Angiogram through arm

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram through arm

angiogram

Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
Avatar m tn m not a doctor but the pain in your arm is probably coming from your heart not your arm. In any event. this is NOT a good sign. Get a new doctor if you need to, or even another hospital but get help NOW!
974371 tn?1424653129 t say we have the best doctors where I live. Anyway, I am afraid an angiogram will be ordered and I really do NOT want one of those done. No way could I get through that and understand they keep you awake? Wondering if there is an alternative and if anyone has had the angiogram done and what your experiences were.
Avatar m tn I had an angiogram through my wrist 4 days ago...they said they nicked a vein but that my arm will bruise. I had a blood pressure cuff around my forearm and the thing on my wrist. Its been very painful and is still a little swollen. Today the bruise is almost to to my elbow, now aching and my hand has began tingling.
Avatar m tn I then had a CT scan where dye was injected slowly through my arm. The images produced from this scanner were mind blowing. You could see a complete 3D image of my heart along with blood vessels and how much blood they were carrying. The veins were there, just like bits of string, completely empty. I have to add tho, that I certainly knew when they collapsed. The very sudden shortness of breath brought me to my knees for about 20 minutes. Then angina returned as a common occurrence.
976897 tn?1379167602 In my last hospital admission, I was speaking with a Cardiologist before my emergency Angiogram. I asked if the catheter could be put through my radial artery rather than the femoral. He said that it isn't a problem even though I've had a Cabgx3. When I got to the Angio-suite I was told "you cannot have anything except the femoral artery used because we don't have images of your bypass and we could take a wrong turning". Personally I find this crazy.

Avatar n tn The only test that is the most certain except for open heart surgery is the angiogram. The angiogram will give a very good indication as to what is going on. You are female so your hormones should protect you against heart disease or at least help protect you. When you go through menopause, the LDL levels will rise quickly. Usually, that it when the problems begin for women. I would think with the cholesterol medication you could get your LDL under control. Your LDL should be down to 100.
Avatar f tn I would consider having an Angiogram, but through your arm and not the leg artery. You have some calcium showing up on the ct scan of which I will translate for you. Halfway down your left main coronary artery (LAD) you have suggested moderate sized blockage due to the calcium detected. The word 'luminal' is in reference to the open space in the artery which blood flows through.
Avatar f tn I had an MRI done and it showed a 60% blockage in the left renal artery. They sent me for a catherazation through through the groin area and they didn't see any blockage. I do have a dull flank pain. I also now have high blood pressure.
Avatar m tn hi to everyone. I have been experiencing left sided chest pains and left arm pain for several months now...I would describe the pain to be mostly pressure/tightnes in nature, sometimes it could be sharp in nature, the pain shoots down my left arm. The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal.
Avatar m tn had angiogram done back in april of 2014, everything looked good.
Avatar n tn This month I have been extremely fatigued and have had some chest pain. I had a EKG, Cardiolite Stress test, and now am scheduled for an angiogram. They tell me that everything seems normal, but a concern of a low ejection fraction and wall motion abnormality (expulsion of 45%). What will they be looking for with the angiogram?
Avatar f tn An angiogram will help determine if you blockage(s). I first had the procedure done in 2005 and the doctor found an artery with 90% blockage. He put in a stent.
Avatar m tn It is a very simple test where they pass a long very thin tube in through your arm or leg, to your heart. They then guide it to the left side and squirt a dye into the artery which is picked up by a scanner above the chest, giving images of your arteries. They then do the same on the right side. This is a test to see if you have any blockages in your arteries and the results are used to determine if you require no intervention, just medication, stents or bypass surgery.
Avatar f tn It pains when Im stressed or experiencing heavy emotions,it is like a biting pain in chest and leftside back if Im too stressed then sometimes my left arm pains it goes off after sometime.Im 27 male had blood and urine test and ECG checked before but the doc say everthing is normal .
Avatar n tn of heart action and blood flow through your valves and arteries (called an angiogram). Doctors can see the number of blockages that you have and how serious those blockages are. In patients with CAD, coronary angiography usually shows a blocked artery that slows blood flow to the heart. BUT INDIVIDUALS WITH CSX, there may be an abnormal exercise stress test and a normal coronary angiogram, and the doctor may suspect cardiac syndrome X.
Avatar m tn I had seen an eye doctor becuase of vision loss in my left eye, i had my eyes fully diolated, and went through an eye exam. About 4 -5 days they performed the Angiogram, injected the dye into my arm and started to take photos of the eye. they didnt see anything that stood out so i was refered to the eye hospital downtown. About a week later i went down there had a full diolation done, and another eye exam.
Avatar m tn s assistant with coronary artery problems which have required several catheterizations in the past, just told me about his last angiogram in which they ran the catheter through the WRIST, via the radial artery. He said it was a piece of cake compared to his previous experiences. Here is more info about this procedure: http://www.oregonlive.com/health/index.ssf/2011/09/treating_heart_disease_through.
Avatar f tn Do you have a Facebook or email that I can send you a picture of my results through? I don’t know how to send a picture through private messsge on here.
1213000 tn?1280463161 On May 19, after a MRI stress test was abnormal and an angiogram showed diffuse restonosis of the LAD stents, I underwent CABG (4X). 10 weeks later, another abnormal MRI stress test and on 30 July another angiogram. the results of thst angiogram was, all stents are now closed, all grafts are open but there is flow irregularities that may be caused by size mismatch between the vein grafts and the native arteries. This is being treated with Metprolol 25 mg and Diltiazem 120.
Avatar n tn An angiogram can be performed with a cath (intervention with a probe through the leg vessel to the heart), or ct scan (best is a 128 slice) that views the blood flow (dye has been injected) through the coronary arteries. There isn't a high risk with a cath, and it is not painful, but have an understanding with the doctor whether or not your father wants a stent implant if there is some blockage, and whether the stent(s) are drug coated or not (obtain an opinon what the doctor prefers).
Avatar n tn An angiogram involves, a catheter being inserted in an artery in your groin or arm and threaded through your blood vessels to your heart. Your doctor uses the angiogram to check for blocked or narrowed blood vessels in your heart. If this has not been offered, I certainly would ask for one, this is one of the "gold standard" tests for heart issues such as yours. I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn But yes, I wonder if they will do a Cta or a femoral angiogram. The CTa is non invasive but is a angiogram more conclusive.
20794198 tn?1534529493 I’m good with medical procedures, can sit watching blood being drawn from my arm, look at a catheter in my arm for hours. I’m not squeamish! I’m scared about the beta blocker that is given before, and how it make me feel. Will it make me feel dizzy? Will it cause arrhythmia?
