Running foot ankle pain

Common Questions and Answers about Running foot ankle pain

foot

Avatar m tn m not an anatomy expert but it seems to be in the lower area of the Flexor Digitorum Longus, on the tibia side. The pain is rstricted to above the ankle, and there is no pain on the sole of my foot or my toes. It usually begins the day after a run and lasts up to a few days. In those days afterwards, even walking 30-40 minutes can flare it up. . A run with a very steep hill seems to be a guarantee to bring the symptoms on.
Avatar n tn have you mentioned this foot ankle pain to the Neuro before? I think you should next week. write down all your symptoms.. if the Neuro says he doesn't know.. ask how you can get some answers. 1696489 tn?1370821974 Recently, i did a 6 day stint in the hospital, where I would pace the halls whenever I was bored, which was quite a bit. Ever since then, my ankle is KILLING me. Pain to the point where I have to put the hard boot back on, and use a cane to walk. I can put slight pressure on it in the boot, no pressure at all without it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar m tn s now becoming more painfull, i go to classes at the gym, and if i do jumping or balance on my feet for to long the burning pain kicks in, an is now mowing towards the arch of the foot, this happens in both feet but more pain in the right. I have had previous Blood clots in my calf before to, my calfs ont hurt as much during activity, it's just the ankles.
Avatar m tn I am 34 year old female with chronic bilateral ankle pain. The pain in my right foot is terrible..my ankle aches all the time, my left foot is bearable. I can't wear shoes other than sneakers, and even wearing sneakers my foot aches. I was diagnosed with sinus tarsi syndrome. Originally in May 2015, I had grade 2 ankle sprain of ATFL ligament and bone edema in calcaneus...this was after completing exercise program T25 and running.
Avatar m tn Back in late Feb/early March I had pain in my foot when running, which after some google searches I assumed was plantar fasciitis, though not 100% sure. Then around Easter I noticed a small pea sized lump a tad under my ankle bone, visible only when my ankle is bent a certain way but you can feel it always. This caused no pain, and I really dont know how long that was even there before I finally noticed.
Avatar m tn I have sprained my left ankle many times, and the pain felt like a sprain; however, the way the pain was caused in my right foot did not resemble any of the ways I had previously sprained my left ankle. I took 2 weeks off to let it rest and then began my normal running routine. It was still in somewhat of pain, but I thought this was just part of the healing process. I ran a season in cross country and often found myself in the ice bath trying to heal the ankle.
Avatar f tn The person it found me and I started running, I ran up two stairs and at the top was a lot of rubber and a railroad tie, I slipped on the Rubber and my right ankle went sideways slamming against the railroad tie. Now I am having pain from my right foot to my knee and sometimes further up when walking, and from my right foot to my hip when laying down. What could this be? (What could I have done to it?) Do I need to go to the emergency room?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am only 19 years old and have had ankle pain for 10 years. It all started out with a little sharp pain in my ankle. I've had 4 surgeries on my ankle. My most recent surgery was this past April. As well as arthritis I also have sharp throbbing pains throughout my ankle shooting up my leg and into my back. I've had a few tests done that ruled out fibromyalgia and sciatica as well as rls or any back problem. I've tried everything from injections to physical therapy.
Avatar f tn And a lot of times I got a feeling in my ankle like when you need to crack your knuckles and rolling the ankle around will relieve it. But no pain. And then if I flexed my foot with my toes pointing down, and I know this sounds really weird, sometimes there is a feeling in the back and towards the left that is so mild, I couldn't even tell if it was actually pain. Just maybe like a pressure....almost like the feeling of needing to crack something!
Avatar f tn However the pain increased and now it is everytime I step with my heel the pressure on my heel cause pain and also an acute pain on the right side of my upper ankle. It is literally just localized to that one are and it is not my whole ankle or foot. When I walk on just the upper part of my foot there is no pain as well as sitting and twisting my foot around there is no pain. As I stay off of it it does not get worse and it actually felt a little better this Thursday morning.
Avatar m tn However, there is some pain in lateral movement and pain at the bottom of my foot when i cut (in basketball). Also, when I rotate my ankle clockwise, there is pain when my toe reaches about 4 o'clock (the original direction of the sprain) About how much longer will it take before it is 100% or close? Also, what is a tendon damage during a sprain? Could I have some tendon damage or ligament tear?
246923 tn?1249154300 a few weeks ago (1 week and a half) I had a little accident at my school during P.E class, while I was running I twisted my foot and fell down, the whole day was torture since it was really hard to walk...days passed and the pain wouldnt go away, my friend gave me a massage with Bengay (I think that's how it;s called) but the pain won't go away... it is really uncomfortable to walk and very painful...my foot isn't swollen but the pain is not decreasing... My question is...
Avatar f tn What causes the majority of the pain is usually the side-to-side rotation of the foot/ankle, not so much the up/down motion of flexing and extending the foot. Often the pain seems to travel up to involve the ankle and lower let. A custom-made ankle brace, one that allows your foot to flex up and down normally, but stabilizes and prevents rolling in and out, can be a big help.
1453990 tn?1329231426 I have spasticity in my right leg and a clonus at the ankle of that leg. I also have a drop foot (since April) on the right. I should mention that while all of that has been diagnosed, I have not yet been diagnosed with ms. Clonus is a neurological sign, and is arepetitive reflex motion most often seen in the ankle (it can be seen in the knee and elbow too). My doc found mine when he held the bottom of my foot and flexed it up quickly at the ankle.
Avatar f tn I have ongoing right ankle pain post an inversion injury where I sprained my ankle, 5 months ago, while I was running down some steps on a steep walking track. My initial xray was normal. Physiotherapy didn't help. I got an MRI which showed a ganglion cyst through the posterior talofibular ligament, plus another smaller cyst, plus some tenosynovitis of the flexor hallucis longus.
Avatar n tn The shooting/stabbing pain is crippling when I put any sort of weight on my foot, and puts me on the floor for 3-5 minutes until I can get up again - the pain is completely gone. The pain runs up along from the bottom of my shin to underneath the kneecap where the shin meets the knee. Any ideas on what this might be caused by?
1114793 tn?1258730647 He describes the pain as starting on the outside part of the top of his foot near his ankle. The pain goes across the top of his foot, and goes into the back of his ankle near the Achilles tendon area and up his calf. He said that it is a sharp stabbing pain that only subsides to a dull ache if he is off of it for quite a few days. The backside of his heel also hurts. I began doing some research, and I came across something called "posterior tibial tendon dysfunction.
Avatar f tn I have pretty severe throbbing and this morning is difficult to put pressure on my foot. The pain is not in my ankle bone...it feels as though my skin is going to pop open from the swelling. The swelling has come down quite a bit but there is still major swelling. Today do I continue with ice packs and then switch to heat? Does this sound like this injury could be more than just a major knot/bruise combo? Trying to figure out if doctor's visit is necessary. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have weakness in my ankle and foot and numbness in my leg and ankle. I am on Darvacet for pain but doesnt seem to help much- although my stomach cant really handle anything much stronger. My accident happened about a month ago and does not seem like the healing process is working too well yet. I have no idea what the expected time for healing is- i just wish it would come quick as I am sure you do too. I just got my prescription to start physical therapy this week so we will see how it goes.
Avatar f tn No rads of my foot and no MRI or CT. My pain level is ok, but after a long day of working on my feet it can become pretty unbearable. Do I need to seek further help with an orthopedist? Is it possible I ruptured ligaments and/or tendons that have not healed? If so, would this now be a surgical case? Please help!
Avatar f tn My ankle has been hurting for about 10 years. It all began when I was 14 and in High School. (I weighed 115 pounds at the time, so I know my weight has nothing to do with my ankle pain.) I was walking to my class one day, and began climbing two flights of stairs. When I stepped back down on my foot, it's as if my foot didn't connect back into my ankle joint correctly. My ankle did not twist in any unusual way. It was completely random. It was as if my ankle just gave out randomly.
Avatar m tn It could be a nerve that got pinched. But nerve pain is usually burning pain or a radiating pain and not sharp. When I torn a ligament in my back I couldn't lift my foot either for a couple of months and could hardly walk for a long time. It will heal if that is the case.
97615 tn?1212678589 This is located below the ankle bone on the outside of the foot but closer to the bottom of the foot than to the ankle bone. I have seen a chiropractor for an adjustment that did not work. I have seen a podiatrist that said I have tendonitis and gave me a corticosteroid shot. It had no effect. I will not do that again. I can run on it and have no other pain. There is only this electric shock sensation while flexing. Please help!!
Avatar m tn Now about a month back i had fallen while snowboarding and it bent my knee inwards the pain at the time wasnt too bad but its worsening and also is making my ankle hurt more. Im only 21 years old 140 lbs any type of reason for the constant ankle pain would be appreciated.
