Avatar f tn Its safe to take claritin or Allegra. I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I have been on Zoloft for anxiety for years. I weaned off about 8 months before I was getting married because I knew we were going to start trying to conceive right away. I only lasted off for a couple of months. My ob assured me that the baby would be OK and it would be better than being stressed and anxious everyday. I am now 14 weeks pregnant and everything is going great. I am able to really enjoy this pregnancy and I'm thankful for that.

666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn DSM-IV does not classify medications. Coricidin is an antihistamine, not a mental health medication.
Avatar f tn now is 5 weeks pregnant again and everything is looking good. I have been TTC for two years and am wondering if I should try it. Is it safe? I actually took Mucinex for sinus congestion for two days & today I have the egg white, stretchy, CM. That is what made me think of my friends situation. Any ideas?

Avatar f tn I'm 33 and prego for the 1st time. I'm 5 weeks along and so terrified of doing something wrong. I suffer from migraines several times a month, and normally take Excedrin Migraine daily. (Although stopped this week when I found out I was pregnant.) My hubby thinks I'm going over the edge because I refuse to drink the diet ginger ale we just stocked up on, but at least understands the no lunch meat thing.
Avatar f tn my doctor said that clairitin and zyrtec are ok, but not allegra.

Avatar n tn Of the currently available preparations, chlorpheniramine has been recommended as the first generation antihistamine of choice for use during pregnancy. Based on the information available, loratadine or cetirizine may be considered the second generation antihistamines of choice. Pseudoephedrine is a nasal decongestant which can be used for allergic rhinitis. Glucorticoids when used locally is also safe in pregnancy. You need to consult gynecologist before starting above drugs.
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!

Avatar f tn Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
612551 tn?1450022175 Thanks, I had seen some where making use of Benadryl antihistamine oral for dogs... making some adjustment for weight. Thus a 20 pound Westie would be a small fraction of a pill. I just now wonder too if the antihistamine oral might also be of some help with the skin.... I'll stick to one experiment at at time, otherwise the results can't be mapped to one action. I may try Gold Bond, that too had come to mind, in fact I tried a little a few weeks back and decided not to continue.
Avatar f tn I do have a Nasonex Spray but the doctor said i could use it but only if it was absolutely nessecary ie, the pain causing me to get stressed as that obviously isnt going to do me or the foetus any good. I left the surgery still unsure as to whether to use the spray. Do you know if a humidifier would maybe help with the irritation.
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar f tn ) is also supposed to be fine but I find it is not as effective for me. I wonder which ingredient in DayQuil helps for allergies - perhaps the decongestant? Since it is a cold symptom reliever, not an antihistamine, if it is the decongestant helping, you might want to call your doctor's office and ask about decongestants/expectorants that are safe. Also, the best suggestion I received during my last pregnancy when it came to congestion was to get a humidifier.
557911 tn?1225980644 The blood work was negative for pregnancy but it was early so I still could be pregnant. She called in a prescription for the yeast infection and it is only one pill. Can I assume it is safe to take the pill? I am afraid she is assuming I'm not pregnant so may not have worried about it, and she isnt the smartest doctor to be honest. I have an appointment with a new doc Monday, should I wait and check with them or just wait for the results from that appointment to come back next week?
Avatar f tn If it is PUPPPs it either goes away after delivery or simply on its own. But your doctor can prescribe you with a safe antihistamine to help with scratching. I recommend witch hazel throughout the day, Cortisone 10 after drying off from a shower, and coconut oil in the shower as a body wash. Baths don't help it, this is something that needs to be dried out.
