268356 tn?1236002604 The active ingredients are acetaminphen (same as tylenol which I know is okay), pheniramine (antihistamine), and phenylephrine (nasal decongestant).

Avatar f tn Here's one for the books. My daughter has had a allergic reaction to an oral antihistamine she took for what appeared to be hives just below the right side of her derriere. This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process.
Avatar f tn Take tylonal cold/flu and vitamin c, and drink Orange juice and get as much sleep as you can. That's what my doctor said bc im 38 weeks and had a cold for a week. I don't know if robitussun is to good for you while your pregnant.
Avatar m tn I'm a 21 year old male. Four weeks ago, I came down with what seemed to be a cold. I experienced congestion, cough, and laryngitis a day or two after exposure to large amounts of hay and agricultural lime. Taking this into consideration, I'm a bit skeptical as to whether or not it was a cold or just an alergic reaction. The symptoms have drastically decreased.
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar f tn What my allergiest thought when I told her this was that the antihistamines were working because since I'm allergic to molds that when it is about to rain the mold spores count are higher, now I'm not sure sometimes I'm even dizzy in my sleep and this wakes me up, so I just take an antihistamine then and usually within a 1/2 hour I can feel the difference.
Avatar f tn There is a skin condition you are describing associated with the cold weather. A second geberation antihistamine, like Allegra, helps control one part of the allergic skin reaction. A prescription medicine, Singulair acts on another part of the allergic reaction. You may want to ask your doctor about it. This forum is not a substitute for a medical examination, but you may have asthma. Asthma causes your airways to spasm causing breathing problems and could be triggered by cold weather.
Avatar m tn I am 42. Since decades I am suceptible to cold. Used mebhydrolin, cetrizine, fexofenadine, for prophylexis, got result but no complete recovery. Taking mometasone masal spray, got result, but not complete respite. How to get rid of it?
Avatar m tn Now from last 8 years I am facing headache and clogging of cold in sinus passage. I do have cold and dust ( old accumulated dust) allergy and hence if I do some cleaning of old articles or spend more time in water, I get immediate cold problem. Cold accumulates for 2-3 months and then headache starts. Now days I also get pain back of my head, ears or some time below ears and jaws back side. Can anyone guide me about treatment for such sinus issues.
Avatar n tn The population most affected is young adults age 18 to 25 years Severe reactions can be seen with exposure to cold water. Swimming in cold water is the most common cause of a severe reaction. This can cause a massive release of histamine resulting in low blood pressure, fainting, shock, and even death. This allergic response can take several forms, from rashes to wheezing, hives, swelling and redness.
Avatar n tn If it's a cold, then it would disappear in a few days and if not then it's most likely flu or something else. Just take paracetamol for the aches and pains and try some vapour rub to help clear congestion. You say that you were coughing up green stuff though? I would keep an eye on that, if you're congested and coughing up green stuff that's usually sign of infection because it should be cloudy white or clear otherwise. If it continues go see your doctor.
Avatar n tn For OTC cough syrup, I use Delsym (Dextromethorphan polistirex) or Mucinex (Guaifenesin). I've never had a problem with either, and I'd consider myself fairly sensitive to cold medications. When I need the big guns, I get my PCP to prescribe Tussionex (chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone) aka. "Liquid Gold". I love this stuff. It's expensive, hence the name. But you WILL stop coughing, and you WILL sleep!
Avatar f tn Not really, but did you wean off it, or cold turkey. that could make the difference.
Avatar f tn If you are not taking anything prescribed for your allergies, you can try an OTC antihistamine like Sudafed, as well. If using an antihistamine be aware that it will show up in drug tests, and can cause you to fail them. So always make the tester aware you are taking them before hand should you need a test done for work etc. I Hope This Helps.
1965789 tn?1325556251 It may be worth asking about the antihistamine too. I know doctors are a little iffy about allowing a child to have the antihistamine, but she may need more so it could be worth asking about correct dosage. Likewise if her swelling, rash, or fever gets anyworse I'd suggest taking her to the ER. And if it sounds like she's having difficultly breathing I'd suggest taking her to the ER asap! Otherwise make sure she sees the dr first thing in the morning.
Avatar n tn It will eventually go away but usually takes time. For the meantime, you may take any antihistamine and check if your symptoms will be relieved. You should avoid scratching the area as well to prevent breaks in the skin and possible introduction of bacteria. Take care.
1711722 tn?1356487554 I take Allegra D (an antihistamine and decongestant) and motrin because I cannot take tylenol. I have had a cold or a mild version of the flu at different times since starting tx (am better now). I wouldn't take anything without talking to your doctor but the allegra d was deemed ok by my dr and it is now OTC. I know it is ok with peg+riba+ and incivek. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon!
Avatar n tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g.
Avatar n tn Hi there, what I think you have is cold urticaria, in which there is an inflammatory response to a drop in temperature, with increased circulation of histamines. These reaction could be life threatening. What you need to do is to keep yourself warm, and not being exposed to sudden drops in temperature. You might want to use oral antihistamines to relieve the allergy.
Avatar f tn My doctor always told me only regular Tylenol unless he prescribes something to me. Is no Tylenol sinus or Tylenol cold & flu or anything like that.
