antihistamine

Avatar n tn What is the best antihistamine for allergic eyes? I am experiencing worse eye allergy than sinus allergy this Spring, and I think it is due to tree pollen in this area of Texas. I have found chlorphenaramine maleate and benadryl do not help.
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar n tn Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine (reduces inflammation, helps with drippy nose and eyes from allergies, etc) Coricidin is an over the counter OTC drug. The DSM-IV is system for measuring the risk of substance abuse or for assessing mental disorders. You may be thinking of classification of narcotics? or pregnancy drug classification? OTC drugs are not classified.
Avatar n tn I would suggest you see your doctor for a correct diagnosis and for him to prescribe the appropriate medication for you. In the meantime do not use any make ups or eye make up. Wash the area gently, do not use soap as this aggravates skin conditions and is drying. If you can't get to see your doctor soon, the pharmacist may be able to recommend an antihistamine and a suitable moisturiser to use that is safe near the eyes. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn Yesterday, I asked: Can antihihistamine Eye Drops, enter your system through your eyes? While the question seems somewhat idiotic, I am highly allergic to antihistamines. They knock me out for extended periods of time, by making me lethargic, and extremely drowsy and sluggish. I used an antihistamine eye drop yesterday, and, shortly, had all the above symptoms. My question is simply, can one's system absorb antihistamines through the use of antihistamine eye drops?

Avatar f tn If your dry eyes is due to the use of antihistimines it will go away if you stop these medicatios. However for most people, especially menopausal or post menopausal women it is permanent.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn Hi forum members, Since few weeks I am noticing that I am having some sort of white discharge from my eyes (both) and some time times it is not only irritating but also has some burning feeling. It also leads to headaches often. I had shown it to one doctor who thought it was some sort of allergy, but this is lasting too long. Can any one advice please?
Avatar m tn what are the best antihistamines (dust allergy) for somone with an enlarged prostate?
Avatar n tn Lately I have been getting dry skin, especially around my eyes. It's become inflammed and red underneath my eyebrows, and around to the outsides of my eyes. Whenever I put moisturizer on it, all it does is burn. I've tried multiple moisturizers, and nothing is working. I recently bought new acne medication, do you think I could be allergic to it? Or is it just because I need to drink more water or something like that?
Avatar m tn Basically its the decongestants that can worsen dry eyes and blood pressure and the antihistamines that will worsen dry eyes. You may be able to use a once a day antihistamine like claritin or zyrtec which have fewer systemic side effects. Also guifenasin (robitussin or mucinex)which loosens the secrections in throat and chest can be helpful with colds without affecting dry eyes so much.
Avatar f tn What could this be a sign of? Is it normal for my eyes to get puffy from allergies? Please give me some ideas for narrowing down the cause.
Avatar m tn Hi, How are you? Allergic rhinitis is a collection of symptoms, mostly in the nose and eyes, which occur when you breathe in something you are allergic to. This may present with itchy nose, sneezing , runny nose, tearing eyes, nasal congestion, and even headache. Have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. Your medical history and physical examination will help. It is important that you avoid what causes these symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have recently returned to the lab approx a month ago and have had the same reaction again (hence the assumption that the allergy is to something in the lab) and took the same antihistamine and used over the counter antihistamine drops which had no effect. I have been prescribed fluorometholone eyedrops and tobramycin ointment which have cleared up the allergy. I am now faced with trying to figure out what I could be allergic to? and what can I do to manage this so that I can finish my work?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Opatanol to reduce some swelling in my eyes (red veins appearing). Before I have had staph infections treated with an antibiotic. However, recent cultures have revealed just one staph epidermis. I have always had problems with some crusts appearing on eyelashes ( I suppose it is a mild case of blephartitis). I just wonder if this swelling is due to irritants or staph or blephartitis. I also have a mass of intolerable floaters in my eyes.
Avatar n tn Your Vet will have the best choices for congestion relief.....You don't state how old your pug is, but the excess fluids can related to many other diseases/ailments.....For example: If you use an antihistamine thinking it's an allergy when indeed it's really a heart problem, the antihistamine can make the heart worse, so you must get a diagnoses before you treat..... Licking air is usually Nausea or acid reflux....Post nasal drip normally causes a cough...
Avatar m tn My eyes at times get very dry and itchy, as well as sometimes feel like there's pressure behind them. My nasal membranes also dry up at times. These symptoms seem the worst during changes of season, so I've always assumed that its allergies. That said, most people that I know who have allergies complain more about runny noses, sneezing, etc., which doesn't seem to happen much with me. So, can someone confirm that this is indeed allergies and not something else?
Avatar m tn So, a little over a week ago I began having hive outbreaks. The first one was a minor one on my forehead that went away quickly. The next was on Sunday and was a major outbreak, all over my body. Steroids and antihistamine cleared it up however, but I had another small outbreak on Wednesday. I took more medicine and was fine. Friday I had a few hives on my legs and feet but it never spread until that evening. Once again medicine cleared it up.
