Avatar f tn There are many other name brands for that class of medicine. Astepro is a nasal spray antihistamine. It stops the sinus cells from reacting to allergens. There are only two meds in this category. Astepro and Patanase. There is an older version of Astepro called Astelin which may stil be available to you, but the company is working to phase it out. Also a prescription strength antihistamine like Allegra might be a good idea. Feel better and hang in there.
1399363 tn?1462342610 Antihistamines are a known trigger for people prone to supraventricular tachycardia. All my life, I was unable to take allergy drugs because of this reason. I would check with your physician, and pharmacist because I think there now may be compounds available with give the desired effect without the side effects. You could also address the tachycardia issue and eliminate that which would allow you to take any antihistamines with experiencing the side effects.
Avatar f tn I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives.

Just because they are natural does not mean they can be safe with other interactions with other drugs, no matter how harmless. Second, when you have a stress induced or as with me, stresses induced a manic depression, the naturals, no matter how great during the regular times is completely ineffective but for the sleeping, on controling the disorders problem.

Avatar f tn Hi, your symptoms are suggestive of rhinosinusitis (ARS) which is a symptomatic inflammation of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. Allergy is a strong possibility. There may be a viral infection associated with the allergy. Firstly you need to undergo thorough physical examination; the blind swab or Endoscopic or sinus aspirate can be cultured to rule out secondary bacterial infection. Plain sinus films and sinus CT may show sinus fluid levels if present.
Avatar f tn You can usually take Tylenol based products, but I would definitely check with your doctor first (they usually provide a list of approved medicines). You want to be careful during your first trimester with taking medicines though, so if possible, see if you can do without. If not, have your doctor make a recommendation.
