Angiogram to brain

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram to brain

angiogram

Avatar n tn Mine is being watched as it is too small to do anything about as of yet. And they may not have to do anything to it at all. Usually, if its below certain mm they just watch it but I'm finding that that number is different for doctors. When my neurosurgeon talked about what would be done he spoke about clipping the aneurysm which is behind my eye.
Avatar f tn Magnetic resonance angiogram evaluates the blood vessels supplying a structure, more commonly requested to evaluate the blood supply of the brain. If it says no significant abnormalities, then it says that there's nothing wrong with the blood supply (no aneurysms, malformations, etc.). However, the gold standard in evaluating the blood supply of the brain is through 4 vessel angiogram which is an invasive procedure.
548182 tn?1215216723 D I just went to the doctor, and he said that although all lab work suggest there is no vasculitis (which is the main reason he wants to do the angiogram), he still wants to go ahead with the angio.. just to make extra sure. I even asked him if there is an immediate need for this procedure, but he said no. Although he would just have to make sure that I really do have narrowed veins and not vasculitis. Hmmm. Anyway... thank you so much doctor Paul!
359574 tn?1328360424 My 5 mm annie on the internal carotid has the ophthalmic artery coming out the side of it. The doctor who did my angiogram told me it wasn't treatable through endovascular means like coiling because it would cut off blood to the eye. The surgeon also told me a craniotomy and clipping is riskier than leaving it alone and monitoring it. At my one year follow-up, the CT Angiogram showed no changes.
Avatar m tn I HAVE AN UNRUPTURED 5 MM BRAIN ANEURYSM WHICH APPEARED FOLLOWING A ROUTINE MRA SCAN FOLLOWING OPEN HEAD BRAIN SURGERY TO REMOVE A NON CANCEROUS TUMOUR ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO THE LAST SCAN 15 MONTHS SHOWED NOTHING - MY NEUROSURGEON WANTS ME TO HAVE A DIGITAL SUBTRACTION ANGIOGRAM TO CARRY OUT A MORE DETAILED EVALUATION. HOW DANGEROUS IS THIS TYPE OF SCAN. I KNOW IT HAS IN RISKS IN RELATION TO STROKES ETC., I AM 63 YEARS OF AGE.
Avatar f tn Cranial Nerve Palsy. I was ordered an angiogram of the Brain. Anyone able to provide me feedback on the diagnosis and or the CTA. Angiogram?
Avatar f tn They found a 4mm carotid aneurysm in my scan last week. I am to get a CT Angiogram Wed and then see the neurosurgeon in August. I am on coumadin due to a blood clot in my sagittal sinus (reason why they found the aneurysm) from 2009. Was just wondering if someone has been through this process before and what I need to expect.
Avatar m tn A doctor inserts a long thin tube into an artery in your legs and guides it through your blood vessels to the arteries in your neck that lead to your brain. A specialist injects dye into the arteries, which creates a map of your arteries and the aneurysm on xrays. CT can reveal blood flow in your brain and show aneurysm location.
Avatar m tn We recommend for this patient to undergo coiling of the intradural segment of the left vertebral artery, in order to exclude the dissecting aneurysm from circulation. Effectively they will block off the left vertebral artery and just left the right vertebral artery supply blood to the brain.. does that sound bad?
Avatar m tn Last year I suffered a serious brain bleeding rupture. I was rushed to a hospital and remained in intensice care for 11 days monitoring the condition. No surgery was necessary and was released since the ruptured vessel closed on its own. It was not considered an aneurysm. Am I susceptible for a reoccurance? I'm on a daily dose 120mg. mild Gkingo natural plant extract blood thinner capsules. No other medication was advised.
Avatar n tn the symptoms of headache and so on resolve, and the blood vessels return to normal. An angiogram is necessary to make the diagnosis, but additional testing that could be used in follow-up include a CT angiogram and a transcranial doppler (TCD) which is less invasive.
359574 tn?1328360424 I had my initial appointment with a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins yesterday about my brain aneurysm. She is not happy with the quality of the angiogram I had done in March, and wants me to have one done at Hopkins. Then she would follow up with me, and also have me see another neuro-ophthalmalogist while I'm there. I will have to schedule it around my work, so it may not be until sometime next year.
Avatar n tn Now they have ordered a ballon angiogram of my head and neck to be sure the aneurism is truly not a problem and that my problems with balance and nerve pulses up the back of my head when I look to either side or down are not due to a poor supply of blood to the brain. Two of my doctors think I might have trigeminal neuralgia. Will this angiogram help confirm or refute that possible diagnosis?
Avatar n tn I have to have a valve replaced and am having an angiogram to see if there is blockage to be treated at the same time. The physician doing the angiogram has indicated he will put in a stent if he finds blockage. My feeling is that this is unnecessary as the major advantage of angioplasty (less invasive than bypass) is totally irrelevant since I'm having a valve replaced anyway. Thoughts?
Avatar f tn When he comes round his Headache is worse, his Nystagmus is really bad, he is very Dizzy and Uncoordinated and the tunnel sounds last for awhile. I just took him in for an Angiogram where they had him move his head to the point of when he feels his symptoms the Angiogram turned out okay, but he pass out. The Dr. said he kept call my husbands name with no response and he was rubbing his knuckles on his chest with no response at first then he came round.
1569294 tn?1296126095 cardioligist sent me for exercise tolerance test this showed up slight racing of heart. dr now wants me to have another angiogram even though he dosent think its comming from the small narrowing i have in right artery. I have to make decision as have letter to go for this in 3 weeks time and i am frightened of this angiogram especially when doctor feels its not coming from there and its stressing me out.
Avatar m tn In which case, you would need an angiogram (an x ray of the brain where the blood vessels will light up after injecting contrast material) Discuss with your doctors all the options and possibilities. Regards...
776302 tn?1241091853 I just heard about the Seimens Sensation 64 slice CT scanner test as an accurate alternative to the angiogram. It is non-invasive and the angiogram is invasive and may have serious side effects. Is this type of scanner really as accurate as an angiogram? Please let me know.
Avatar f tn have you accepted that a CT scan is as effective as the 'gold standard' catheter angiogram? Which kind of CT please? The 64-slice? That's the latest I have heard of.
678571 tn?1228012270 According to the cardiologist who talked to me afterwards and also preformed the angiogram said that I would never be able to have a bypass and just had to life with less oxygen in my left ventricle. He all showed me this in a still picture from my heart cath. I never saw this cardiologist again. After wards I was in critical care and had all kinds of severe arrhythmias. My husband who was in the waiting room was never told anything even when he asked afterwards.
Avatar n tn The doctor has put me on Depokote 3-4 weeks ago and I am still having siezure like symptoms (which I failed to mention in the beginning). I am ready to call the Fox network and ask them to put this situation on "House" so they can fiqure it out! Is anyone having anything similiar happening?
Avatar m tn I think he will open collateral vessels from the LCx to feed tissue fed by the bottom of the LAD. Have an angiogram in a years time to see how things are going. They obviously need to do a good stenting job on the RCA because you want good results on this. Don't worry about another stroke, the meds will greatly reduce the risk. Has his carotid arteries been scanned? the ones in the neck which feed the brain etc?
848718 tn?1257138801 ve heard from with that have been told to be monitored annually via MRA or CT angiogram to see if it grows into something to worry about. My docs haven't mentioned doing that, but the way things have been going, I end up with annual brain MRIs annually anyway, and I'll probably just ask that they do the MRA as well at the same time. Oh, and you asked about symptoms -- they have grown and changed over the past three years.
Avatar n tn I am a 30 year old female, just had a 4 vessel cerebral angiogram and was diagnosed with a 2mm aneurysm on the right side of the brain. I was told I would have to be followed every 2 years to make sure it didn't grow. Is this the normal time span for follow up? Also..I am very active, I run quite a bit and lift weights. Is this still safe for me to do? I'm not sure what, if any, effects there would be. Any advice would be helpful.
649926 tn?1297657780 Dear Doctor, I have had MS symptoms for 10 years starting with neuropathy in the legs, neck pain & black outs and my first brain lesion which was non specific. Prior to that I had severe endometriosis and a mega-colon resection eventually a hysterectomy. Symptoms continued including severe colonic inertia, esophageal motility disorder, tiny skin blisters in the sun even with sunscreen, chronic low potassium. Doctors ran tests for lupus, MS, etc and only tested positive for sjogren's.
Avatar f tn this happened to my father at 72yrs old, on both sides his corroted arteries were almost completely blocked on both sides, he was operated on and they were cleared. If left they can cause serious problems, Sometimes they can be partially blocked and medication is enough to thin the blood so it gets through.to the brain. His tests should reveal the prognosis. Good luck.
