Itchy skin without rash can be due to psoriasis, dermatitis, lice, scabies and hives, internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps, cosmetics and certain foods .
You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing.
It is also a good idea to get a good antihistamine for the itching.

Treatments and drugs
Scabies treatment involves eliminating the infestation with medications. Several creams and lotions are available. To test, if it is an allergy, you can try an antihistamine pill Benadryl - itching should stop shortly after that.
To find out, if it is some food that causes allergy, you can ask a dietitian to give you a diet plan, starting with complete fasting. If it is food, itching should go away in few days...

that went away with a steroid cream and after a doc thought it might be scabies, but treated for excema. Ive been itching worse ever since and my husband is itching too. SIX docs have looked at me and said nope its not scabies don't worry. I have been experiencing an itching problem since last few months. It seems that my itching is worst at night and after showers which i read is consistant with scabies; however, my girlfriend does not have any symptoms, nor my room mate. even then we dont share towels or cloths and no one but my girl frind has had prolonged contact with my skin, so if she doesn't have it how else could i get it?

Ive had itching skin all over for a few months now. I get intense itching and when i scratch small bumps show up. I scratch until i break the skin and causes scabbing. my boyfriend has the same itching but his is always present in small red dots all over his body. Ive been to two differnt doctors and they dont know what it is. One doctor gave me cream to treat scabies but they said that it is presented strangly if that is what is it. the lotion didnt seem to help at all.
For over a year and a half I have had a non-specific red popular rash on my legs,stomach,arms which extremely intense itching. I was treated at first for scabies however the treatment didn't work and the rash/itching persisted. I was prescribed Telfast antihistamine with Cimetidine but no improvement. Blood tests showed positive ANA, Positve Anti-SSA/RO . CRP was 4 and Rh factor was 20. I was reffered to rheumatology clinic and was prescribed Plaquinil and am taking 1 twice daily.

I have a really bad body itching, I can't even sleep at night because of this. It started 40 days ago and I joined the Gym, and I am not if this is the reason or just a coincidence, however, the doctor put me on an antibiotic course for 5 days thinking that it could be due to sweating and the skin pores could be blocked forming a typr of infalamtion/bacteria. This did not work and the itch gt worse, then the doctor put on panafcortelone 25mg 2 tabletsa day for 3 days then 1.
A couple weeks ago i got a tiny rash on my wrists and they started iching and moved to my forearms. Then I noticed the bumps on under my leg where the joint is. I used an antihistamine creams to sooth the itch and the rash eventually went away. Then yesterday, the rash came back. It's itchier and only on my forearms. I'm a 30 year old woman with nearly constant mild to moderate itching with several spurts a day of severe itching that keeps me from sleeping or focusing. It began three years ago during my 20th week of pregnancy and never left. I have tested negative for all allergens. I've had a kenalog shot, attarax, benzodiazepenes. I've used lidocaine, menthol, etc type lotions (and three or four prescription ones). Nothing helps. I don't have dry skin.
