You see, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, and Moxifloxacin are all in the same class of antibiotics and bacteria creates resistance to classes of antibiotics, not individual antibiotics.
With the recent CDC announcement about gonorrhea and it's resistance to certain antibiotics, i was wondering if one of the dr's could comment on the 'current' efficacy of the 2 gram single dose of azithromycin? Is this still an effective regiment for gonorrhea and / or chlamydia, NGU, etc.? Are there particular cases or reasons for the patients where this treatment has started to fail? Thank you.
In that case your chances of catching anything are slim, furthermore taking antiobiotics for absolutely no reason can increase your resistance to antibiotics. So when/if you REALLY need to take them one day they might not work.
My question is whether somone could show resistance to antibiotics within the first weeks of exposure or is this more common in more advanced stages of HIV/AIDS?
Im 45 and have lost 1/2 of right breast and part of my left breast. have read that this could take years to clear up im on very heavy duty antibiotics at the moment and looking at another operation. is there any information or literature that i can read to help me Thanks Patricia

What I would like to know is if the people who have not taken many antibiotics in their lifetimes are as at risk as those who have built a resistance to them.
Is this mutant bacteria dangerous because the antibiotics don't work for a person who has a resistance or because it is so powerful that even if an antibiotic works well for you, the bacterial strain is so powerful, it will override any known antibiotic?

Definitely take the antibiotics. Uti is something that needs antibiotics to cure and if it goes untreated then can develop into a kidney problem which in some cases can cause early labour. Much safer to take the meds. I've been on the same antibiotics twice during this pregnancy and am now 36+ weeks and baby is perfectly healthy.
