Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine medications that start with a z

antihistamine

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with step and put on a z-pack. My throat is swollen and sore, I can barely swallow. I have also noticed a large pus pocket right next to my uvula. It's been 3 days and I haven't gotten better at all. Is there anything else a doctor can give me to try and get the pus pocket and sore throat to go away?
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar f tn I've a chronic allergy with the stuffy nose, difficulty in swallowing which thanks to god is getting better. But well these days I started to feel soreness in my throat that becomes less sorely when I drink warm tea with honey, or gargle with salt and water. I've searched in Google and all the answers suggest one thing "Throat Cancer". I want to go and visit the doctor and do some check ups but I'm really afraid that it turns out to be cancer.
Avatar n tn all i have is my nose that gets blocked so often that i have to breathe with mouth and also have a permanent sore throat. currently in indiana. If someone can give me professional advice or recommend a specialist it would be appreciated!!! As i think my condition keeps getting worse. also i smoke but the doctor tell me it has no relation to my allergies!(i'm quitting) and when i stop smoking it gets a looot worse as i have much more mucus coming. (seen doctors in both india and US) .
Avatar f tn Keep track of all the medications that seem to cause the hives, and maybe even experiment with whether different generics of the same medication have the same side effects (for example one generic atarax is green and another white, which might make a difference if you are allergic to that particular coloring agent). You may even have to have an allergist help you figure out what exactly it is that you are allergic to.
960785 tn?1248645096 Approximately 5 years ago, during a time of exreme stress I broke out in hives on my legs ( that is what the doc dianosed it as, I thought they were bug bites). When I finally got a physician to pay attention to it he sent me to a dermatolgist. He said that I had gotten to far into the scatch-itch cycle, prescribed meds that over came the problem 2-3 mos. Now these hives have returned Do I need tranquilizers?
Avatar f tn I'm 33 and prego for the 1st time. I'm 5 weeks along and so terrified of doing something wrong. I suffer from migraines several times a month, and normally take Excedrin Migraine daily. (Although stopped this week when I found out I was pregnant.) My hubby thinks I'm going over the edge because I refuse to drink the diet ginger ale we just stocked up on, but at least understands the no lunch meat thing.
Avatar n tn You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).
Avatar f tn So its Eczema? I keep good hygiene, i shower everyday and use a lotion for sensistive skin everyday. my skin is not dry, and this rash thing is only in one spot and i never had this before. well i just e-mailed my mom and she says i dont have Eczema. she says its really ugly and you get scabs and normally is not in one spot. so i would beleive her because she has a friend that has Eczema and it doesn't look like what i have.
Avatar f tn With your anxiety, have you ever thought of seeking help through talk therapy if you have access to it? Quite often a little knowledge about this can go a long way in dealing with it in my opinion...keep us posted!
Avatar n tn I think the anxiety could have been due to health anxiety related to a spinal headache or a reaction to a z-pack, which I had never used before. On my second visit to the ER, they prescribed 50 mg of metoprolol tartrate twice per day. Now my doctor wants me to take an SSRI to help the anxiety. I tried 50 mg of Zoloft but had severe nausea and anxiety the first day and stopped it. Now my doctor has prescribed 10 mg.
Avatar f tn I get them most often on my hands and feet, but also a lot on my arms, legs, and face. I get a couple every day. a lot of times they are on my fingers, on the section closest to my hand. They are on the areas least likely for them to be hives. The best description is that they look like big nasty mosquito bites. I have been getting them for atleast 6 months. what could they be?
Avatar m tn yes, allergies can definitely trigger headaches - I suffer from Migraines and if my sinuses or allergies start acting up it will trigger them

Avatar n tn Please only take medications as directed by your Physician. If he/she told you to take Cipro than that is what you should do. Your best and most accurate sourse for medication questions will come from your Pharmacist. They are the true experts... and their advice is free!
Avatar m tn If it is mild and can be easily managed, going to the gym may be continued but with antihistamine medications. However, if the symptoms persist, you may need to stop it all together. I really recommend that you try to identify the possible triggers so that you could avoid them and see your attending for proper assessment. Best regards.

Avatar f tn Hey, ess! Thanks for thinking of me. I went for my C-spine MRI yesterday (3T, of course, dahling. The only way to go!), but they had to reschedule my evoked potentials. Dagnabbit! They overbooked. I'm so eager to get that done. As to how I'm feeling...it's the day after my day off, so I'm pooped, as always. I'm usually a zombie on Wednesdays and Sundays, after doing too much on my "days off!" But, don't listen to me complain!
