There are slight variants in the way both antibiotics attack replication of bacteria. If you fail to complete the amoxcillin you risk developing an amoxcillan resistant strain. Generally medical practice is not to over-use antibiotics to prevent the development of resistant strains.

For the antibiotic to be effective it must be given for the full time or the infection will be knocked down but not killed and it will most likely return.

This was 4 days ago but the abcess is still there and I have some throbbing pain in the lower jaw and ear on that side. The extraction site has white spots beside it.

Avatar f tn Itchy and swollen doesn't sound like a uti to me. It could be bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection. I'm prone to these conditions and life is hell for me. Some doctors misdiagnose because vaginal problems are so similar. I don't know about the back pain or contractions. That might just be because you are further along?

Avatar f tn s very important you try to swallow them. I have a bacteria infection as well and currently just started taking them. After you get to a certain week you can't take them which could result in your baby being born with liver problems, etc You don't want that I'm sure!
