Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine for red eyes

antihistamine

Avatar n tn s become inflammed and red underneath my eyebrows, and around to the outsides of my eyes. Whenever I put moisturizer on it, all it does is burn. I've tried multiple moisturizers, and nothing is working. I recently bought new acne medication, do you think I could be allergic to it? Or is it just because I need to drink more water or something like that?
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar n tn I would suggest you see your doctor for a correct diagnosis and for him to prescribe the appropriate medication for you. In the meantime do not use any make ups or eye make up. Wash the area gently, do not use soap as this aggravates skin conditions and is drying. If you can't get to see your doctor soon, the pharmacist may be able to recommend an antihistamine and a suitable moisturiser to use that is safe near the eyes. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Opatanol to reduce some swelling in my eyes (red veins appearing). Before I have had staph infections treated with an antibiotic. However, recent cultures have revealed just one staph epidermis. I have always had problems with some crusts appearing on eyelashes ( I suppose it is a mild case of blephartitis). I just wonder if this swelling is due to irritants or staph or blephartitis. I also have a mass of intolerable floaters in my eyes.
Avatar n tn What is the best antihistamine for allergic eyes? I am experiencing worse eye allergy than sinus allergy this Spring, and I think it is due to tree pollen in this area of Texas. I have found chlorphenaramine maleate and benadryl do not help.
Avatar n tn Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine (reduces inflammation, helps with drippy nose and eyes from allergies, etc) Coricidin is an over the counter OTC drug. The DSM-IV is system for measuring the risk of substance abuse or for assessing mental disorders. You may be thinking of classification of narcotics? or pregnancy drug classification? OTC drugs are not classified.
Avatar m tn You could just have chronic allergies and need to take patenol longer and use oral antihistamine as well. Dry eyes could be involved. Oral flax and fish oil may help. Maybe you didn't take the doxy long enough - perhaps minocycline very low dose with food might be easier on you. Sterilid or Ocusoft Plus lid cleanser pads might help for certain cases. I expect culture to be negative because you have been on antibiotics and often these cases are not bacteria related. Michael J.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing recurring red, itchy (bumps below my ears). I have been treated with 5-6 different topical creams, foams, in conjunction with prednisone, zantac, and another med. The itchiness goes away but comes back at least once a month and does not go away for at least a week. My face gets red, blotchy, itchy, hot, it becomes dry at times, and the bumps below my ears.
Avatar f tn i saw my gp and was told they look a little red and to try some fucithalmic drops in his eyes...this made him worse, he screamed for an hour after having the drops and he was in pain. i have stopped giving him the drops and i am going back on friday to see the gp, just wondering if anyone has come across this.. his eyesight is fantastic, its just the sensitivity thats the problem, some artifical light he cant stand either, like the bathroom light..he has to have a bath in the dark..
Avatar f tn It's possible that you may just be having allergies. Do you have a stuffy/runny nose also? I get watery, crusty eyes from allergies also. Sometimes with runny nose, but sometimes it's just my eyes. Try taking an antihistamine, or maybe some eye drops made for allergies and see if it makes a difference.

Avatar m tn So, a little over a week ago I began having hive outbreaks. The first one was a minor one on my forehead that went away quickly. The next was on Sunday and was a major outbreak, all over my body. Steroids and antihistamine cleared it up however, but I had another small outbreak on Wednesday. I took more medicine and was fine. Friday I had a few hives on my legs and feet but it never spread until that evening. Once again medicine cleared it up.
Avatar f tn I first had the reaction at the end of my honors year in the same lab when i noticed slight soreness and redness in both eyes and within 1 hour of these symptoms it progressed to severe swelling, very red, bloodshot eyes, and intense pain, and being firstly unable to close my eyes then progressing to being unable to open them and being very sensitive to light.

Avatar f tn If your dry eyes is due to the use of antihistimines it will go away if you stop these medicatios. However for most people, especially menopausal or post menopausal women it is permanent.
Avatar f tn If the main culprit of the red is due to dry eyes and it’s been somewhat chronic, is it possible for the red to go down? Or only possible to help prevent it from getting worse?

Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar n tn A simple antihistamine medication across the counter and not wearing contact lenses for a while will soon test this theory.
Avatar n tn Hi forum members, Since few weeks I am noticing that I am having some sort of white discharge from my eyes (both) and some time times it is not only irritating but also has some burning feeling. It also leads to headaches often. I had shown it to one doctor who thought it was some sort of allergy, but this is lasting too long. Can any one advice please?
