antihistamine

Avatar f tn Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.

Avatar n tn Topical lotions such as calamine decreases pain and pruritus. Topical anesthetic and antihistamine preparations should be avoided as they can sensitize the skin following sun exposure and induce allergic contact sensitivity. Hence, Systemic antihistamines (injection is preferred) and antipruritics such as hydroxyzine or cetirizine against prescription may be helpful. Even addition of corticosteroids has possible benefits.
Avatar n tn You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Wear lose comfortable clothes. Wash all your linen and towels etc with a disinfectant solution. Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g.
Avatar n tn For about 22years now, I have had this chronic unyielding, head to toe itch with no rash. The only thing that helps is a daily antihistamine. There is no rash or real explanation on what the true trigger is. Doctors think it's in my head. I take a daily allergy pill and have for 22 years.
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
612551 tn?1450022175 like myself who is also a (human) medical technician (nurse) said that he has had success with Benadryl Topical liquid on his dogs. I know the fact that it is safe/recommended for human use is not proof it is safe or effective on dogs. Still I'd like to give it a try. On the ears there is no way he can lick/ingest the stuff, on the feet he may get some ingested and perhaps that is a different issue.
Avatar n tn I have been treated with 5-6 different topical creams, foams, in conjunction with prednisone, zantac, and another med. The itchiness goes away but comes back at least once a month and does not go away for at least a week. My face gets red, blotchy, itchy, hot, it becomes dry at times, and the bumps below my ears. I've been to my dermatologists many times, he has tried many things but it does not provide a permanent relief. I have not had this problem until about 2 years ago.
Avatar m tn I have been on topical steroids for eczema for a long time now and I’m a 21 yr old male. I usually apply them to my face and some on my hands. Every night I do use the steroids, my anus and butt itch like crazy! I have narrowed it down to the steroids! Is this possible (maybe it’s in my bloodstream?). And if it is, what my anus? This is very weird, any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Then the primary treatment is by oral antihistamines. The most potent antihistamine, however, is probably the anti-depressant doxepin. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. Your mother should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a dermatologist as topical and oral steroids may be needed.
Avatar f tn Here's one for the books. My daughter has had a allergic reaction to an oral antihistamine she took for what appeared to be hives just below the right side of her derriere. This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process.
Avatar n tn Also, Eucerin , Restoraderm works well to calm down itching. I use a topical steroid for my legs and hands. You have to get this from your doctor. If you get a topical steroid don't get it in your eyes or face.
Avatar n tn Treatment options include either topical or oral medication. Topical options include permethrin cream, lindane, benzyl benzoate, crotamiton lotion and cream, sulfur, Tea tree oil, oil of the leaves of Lippia multiflora Moldenke, a shrub found growing in West Africa Savannah. Oral options include ivermectin. You could read more about this at the following links - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scabies and http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasites/scabies/factsht_scabies.
Avatar m tn Hello, These white bumps can be due to folliculitis skin, viral rashes like chicken pox or molluscum lesions. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).
Avatar n tn The first thing for you to do is to talk to your pharmacist for OTC topical to help control the itching. Some people recommend an antihistamine like Benadryl. If you start breaking out in other areas, it will be time to see your doctor. It is possible for it to become systemic which will require an oral steroid like prednisone or Mederol (methylprednisolone). Feel better. God bless.
Avatar n tn After my husband showers under hot water he develops a rash on his neck which he treats with Vaseline moisturizer (he's doesn't really care about what he puts on as long as some kind of lotion is on it- typical guy) . I've noticed it stays dry, red and flaky. Any suggestions on any topical cream he can use? I'd appreciate some help! Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hello, FDE or fixed drug eruption may fade slowly and so may take a long time to go away.Although they resolve spontaneously but a oral antihistamine (eg, hydroxyzine) and a topical corticosteroid may be needed. Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have additional queries. Kind regards.
Avatar n tn I had the same thing happen when I got allergy testing and I was hypersensitive (not allergic) to mold. I used a topical steroid and the swelling went down after about 4 days. The immune system effect where your immunity goes down is more likely with a steroid injection not a topical. Although, a topical can get into your system a little it isn't the same as a steroid shot.
Avatar f tn It is very common to be itchy while using any opiates. Any antihistamine should help you and if you have specific areas, a over the counter topical cream (hydrocortisone) will help too.
