not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
We just adopted Penny last week. Our vet says she may have allergies and put her on benadryl 25 mg (she weighs 16 lbs) twice a day until he rechecks her on 1/7.
The rescue organization wrote me and said benadryl was not safe; to use zyrtec (which I do on my male that I've had almost 10 years). Is benadryl safe for approximately 1 month's use?

I'm 33 and prego for the 1st time. I'm 5 weeks along and so terrified of doing something wrong. I suffer from migraines several times a month, and normally take Excedrin Migraine daily. (Although stopped this week when I found out I was pregnant.) My hubby thinks I'm going over the edge because I refuse to drink the diet ginger ale we just stocked up on, but at least understands the no lunch meat thing.

Of the currently available preparations, chlorpheniramine has been recommended as the first generation antihistamine of choice for use during pregnancy. Based on the information available, loratadine or cetirizine may be considered the second generation antihistamines of choice. Pseudoephedrine is a nasal decongestant which can be used for allergic rhinitis. Glucorticoids when used locally is also safe in pregnancy. You need to consult gynecologist before starting above drugs.
I do have a Nasonex Spray but the doctor said i could use it but only if it was absolutely nessecary ie, the pain causing me to get stressed as that obviously isnt going to do me or the foetus any good.
I left the surgery still unsure as to whether to use the spray.
Do you know if a humidifier would maybe help with the irritation.
Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
If it is PUPPPs it either goes away after delivery or simply on its own. But your doctor can prescribe you with a safe antihistamine to help with scratching. I recommend witch hazel throughout the day, Cortisone 10 after drying off from a shower, and coconut oil in the shower as a body wash. Baths don't help it, this is something that needs to be dried out.
I seriously miss being able to breathe! Anyone know of a SAFE and effective allergy/sinus OTC medicine I can take???

If you see a doctor ask them about pregnancy safe anxiety medicine. I was taking kolonipin for years and prior to becoming pregnant I weaned myself off to have a healthy pregnancy (with my doctor's ok). Only when I absolutely needed it I would only take about 1/4 of a pill and that was after if Valerian Root or Benedryl didn't work. My doctor put me on Buspirone which is a pregnancy safe anti anxiety pill. I still only take it as needed. Best of luck. Yoga and meditation help too.
My wife has atopic dermititus and takes benedril every day to help with her skin is it ok for her to take while prego and taking it through out the whole pregnancy will it effect the babie or birth presedures

im 32 weeks pregnant but really struggling to sleep my doctor put me on promethazine hcl 10mg but i didnt get any information on them and i was just woundering if any body knows if there safe to take when pregnant aa im not really sure and this is my first pregnancy any info would be great thank you :) x
First you need to stay on antihistamine until it is gone. Benadryl is great stuff. You should see a GP or allergist doctor. You definitely had a reaction to that sting and are still having it. Sounds like the ER ruled out anaphylaxis but you did have Benadryl in you so that I'm not sure about the results. Just stay on antihistamine on schedule to prevent something worst.
now is 5 weeks pregnant again and everything is looking good. I have been TTC for two years and am wondering if I should try it. Is it safe? I actually took Mucinex for sinus congestion for two days & today I have the egg white, stretchy, CM. That is what made me think of my friends situation. Any ideas?
