antihistamine

Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar n tn e., with antihistamine chlorpheniramine 4 mg, decongestant phenylephrine 12.5 mg, and cough suppressant dextromethorphan 15 mg, each per 5 mL), then the guideline dose for a 4-year-old is one-quarter teaspoon (the one-half teaspoon dose is for age 6-11 years, while the full teaspoon dose is for ages 12 years and up).
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn com will take you to all of the available antihistamine info. That same site also says that these antihistamine sleep aids are not for people with glaucoma or kidney disease.
Avatar n tn The dosage amount is based on your body composition, height, weight, etc., so 1800mg (while it is an exceedingly high dosage) could possibly be a normal dosage size for someone large in stature. I was under the idea that it was common knowledge that overdosing on any drug can be fatal, but I guess you didn't know.
1965789 tn?1325556251 It may be worth asking about the antihistamine too. I know doctors are a little iffy about allowing a child to have the antihistamine, but she may need more so it could be worth asking about correct dosage. Likewise if her swelling, rash, or fever gets anyworse I'd suggest taking her to the ER. And if it sounds like she's having difficultly breathing I'd suggest taking her to the ER asap! Otherwise make sure she sees the dr first thing in the morning.
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
1474611 tn?1416632958 Another thing to consider is making sure the dosage was correct. Often they are weight dosed, even for cats, which also are kitten vs. adult cat dosed. If the dosage was too much, that could have caused irritation. Lastly, if the medication was a "cheap" product like Hertz and similar...these products often have other ingredients that tend to be irritants. Also, they often aren't that effective (from what I've seen from clients who have tried them).
Avatar m tn 5 In Manns, et al., a regression analysis of sustained virologic response rate and ribavirin dosage shows a clear direct relationship between SVR and dose with a definitive cutoff at a critical dose of 10.6 mg/kg.1 This has led to the argument that adherence to ribavirin dosage improves sustained virologic response rate, although this remains an unproven point to date.6 http://www.hcvadvocate.org/hcsp/articles/Pockros-2.
Avatar f tn The reason Tylenol PM helps you sleep at night is due to the Diphenhydramine which is a sedating antihistamine that is used in many OTC night time formulations. Diphenhydramine can cause side effects such as excessive daytime sedation, dry mouth, and urinary retention and thus its use long term as a sleep aid may not be preferred, but it is not addictive.
850029 tn?1238857820 i use 2 types of antihistamine for hayfever, i use them on alternative years - i find if i use the same one for 2 summers it does not work for the for the 3rd summer - but by alternating them i am fine.
1313343 tn?1274833215 The dizziness you are experiencing is probably due to the action of the sedating antihistamine (doxylamine probably). However, if it persists (either the pain or the dizziness) it might be best to go get it checked out by a doctor.
Avatar n tn 7) The only symptom I have at the moment is itchiness especially on the scalp but also a bit on the rest of the body.
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar m tn When you see the doctor, get him or her to tell you how large a dose of antihistamine you should take for a reaction like this. If you can get the antihistamine into your system quickly enough, then that ought to greatly reduce the chances of your ever needing to use the epi pen. I would take the antihistamine as soon as any hint of a systemic reaction started.
Avatar f tn If it comes to it I will get him the other things she suggested (an antihistamine sp? to dry the snot and something else for his eye) but it seems that she will just keep suggesting things and 3 new payments down the way I don't want her to be like "oh well its not even pink eye!" Help!
Avatar m tn If the medications do not work, it is best that you inform her doctor for proper management. A change in medication or dosage may be indicated. With children, it is indeed difficult to avoid scratching but this can lead to secondary bacterial infection also. An over-the-counter antihistamine may also help provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.
324184 tn?1308076203 Maybe its from upping the dosage? I am hoping its something my body will get us to ifit is indeed b/c of the zoloft... Please let me know if you have any suggestions!!
Avatar n tn The worse part of it was, I could no longer take any kind of antihistamine, as it made the hives worse. Same with advil, tylenol and aspirin. The hives were also worse with anything tight on my skin and during long drives, they appeared on my hands. I learned to live with them as nothing seemed to help. Two years ago, during an annual physical, my physician tested my thyroid. Apparently at my age, it's a test they do. I had been tired but throught it was stress.
Avatar n tn 5mg) This is my trimix dosage. I am told from other forums this is extremely high and should keep me hard for at least 2 hrs. I am suppose to go to 100 units but usually just go to 30-40 units. Still only keeps semi hard for 30 minutes or so and then another hour just fat but flacid. Not sure why such a strong dose does not work.
Avatar f tn Hi Cici888, I just finished reading your comments. My suggestion is to go to your family doctor immediately. You say you also have asthma. So do I. This is something you need to take care of immediately. Also, you shouldn't just put yourself on Zyrtec. You should be seen by your doctor. Tell your doctor what symptoms you are having, for example, sneezing, runny rose and coughing. You say, " how can I do the skin prick test?" You can't do it yourself.
Avatar f tn Hydroxyzine or "Atarax" is a antihistamine, and it seems like thats the first thing that doctors like to try a person out on. It doesnt work that good for Extreme anxiety, but have "heard" that it works alright..."not great" for mild anxiety. Its allot safer then Benzos "Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, Ativan" and non addicting. Hiope it works for you.
Avatar f tn One skin specialist told me it was from not cleansing properly, one GP said it was an allergic reaction and gave me antihistamines, another GP said it was Roscea and another said it was a form of Acne or Ezcema! I am taking a low dosage of Vibromysin which is meant to be a good antibiotic for skin/acne but these back spots are now getting worse. Has anyone had anything like this? They never seem to go beyond my back or my forehead.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
