Antihistamine for eyes

Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine for eyes

Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar n tn 1) stop using opcon-a. stop cold turkey. you will likely have red eyes for a week to 10 days or so while your eye "recovers". 2) go back to your eye doctor, or another one, and ask for an Rx-only antihistamine/mast cell stabilizer like ZADITOR, OPTIVAR, or PATANOL. those are my favorites in that order. 3) get refit in DAILY disposable contact lenses if they come in your rx.
Avatar f tn My eye started sweeling this morning - the clear top was filling with liquid it looked like - i went to the store and got visine with antihistamine and put a bunch in now my eye has reduced swelling but now my pupil is huge in that eye and normal in the other eye???
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Opatanol to reduce some swelling in my eyes (red veins appearing). Before I have had staph infections treated with an antibiotic. However, recent cultures have revealed just one staph epidermis. I have always had problems with some crusts appearing on eyelashes ( I suppose it is a mild case of blephartitis). I just wonder if this swelling is due to irritants or staph or blephartitis. I also have a mass of intolerable floaters in my eyes.
Avatar n tn I find using contact saline solution as an eye wash and an antihistamine eye drop are very helpful. I like Zaditor for my eye drop and use an antique eye wash cup to wash my eyes twice daily. I hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Also, the antihistamine diphenhydramine hydrochloride (Benadryl) may help to relieve itchy eyes. If treated properly, the prognosis for conjunctivitis is good. Conjunctivitis caused by an allergic reaction should clear up once the allergen is removed. However, allergic conjunctivitis will likely recur if the individual again comes into contact with the particular allergen. ref: http://en.wikipedia.
17644146 tn?1458786468 I would say they should know. Does anyone know if these eyes drops contain antihistamine? Thank you for any help.
Avatar f tn I acccidentally slept in my extended-wear contacts and, during the night, had some allergy issues. Not realizing my contacts were in my eyes, I used antihistamine eye drops. This morning, one of my contact lenses is not on my iris--it feels like it's stuck way back under my eyelid, but I cannot dislodge it or see any evidence that it is still in my eye. Is it possible that the antihistamine drops dissolved or ate the contact?
Avatar f tn Singulair does not, however, because it lack antihistamine. But my allergist want me on an antihistamine. Any thoughts on this?
Avatar n tn What is the best antihistamine for allergic eyes? I am experiencing worse eye allergy than sinus allergy this Spring, and I think it is due to tree pollen in this area of Texas. I have found chlorphenaramine maleate and benadryl do not help.
Avatar n tn hi, i am 44years old female.wearing eye glasses forfar distance for more than 20 years.since last summer i have bouts of severe itching in both eyes especially the inner side and more in the morning.together with this my vision is deteriorating.i visited many prescribed cortisone ointment which helpedme a lot .but he told me not to use it for long.i still use artificial tears and antihistamine with little vision power was 0.5 less in lt eye,and 0.25 less in the rt eye.
Avatar f tn If your dry eyes is due to the use of antihistimines it will go away if you stop these medicatios. However for most people, especially menopausal or post menopausal women it is permanent.
Avatar n tn I would suggest you see your doctor for a correct diagnosis and for him to prescribe the appropriate medication for you. In the meantime do not use any make ups or eye make up. Wash the area gently, do not use soap as this aggravates skin conditions and is drying. If you can't get to see your doctor soon, the pharmacist may be able to recommend an antihistamine and a suitable moisturiser to use that is safe near the eyes. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn by jackmed, less than a minute I experience swollen eyelids every now and then but have been unable to pinpoint it to any kind of food or medication. It usually starts off like the size of a pea somewhere on my eyelid, doesn't hurt but is uncomfortable for my eyelid crease when my eye is open. If i worry about it, the swelling increases and takes over my entire eyelid. I take phenergan which knocks me out and sleep it off or another antihistamine.

800851 tn?1260346702 I do have elevated bilirubin (last was 1.3 and has been as high as 2.4) and my eyes appear to be discolored for several months now. The problem is, I cannot tell if they are discolored with red or a darkish-yellowish. A lot of the pictures of jaundiced eyes on google look reddish too. If any of you have had experience with jaundiced eyes, your reply and detailed description of what it look like will be invaluable to me. I am too nervous to go to the doctor and have them check it out.
535882 tn?1396580285 , taking an antihistamine, plus eye drops. allergy, eye drops, plus doing saline nose rinse. ice pack, eyes also itch a little. any suggestion?
Avatar m tn I have asthma which is controlled by a single dose of Advair 50/250 every day. Recently (last 12 weeks) one of my eyes would swell up for no apparent reason. Nothing environmentally has changed in my household or life but I definitely started to have a major reaction to something. I can feel it coming on, it feels like a really itchy hive on your arm or leg, but it happens to be in the corner of my eye, above my eye lid, or below my eye lid and it happens on both sides.
Avatar f tn The past year I have been experiencing dry and peeling skin under my eyes. I've been using Eucerin calming cream on it and that seems to keep it under control. But if I stop for a few days, it comes back. It actually started on my eyelids last summer, but now is underneath my eyes more than above. I use Dermitage Skin Renewal and Lifting Cream, and sometimes Lift SP for wrinkles. But, the dryness started months before I started using those.
Avatar m tn Hi,i am 23 year old male . 1 year ago i started to scratch the skin under my eyes frequently as bad habbit due to which rashes under my both eyes developed, they were dry and flaky with little bit itching . Then i started using NERISONE ointment without doctor`s precription. After frequent use Rashes disappered ;at first i thought they were cured so i stopped using the above mentioned ointment but after 3-4 days they reappeared which really worried me.
Avatar f tn At first i just thought it was dust etc but over the last few weeks the condition has got worse. Every morning when i wake up my eyes are really puffy, eyelids appear swollen, they feel sore and slightly bloodshot. This carries on throughout the day but slightly improves throughout the day, but then worsens again towards the end of the day. They are itchy a lot too.
Avatar n tn You told me of the alidel, that is topical, right? try the Atarax, it is an antihistamine, it is also used for tx of anxiety and tension and as a sedative. unbelievable. I would check interactions with the mental health meds, tho.
Avatar f tn For the past three nights, I am awaken in the middle of the night with very watery eyes, deep coughing, white foamy spit, some clogged sinus and post nasal drainage. After sitting up for half an hour, the watery eyes, coughing and spit disappear. What could be causing this?
Avatar m tn My eyes at times get very dry and itchy, as well as sometimes feel like there's pressure behind them. My nasal membranes also dry up at times. These symptoms seem the worst during changes of season, so I've always assumed that its allergies. That said, most people that I know who have allergies complain more about runny noses, sneezing, etc., which doesn't seem to happen much with me. So, can someone confirm that this is indeed allergies and not something else?
Avatar n tn Lately I have been getting dry skin, especially around my eyes. It's become inflammed and red underneath my eyebrows, and around to the outsides of my eyes. Whenever I put moisturizer on it, all it does is burn. I've tried multiple moisturizers, and nothing is working. I recently bought new acne medication, do you think I could be allergic to it? Or is it just because I need to drink more water or something like that?
Avatar f tn Im 22 years old and made the mistake of overusing visine antihistamine eye drops for about a month friend gave them to me and I used them for irritation from my contact lenses. Now my eyes dont seem to produce barely any tears. Its been about 5 months and they still feel the same. I thought they would return to normal by now. Ive gone to a bunch of optometrists that keep prescribing me artificial tears that just make my eyes more red and inflamed.
Avatar n tn It's definitely a long shot, but ocular aniseikonia (a disparity in image size between your eyes) can cause watery eyes. Is the prescription for your glasses very different for each eye?
Avatar n tn I have been having problems with my eyes swelling up and the lids get very dry. My lips are also getting very chapped for about three months now. At first the doctor told me my allergies were pretty bad and prescribed Zyrtec and Protopic to be applied around the eye area. I have been taking the medication but have noticed that everytime I feel a stressful situation coming on my eyes start to itch and pretty soon they are very swollen both on the lids and under my eyes.
Avatar f tn It is possible that you have dry eyes or allergies. The treatments for this eye condition include Saline Eye Drops and Antihistamine. Or you may also apply a cold compress in closed eyes. Always remind yourself to never rub your eyes, because it will worsen the condition.
