Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine zyrtec d

antihistamine

1274661 tn?1301868321 Thanks, Selma. I do take the zyrtec at night, but I guess it is not enough. Last time I was at the doctor he told me to take claritin-D in the morning and zyrtec at night. I really didn't want to try the claritin-D because it is a decongestant and they make me feel crazy and just seem to drain everything into my chest. Maybe I can ask about taking regular claritin in the morning and zyrtec at night. May I ask what you are and were taking?
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar m tn Make sure that the antihistamine you're taking doesn't have a decongestant included. I've taken Zyrtec D prior to bed a few times and stared at the ceiling for hours.
Avatar m tn m allergic to Allegra-D, and Zyrtec makes me feel like a zombie. Hot water with lemon seems to help my throat, but it seems the condition just doesn't want to go away, no matter what I do. Is there any medication that actually works reducing swelling, inflammation, etc..... All suggestions/experience appreciated. Oh and allergist told me to take aspirin when my throat swells, but aspirin doesn't help either.
Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced severe itching problems when they stop taking Zyrtec?
850029 tn?1238857820 Does anyone know if you can grow resistant to antihistamines? I've been on Zyrtec for a year and feel like it doesn't work as well as it used to. I know that I have more allergens around me but would think I still should be getting relief. I spend at least $100 a month trying to get some relief. I'm thinking with nothing working I should just save myself $100:) the only time I feel someone what better is taking Advil Cold and Sinus, the Zyrtec seems to do nothing......
Avatar n tn Hi, it sounds like you have had quite an ordeal with these allergies! i also have allergies, but mine were bad enough that i developed asthma and had to go on several medications to get it under control, now i only take zyrtec as needed. i don't know about allergies that are "digested first" with zyrtec, everyone has different reactions- but zyrtec is systemic so it should be help equally with your sore throat and itching.
Avatar f tn We just adopted Penny last week. Our vet says she may have allergies and put her on benadryl 25 mg (she weighs 16 lbs) twice a day until he rechecks her on 1/7. The rescue organization wrote me and said benadryl was not safe; to use zyrtec (which I do on my male that I've had almost 10 years). Is benadryl safe for approximately 1 month's use? We want only the best for Penny. What should we do?
Avatar m tn We are currently traveling, since around 6 days ago my wife suddenly had a allergic reaction to something causing her to break out in red spots (without bumps) on her arm joints, knee caps, foot and hands which itches and swells. She has been taking claritan D and benedryl but that helps only a little. Yesterday she went to the ER and they gave her an IV with an antihistamine and anti inflammatory corticosteroid with 2 days worth of the same in pill form.
681148 tn?1437661591 It seems like Akira has seasonal allergies and dust allergies in addition to her food allergies. Because I really don't want to give her long term steroids, I decided to only give her the 1/4 tablet of Zyrtec that the vet told me to give her before. I try to wait 'til I just have to give it to her, because I know that people can build up a tolerance to antihistamines, so I figure that animals can, too.
Avatar n tn These types of questions are always best answered by a docotor or pharmacist. However, phenylephedrin is a decongestant, benadryl is an antihistamine and vicodin is a narcotic pain reliever. The concern would be that both bendryl and the vicodin would cause drowziness on their own. They would magnify that effect when taken together. You might want to take Zyrtec instead of the benadryl as Zyrtec doesn't cause the drowziness that benadryl does.
Avatar n tn Or could this be a food allergy? I take a wonderful antihistamine called xyzal. It works really well but when it wears off I'm in trouble. I'm getting an allergy test soon but have to be off the antihistamine for 5 days and I'm scared about that. I get so uncomfortable. Has anyone out there ever experienced this similiar problem?
Avatar f tn t have an appointmet with my doctor for two weeks. I had been taking singulair and zyrtec but I stopped until I can clear it with my doctor. Are these medicines safe and if not is there a safe one out there?
Avatar f tn I have seasonal allergies and was wondering the best OTC antihistamine would work better. Allegra, Zyrtec or loratadine. I was on 12.5 zoloft for 2 weeks and tapering up to 25 mg (split another 12.5 in half so 3/4 a pill then one whole 25 mg. I have to do this slowly as I am super sensitive to meds. Thanks for any help. Plus I eventually need to taper down my ativan when I level on the zoloft.
Avatar m tn It does sound like allergies to me. Try an antihistamine such as Zyrtec, Claritin, Allegra, or Chlor-Trimeton. You can try Benedryl but it tends to cause drowsiness more than the others I mentioned.
Avatar f tn I was told benadryl or zyrtec.
Avatar f tn //www.healthline.com/health/childrens-health/zyrtec-child-allergies#talk-with-your-doctor Flonase is a bit different. I assume you were also buying that over the counter? This too is generally regarded as safe but is recommended to only be used 2 months out of the year unless your doctor has said otherwise. It's a nasal steroid. These have been associated with usually insignificant slowing of growth. https://www.post-gazette.
Avatar m tn Ive been on every antihistamine, OTC & Rx. Ive tried every sunblock. Ive even been on XOLAIR for 6 months, but stopped because i wasnt getting much relief from it. so im going back to antihistamines, but no matter which one i use, it knocks me out! l cant function. my doctor told me to take montelukast sodium with zyrtec. if i take these at night, will they still be as effective the next day? will i still be drowsy all day?
Avatar f tn suidfed is okay as well.
Avatar f tn Pretty much, yyou can't take anything with a decongestant. Normal, regular antihistamine should be fine.
714275 tn?1295226265 Two years ago, my doctor told me to take Zyrtec. It worked within minutes! I took it regularly and when I ran out of pills I then went without for a few days. I had noticed a very odd reaction from not having it in my system. A horrible isolated itch with raised areas, swelling, and burning. I never had an itching like this before. It was as if the Zyrtec isolated the allergen and made it dormant within my body, until the medicine was out of my system.
1517808 tn?1290813790 I have the same condition. My general doctor referred me to an allergist/immunologist, and I was told that I have autoimmune urticaria (hives). I was prescribed an antihistamine (Zyrtec), Zantac75 (an antacid that also has "alpha blocker" properties), and Doxepin (an antidepressant that also has "alpha blocker" properties. Over time, I stopped taking the Zyrtec and Zantac. Now I am only taking the Doxepin. This seems to control everything pretty well.
