Social anxiety disorder xanax

Common Questions and Answers about Social anxiety disorder xanax

396332 tn?1320003615 Well Sweetie, I guess you told me, didn't you? First of all, I would tell ANYONE, be they 21 or 91, to grow up if they were mixing benzos with alcohol. Secondly, you have been DANGEROUSLY misinformed that Xanax and alcohol is NOT a lethal mix. Ask one of my best friends who buried her daughter last year after a bout of drinking and taking some of her mothers Xanax. She, tragically, probably thought it would help her "calm down and feel more social.
Avatar m tn I've been suffering from anxiety for many years now. I'm on Xanax and Aurorix. l take 0.125 Xanax only at night and 150 mg of Aurorix twice a day. This is after the discussion with my doctor. My anxiety is very much controlled. However, my anxiety becomes very bad when I become the center of attention. I dread public speaking but it can't be avoided sometimes. Do people with anxiety disorder dread the same thing as I do? Is it because I'm taking too little dose of Xanax?
15043259 tn?1438079981 First line treatment is cognitive behavioural therapy for OCD or panic disorder, and metacognitive therapy for GAD and social anxiety disorder. If medications are to be used, it would be SSRI or SNRI, and in some cases a small dose of atypical antipsychotics. Benzos are avoided in the treatment of anxiety disorders (they are almost only used for situational anxiety like stage fright or fear of flying).
1005799 tn?1250391928 I ended up addicted to Xanax. My doctor explained the Xanax is like a cigarette, it enters the system and burns off quickly, like nicotine. Then you crave more. It was horrible. The switch has done me good. It takes longer for the Klonopin to get out of your system. I didn't notice a difference. You may want to talk to your doctor about an antidepressant to base line support you also.
605458 tn?1539228808 t take the antidepressants right now because of my bipolar disorder and I hate using medications like Xanax. Anyone know of any alternatives or tricks to help brush away the social anxiety so I can look at this opportunity realistically? Maybe I would have to resort to a tiny dose of the Xanax just in the beginning.
Avatar f tn So I've just recently become open with my social anxiety. I remember being in middle school and thinking that something was horribly wrong with me. I would get so nervouse around people. My body would tremble, my voice would shake and I couldn't think clearly. I've become more comfortable with being uncomfortable, and yes I do notice that there are plenty of people that are shy, but I really hate the fact that my real personality can't show when I'm around people.
Avatar n tn Paxil and Lexapro was about the only 2 I could really tolerate and that worked. I had pretty good success on it and was on for 3 years at one point. I liked it-but you have to really give it a good 3 months for your body to adjust to it if your sensitive and to ride out some of the side effects. It made me a little more sweaty and a little increase in anxiety but helped greatly with motivation, ocd, and social anxiety.
595559 tn?1241140638 I have EXTREME social anxiety.......just going to the grocery store makes me go crazy in my head and get super nervous! I am perscribed to Seroguil and Clozopan. I have been self-medicating now for a long time. (with pain pills and xanax bars) I am in the process of withdrawling form them once and for all. I want to learn how to deal with people and everyday life situations without getting really high anxiety that can lead to panic attacks! My Dad has always had this problem...
Avatar f tn Yes you do have social anxiety. I have had it for years and now it has turned into agoraphobia. I also have panic attacks. I am not saying all this could happen to you but just be aware of these things. Have you seen a therapist? I stay secluded to my home but my therapist is trying to help me with these issues. I take xanax for the panic attacks and anxiety. But they do have different meds. I suggest you go to a mental health facility in your area. They can be quite helpful.
Avatar n tn He then told me that I have panic disorder, general anxiety disorder and social anxiety, he gave me luxtanil to help me sleep and seroxat CR 25 mg (paxil). After reading horror stories of paxil, I decided not to take it so he gave me cipralex (Lexapro) 10 mg and said its safe and helpful and its side effects and withdrawal are much less than paxil. I am still afraid to start the medication to tell you the truth.
605458 tn?1539228808 I have some pretty severe social anxiety, unfortunately, I also have bipolar1 disorder and I can't take the Zoloft that used to work for the anxiety because it makes me manic. I have a prescription for Xanax that I am afraid to use. I don't need an addiction on top of everything else or for me to do something horrible during a serious manic or depressed state. I have had some great opportunities to get out and be somewhat social.
Avatar m tn So nardil is a great medication for social anxiety disorder, however I'm too afraid to take it in pill form because of the dietary restrictions it imposes. I was wondering if I can get a pharmacist to convert my pill prescription into an injectable dosage so that the medication bypasses my gut.
Avatar n tn In middle I had a few friends but in high school I moved and couldnt make any friends at all. Then I learned about social anxiety disorder and is sound alot like me and i have other anxiety disorders like hypocondira and OCD. But it could be aspergers.
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed - by a psychiatrist - with Social Anxiety Disorder. I've been taking Lexapro for almost 2 months - started on 10 mg and the dosage was up to 20 mg two weeks ago. Also, for the last 3 months I've been speaking every week or two with a licensed professional counselor. My main problem is associating with people that are close to my age range, I'm 26.
1946252 tn?1324230233 I am not a doctor, but one difference between taking Xanax on as-needed basis, and taking it on a maintenance basis, is that of addiction. I take it only on an as-needed basis and the small dosage remains effective. I presume that for some ailments it may be necessary to take it at specific intervals. but doing so increases the likelihood of having to resort to higher dosages at some point.
Avatar f tn I have severe anxiety and a panic.disorder. I take xanax bars when I'm not pregnant. But pregnant I take low doses of melatonin. Most people use it for sleep but I have a high drug tolerance so I was suggested it by my doc. It works amazing it calms my nerves like my xanax doe. and its all natural and safe during pregnancy. Ask your ob about it.
Avatar f tn When my anxiety first appeared it was going through a line at the grocery store. I remember thinking how am I ever going to sign my name? Well I chickened out and fleed the store instead with all my groceries behind me.It scared me to death!! . My son was a little boy back then and said "Mommy, why are you leaving the groceries behind? I couldn't explain why. That's when I went to the doc and he prescribed Xanax for me and it worked. You say Xanax doesn't work for you?
Avatar m tn Hi, yes I have anxiety disorder and am on xanex. I have general anxiety disorder, panic disorder with agoraphobia and lately, social anxiety as well. I generally take .5 mg 3 times a day except when I have to do something like cross a bridge or drive on a freeway or do something really anxiety provoking for me. On days like that, I need 2 mg of xanex to do anything and another 2 mg of xanex if I'm in the same situation 4 hours later.
739988 tn?1386672969 I also have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I take Ativan as needed and Xanax as needed, my body is adjusting to them and they are not working as well. I was wondering, is there a med to take all the time for anxiety? I mean like I take a med for depression, a med for mania, is there one for anxiety? Thank you for your help.
398624 tn?1266269449 Me again!! I have generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. I have a SEVERE case of both!! Can anyone here tell me the best fast acting anxiety pill (like xanax or ativan-ive tried both, my body i think is immune to those now!!) I see my psychiatrist tomorrow and would like some ideas!!
2044839 tn?1331255841 Has anyone tried this medicine for anxiety? Thoughts? Comments? Safe to take with Xanax .5mg? Just got it perscribed to me since Celexa and Paxil were giving me to many side effects.
Avatar n tn I took it for Generalized Anxiety disorder, my mom still takes it for full blown panic attack disorder and both of us know it may help you fall asleep but it won't necessarily help you get quality sleep. Have you tried any alternatives? I understand by the way, I have depression, anxiety, PTSD, all kinds of fun stuff!
Avatar n tn I have the same problem. i was on xanax 6mg a day for a long time and almost went to rehab for them. I have bottles and bottles of them in my room and looking at them and remembering how they made me feel like a zombie, gives me the strength not to take them and say I don't need xanax to run my life. however to completely contradict what i just said, i switched to klonopin 4mg a day and i feel much more stable, even mood swings.
5154898 tn?1374773319 Hello there. Yes, anxiety can occur every day, but it doesn't have to stay like that. You're right at the age when an anxiety disorder (like panic disorder, GAD, social anxiety disorder) presents itself for the majority of people who are diagnosed. It sounds like you've already reached out for help from your doctor, that's a great start, but obviously, what you're doing presently isn't getting the anxiety to an acceptable, manageable level.
Avatar n tn Personally speaking I haven't overcome a panic disorder but I do feel my anxiety is getting under better control for lack of a better way to put it. Trust me there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you aren't seeing a therapist along with taking the meds than please consider it. Also please please don't drink and take xanax, it's a very dangerous combination.
