666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.

Avatar m tn Stage of Research EAE mice treated daily with anti-histamine receptor 1 have decreased disease severity and delayed onset of the disease compared to controls. Also, treatment with antihistamine receptor 1 leads to significant changes in the serum IgG recognition of some healthy brain antigenic targets. Advantage Safe - antihistamines are established drugs with less severe side effects than current MS treatments e.g.
Avatar f tn Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
Avatar n tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g.

1965789 tn?1325556251 It may be worth asking about the antihistamine too. I know doctors are a little iffy about allowing a child to have the antihistamine, but she may need more so it could be worth asking about correct dosage. Likewise if her swelling, rash, or fever gets anyworse I'd suggest taking her to the ER. And if it sounds like she's having difficultly breathing I'd suggest taking her to the ER asap! Otherwise make sure she sees the dr first thing in the morning.
Avatar f tn Hello and Welcome to the Forum! Your side effects are pretty normal with treatment. Not so sure about the Electric shock, but the BM's during treatment are normal and the redness at the injection site is normal.I had 12wks treatment and all 12 injections were still there on my 12th week.I rotated all over my stomach to give the shots. What medications are you on for treatment? There are a lot of people on this forum that can answer your Q's.I just reach SVR 27weeks at end of tx.
Avatar f tn No weight gain, tired but I take a strong antihistamine daily (side effect is fatigue) so before the antihistamine I was less tired. The doctor examined my thyroid and I don't have any lumps or abnormaliites. I had a CT scan of the throat about 6 months ago and that was normal. I don't know if the CT went as far as the thyroid but I think so. I am getting retested in 4 months. I did have a viral infection when I had my blood drawn and was thinking it could be that.
Avatar f tn thanks but if i take the treatment for hypothyroidism and antihistameen at the same time ..is it wrong ?
Avatar m tn My belly button itches when/after i work out, I'm sure it's to do with the sweet irritating the skin
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
1722607 tn?1335747858 I wanted to know the names of different medications that might be prescribed during treatment. Names of rescue drugs, anti nausea drugs, or any others that may be given during treatment. I want to look them up thru my insurance to see how much they will cost me if needed. Just trying to budget how much treatment could end up costing.
Avatar m tn thanks for the reply, yes i googled that before messaging and the only one it shows is Seldane, because of the problem with this antihistamine and that it had been taking off the market (not a newer antihistamine), i wanted to know of any other antihistamines? are there no others for enlarged prostate sufferers? 2nd question is after stopping the intake of antihistamine that effect the prostate, woiuld these be a short term effect and the prostate goes back to how it was?
Avatar f tn My GP will not prescribe an antihistamine for him as he is under 1yr, is there anything with similar effects to an antihistamine that he can use?
Avatar f tn You need Benadryl or an antihistamine to reduce the allergic reaction. The chapsticks won't do much. You should feel noticeably better taking the antihistamine. Whatever that cereal was--- no more!
Avatar f tn Natural treatment is complex. What works for one body won't necessarily work for another, and holistic medicine involves the whole body, meaning exercise, meditation, acupuncture, yoga, breathing exercises, diet, herbs, vitamins, minerals, amino acids -- very complex. Now, if you're not on any medications, you can take anything; if you are on medication, you have to be more careful since many natural remedies can intensify medication.
Avatar m tn i think it is an allergy.i was prescribed cetgel one tablet a day as an antihistamine and flupred eyedrops one drop twice a day for one day only.my face still looks out of a horror film with the swelling and the irritation/itching continuing unabated.how many days will this last and what is the best treatment for the swelling and the irritation to subside? This discussion is related to Allergy Problem.
Avatar f tn For such hives, first of all the medication needs to be changed to some other drug. Then the primary treatment is by oral antihistamines. The most potent antihistamine, however, is probably the anti-depressant doxepin. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. Your mother should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing.
Avatar f tn An antihistamine like cetizine 1 at bedtime for a week would be of great help.It may cause some sedation.External application of calamine is fine.
Avatar n tn Take an over-the-counter antihistamine. Sometimes the insects carry bacterial infections so I would feel better if you had it looked at by an in-person M.D.
Avatar n tn I have to assume that this is due to the climate change, but wonder what would be good treatment. I have tried a combination of a good moisturizer mixed with hydrocortisone cream with no luck.
