc. It works amazing it calms my nerves like my xanax doe. and its all natural and safe during pregnancy. Ask your ob about it.
When my anxiety first appeared it was going through a line at the grocery store. I remember thinking how am I ever going to sign my name? Well I chickened out and fleed the store instead with all my groceries behind me.It scared me to death!! . My son was a little boy back then and said "Mommy, why are you leaving the groceries behind? Hi, yes I have anxiety disorder and am on xanex. I have general anxiety disorder, panic disorder with agoraphobia and lately, social anxiety as well. I generally take .5 mg 3 times a day except when I have to do something like cross a bridge or drive on a freeway or do something really anxiety provoking for me. On days like that, I need 2 mg of xanex to do anything and another 2 mg of xanex if I'm in the same situation 4 hours later.
I took it for Generalized Anxiety disorder, my mom still takes it for full blown panic attack disorder and both of us know it may help you fall asleep but it won't necessarily help you get quality sleep. Have you tried any alternatives? I understand by the way, I have depression, anxiety, PTSD, all kinds of fun stuff!
I have the same problem. i was on xanax 6mg a day for a long time and almost went to rehab for them. I have bottles and bottles of them in my room and looking at them and remembering how they made me feel like a zombie, gives me the strength not to take them and say I don't need xanax to run my life. however to completely contradict what i just said, i switched to klonopin 4mg a day and i feel much more stable, even mood swings.
Personally speaking I haven't overcome a panic disorder but I do feel my anxiety is getting under better control for lack of a better way to put it. Trust me there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you aren't seeing a therapist along with taking the meds than please consider it.
Also please please don't drink and take xanax, it's a very dangerous combination.

Anxiety disorder runs in my family. I took several medications, but nothing ever helped much until a Dr. prescribed xanax for me. xanax is the best medication i've found for my anxiety disorder, panic and anxiety attacks. I've been taking them since the 70's, and i have never abused them, only took what my Dr. prescribed.They are habit forming.
