Common Questions and Answers about Causes of foot pain treatment

foot

Avatar f tn I have an intense pain on the ball of one foot. It also happened about 6 years ago and I went to a podiatrist who recommended an orthodic insert and I also did stretches for the achilles tendon. It helped. The pain is back and none of the two remedies are helping now. What should I do? It hurts all the time. I do quite a bit of walking at my job.
Avatar n tn One of the most common causes of heel pain is called plantar fascitis. The plantar fascia is the tissue in the sole/mid foot among the tendons. Plantar fascitis is inflammation of this tissue. The pain typically occurs in the inner side of the heel. The pain typically occurs after taking the first few steps in the morning and improves with continued walking. The pain may radiate up the leg.
428506 tn?1296557399 Lately when I go to the gym I often stop exercising because of this foot pain. (Either foot pain or fatigue typically limit my efforts at the gym.) Whether I do stationary bike, elliptical, or whatever, the pressure on the bottom of my inflamed feet becomes too much of a distraction. This problem seems about as bad (or possibly worse?) than earlier in my treatment, making me wonder if I should pass it off as Bart/Lyme.
Avatar m tn This causes severe burning pain in the region and the treatment would include nerve blocks by a pain physician in a specialized clinic. Neurontin would give some relief but should only be started on a prescription. Take care and all the best.
Avatar f tn What causes the majority of the pain is usually the side-to-side rotation of the foot/ankle, not so much the up/down motion of flexing and extending the foot. Often the pain seems to travel up to involve the ankle and lower let. A custom-made ankle brace, one that allows your foot to flex up and down normally, but stabilizes and prevents rolling in and out, can be a big help.
Avatar m tn In the last 2-3 years have acquired severe pain in ankle and foot! I get a burning pain in center of foot and at the ball behind big toe it stays sore to the touch.. .. Any recommendations!???
Avatar f tn I have a question regarding my foot anyone with information would be greatly appreciated. I have pain in my right foot, mainly my big toe and the one next to it, and have resorted to altering the way I walk in order to achieve some sort of relief. I have tremendous pain after sitting and standing up. I do not have medical insurance and am wondering if anyone has any tips, remedies, etc that could help me.
1558461 tn?1295392601 Yes, it can, and here's why: Pain in one joint causes a change in the way you stand and walk, even if it's something subtle you don't notice or are conscious of. This causes increased stress on the next joint up the line, then the next, etc. etc. What seems to be arthritis "spreading" could simply be the muscles and ligaments of those stressed joints yelling in protest. Or causing other bones to rub together differently and thus cause joint inflammation.
Avatar n tn I have been having a swelling of the left ankle and foot since several years now. The swelling is more pronounced in summer. To add to my woes I have a spur in the left foot. My last blood test revealed Uric acid was a little high. I have since been taking medication to reduce that but the swelling is persisting. Can anyone tell me if the swelling on the left foot only is caused by uric acid levels or should I be looking for any other causes,Also how can I get relief from the spur?
1023657 tn?1251844941 One of them is exercise. Fibromyalgia pain is muscle pain and the most important therapy for muscle pain is regular, gentle and low-impact exercise. It keeps muscles conditioned and healthy and decreases the amount of discomfort. It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms.
Avatar m tn for a year now i have been having foot pain that goes into my calfs somtimes and in the fromt of my leeft lower leg with a bit of burning pain in my feet i was told it was planter muscle but my god its been over a year and i have tried everything is there anybody else like this ??
Avatar n tn I had surgery for a freibergs infarction over a month ago and I am still in tremendous pain. I am being told continously to elevate my foot. When my foot is elevated for 5-10 minutes it goes completely numb and causes more pain. The pain is tremendous when elevated. I always thought that elevation would alieviate pain not increase this. What could be causing this?
Avatar f tn I already posted this in another forum but i wanted as much feed back as i can get lol....So I have had pain in the back of my heels since I found out I was pregnant but recently it's getting worse. It doesn't matte if I'm standing or sitting the pain is horrible. If I sit for more than two minutes and try to get up and walk the pain is almost unbearable! Does anyone know what this is? Any advice? Should I talk to my dr when I see her next?
721523 tn?1331581802 Hi all, I was up all night with horrid leg pain. The muscles in my right foot and then my right calf started the fun. The worst was by far my left shin muscle. I have verry muscular legs due to the way that I walk. I have never had any MS problems with my legs. I was in teh French Quarter in NO last night. I did some walking with my family. I did not do more or faster than normal. Any ideas what would cause this? It was almost solid pain for 4 hours.
Avatar f tn I went for an x ray and my family physician informed me that there is some arthritis starting, but that could not be the explanation for the pain. A foot clinic doctor looked at my foot, told me this is normal because of my age, and I need to get a fitted insole. That would take care of the pain. I am using insoles for the last couple of months, the ones with memory, etc. and they helped a bit. Now I have found out when I put heat on my foot, i.e.
Avatar n tn Plantar fasciitis, arthritis of small joints, diabetic neuropathy, hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, over weight, deep vein thrombosis, wrong foot wear, gout, etc are a few causes of foot pain. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. You may need to consult an orthopedic specialist and get X-ray and maybe MRI of the feet, nerve conduction studies, blood glucose examination etc. Take care!
1503777 tn?1289497132 the causes could be injury causing persistent muscle spasm as a protective mechanism, vigorous use of muscles following activity, rest cramps but your husband doesnot have these at rest, dehydration causes true cramps in hot weather and can be an early sign of heat stroke, loss of sodium, cirrhosis of liver where you have unusual fluid distribution due to ascites.
Avatar n tn No, herpes wouldn't at all cause "severe cause foot pain". See your doctor for a proper exam/diagnosis. No, HSV does not turn into HIV.
