I was watching TV with my feet on the ottoman. I moved my left foot (just a small movement) and it is like my ankle caught! Big pain, and I felt like I couldn't walk or move my foot! I did try to "walk it off", thinking it could be just a catch in my foot, but it didn't help. I couldn't hardly lift toes off the ground, but I could rotate my foot back and forth from side to side.
I hobbled out of game but was able to put weight on my foot and was able to move my ankle in all directions without direct pain. I elevated my leg and iced on and off for about 2 hours before going to bed. I have pretty severe throbbing and this morning is difficult to put pressure on my foot. The pain is not in my ankle bone...it feels as though my skin is going to pop open from the swelling. The swelling has come down quite a bit but there is still major swelling.
Hello all- After many, many acupuncture treatments, last week I had a treatment for knee arthritis in which I felt excruciating pain with a needle insertion below my knee and my foot kicked up simultaneously. Four days later, I have increasing burning and electricity pains radiating down the front of my shin along the tops of my feet. It also feels as though someone were cutting into my ankle or a very, very bad ankle sprain.
Hi, and welcome. Foot pain is NO fun. I have ms and other diseases and one of my newer problems is foot drop. It's been coming and getting worse over time, but is now so bad it has to be braced. My Achilles tendon is shortened due to a weak muscle in my leg preventing me from being able to lift my foot. Anyway, being in the "terminator boot" would cause severe stiffness and immobility for long enough that you may suffer from Achilles tendon shortening too.
I have been wearing it every day and my ankle pain in my left foot is down to a dull pain level. However, as of about a week ago my right foot started having identical pain (about two days before the pain started my right ankle seemed to be doing an unusual amount of cracking and popping in the front in the same area that my left ankle was having pain). About a day later, I started having the same popping and cracking in both wrists.
My wife noticed the bone structure where my foot and ankle meet is larger than my left foot. Podiatrist feels ankle pain is attributed to compensation from the pain of the Plantar Fasciitis. I wear prescribed orthotics. The pain in the ankle area is horrendous when I'm working. With burning and sharp pain waves. I've tried forcibly walking with my foot straight, and my foot and leg feel as though I'm trying walk pigeon toed and the pain increases.
I fractured my left tibia and growth plate when I was 14 and did not need surgery due to location. After healing I have problems with movement of the ankle, foot numbness, and foot being cold. 12 years later I broke the right side transverse processes L1-L4 being bucked off a horse. Had a bulging disc L4 L5 which "healed" and turned into degeneration. Also L5-S1 has severe degeneration as a result of everything. My left foot now has very little feeling and I have developed foot drop.

Why in the world does my left foot/ankle area hurt EVERY morning when I get out of bed. I had a simliar post about a "weird foot problem" a month or two ago, and it's still bothering me--only worse now. It's like my ankle on that side is so weak. I fell in the flower bed a couple of days ago, and running around the yard with my niece is a scary ordeal because my ankles feel so weak.
I have weakness in my ankle and foot and numbness in my leg and ankle. I am on Darvacet for pain but doesnt seem to help much- although my stomach cant really handle anything much stronger. My accident happened about a month ago and does not seem like the healing process is working too well yet. I have no idea what the expected time for healing is- i just wish it would come quick as I am sure you do too. I just got my prescription to start physical therapy this week so we will see how it goes.
I fractured my ankle in four places 3 years ago... I still have a hard time walking after sitting for anytime... the pain comes and goes.. but I still feel pain everyday..if you find out anything I sure would like to know..
What is the next step for my ankle to heal I was put in cam boot pwb the first 5 weeks and now he said non weight bearing for 3 weeks and it is still painful burning , and aching the ankle and foot is wider and larger than the left and I can bearly walk , I have been going to pt since the first week 3 times a week pool and land for 2 1/2 hrs . I am so scared this is not healing right and I will end up with a deformed foot and ankle and be crippled.
I have a very stiff right ankle, I had a bone spur removed from it in September, the bone spur had been there for up to 3 years, however the range of movement has only improved a little. I now get a 'pain' on the inside of the ankle near the joint itself, and it feels like this is what is stopping my ankle from flexing further. Also my ankle 'clicks' and 'clonks' a lot when I repeated flex and unflex it. Does anybody know the problem I have and how to fix it?
So he put me on an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic and said to come back in a week. After a week of treatment, my foot/ankle have gone unchanged. Today they did a blood test for electrolytes, blood count, cholesterol, and all that. Everything came back normal. So they gave me a prescription for something that is supposed to get rid of the fluid buildup, but once again they had no answers beyond "take these meds and see us in a week".
I have been rehabbing it in the last week and I could jog and even sprint forward. However, there is some pain in lateral movement and pain at the bottom of my foot when i cut (in basketball). Also, when I rotate my ankle clockwise, there is pain when my toe reaches about 4 o'clock (the original direction of the sprain)
About how much longer will it take before it is 100% or close? Also, what is a tendon damage during a sprain? Could I have some tendon damage or ligament tear?
In December of 2012 I had arthroscopic surgery to remove scar tissue in the joint which was impairing my motion and since having this done I still have pain in the outter and joint of my ankle and a burning feeling along the top of my foot around my toe joints. I thought that after having the scar tissue removed I would feel better but to the contrary. If anyone can give me some advice of why or what my next option may be it would be appreciated.
i broke my left ankle about 2 years ago, and i still have sever pain. i have seen many doctors and no one seems to help me. i get accused of being a dug seeking addiction, when i just want the pain to stop. in the middle of my left ankle it hurts, like i can rub the nerves and it makes it feel alittle better, but it hurts. doctors keep telling me to go to pain clinics and i dont want to go, and just get pain pills. i want it to stop hurting. what can i do, or what treatment can i get.
