Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram questions to ask

angiogram

Avatar f tn (You do have the right to do this.) If your cardiologist refuses to answer your questions and explain the risks in detail, -get another. Do you have someone who can be an educated "advocate" for you? This will help to have a calm head in the room. Good luck. Most cardiologists are reasonable people and are willing to answer any questions. If it is a in-hospital general practitioner or internist ordering the test, I'd wait to have it done until I'd spoken with a cardiologist.
Avatar m tn t be that way but it is. You must DEMAND to see the doctor and ask all the questions you need answered or maybe you need a new doctor. I kept asking and finally met with my surgeon for over an hour. As it was all new to me I asked for and met with a dietician as well. From my experience as a volunteer I can tell you that hereditary heart problems are the most dangerous and the most difficult to combat. the blockages you have are serious...don't wait on this to get worse.
974371 tn?1424653129 Thank you for the info. I see my doc today and see why he wants me to see a cardiologist. I'm a nervous wreck, waiting to have a heart attack and didn't sleep at all last night. Add to this, had to call an ambulance for my husband last week because he passed out and now we are trying to get his BP under control. Yes, I am scared.
1145423 tn?1261404857 And I meet with my neurosurgen and neuroradiologist 30dec so i will be asking for your help in determing the right questions to ask. They then plan to do the angiogram 4 days later tentivly. its after the angiogram we talk surgery right. and one more thing. I have been experiencing painbehind and on my eyes and sometimes my vision just dims...like sombody is dimming the lights. is this normal.
Avatar f tn I always had problems with remembering what I planned on asking the doctor too. One day I just pulled out my list of questions that I had meant to ask but couldn't remember and my doctor actually said he was glad that I had written them down. It saves them time while we are trying to remember, plus they don't have to deal with us calling later because we remembered something we had forgotten to ask.
Avatar f tn Angiograms are the gold standard for seeing inside your coronary arteries and they can measure the blood flow rate/pressure anywhere in those arteries. After my 6th Angiogram, I had to ask them to start using my other leg because all the scar tissue was starting to get a bit painful with each new procedure. On a personal note, there is nothing to fear. It's better to remain calm and see the fascinating technology with awe.
1569294 tn?1296126095 cardioligist sent me for exercise tolerance test this showed up slight racing of heart. dr now wants me to have another angiogram even though he dosent think its comming from the small narrowing i have in right artery. I have to make decision as have letter to go for this in 3 weeks time and i am frightened of this angiogram especially when doctor feels its not coming from there and its stressing me out.
Avatar n tn If the nuclear testing doesnt show 100% and original angiogram showed some other blockage in one area of 75% =, could this cause the pain to still exist....The nitro has no effect in helping either.
Avatar f tn Hope this helps, if you have any further questions please feel free to ask. Take care.
Avatar n tn how do i intepret an angiogram result? to know which is left or right? how to know if there is a block?
Avatar n tn HI and welcom to the forum ......
Avatar n tn 1.The root path where the aorta meets the arteries, where the 60% blockage is. 2.Yes angiogram was done, My father had a heart attack and we rushed to the nearest hospital. The doctor found 100% blockage in right artery and went through a angioplasty for the right artery but while the angiogram he found 2 more blockage in left and main aorta.Doctor gave us two options first angioplasty and second bypass. As bypass is a megor oparetion so i think angioplasty is more suitable.
Avatar f tn What are the informed, educated questions to ask and make the right decision on continuing meds vs stents vs redo bypass. My mother is a doctor and needs to ask the right questions to the surgeon and make informed, educated decision for my father.
Avatar f tn He said it was OK. I continue to get the chest pains. He wants to give me an angiogram since I have been told even though the Stress test was OK I didn't walk long enough. I only walked for 5 mins. I am very worried about the angiogram and any negative effects that could result from having it. I am in my late 40's and probably in perimenopause. I am also prone to anxiety and don't handle stress very well.
Avatar n tn Please list some! I go to my appointments with no questions. I feel like I need to make a list and just check off, but I have bo clue. This is my first baby.
Avatar f tn After my official diagnosis (see how pessimistic I am!) what questions should I ask? My husband had lung cancer, which metatastised to brain, bone, spine, and liver, and emphysema. He passed away 2 years ago, which has added to my stress. I have treied to quit smoking several times in the past, to no avail. I know that is the biggie to do, but what else? I have educated myself on-line as much as I can, but there isn't a lot of info out there to help in practical matters.
Avatar f tn It's difficult to say what someone should ask ....... whatever concerns her is what she should ask about. It's a good idea to write down any questions before a person sees the Dr. so nothing is forgotten. I'm guessing that you will be going with her which is also a good idea; an extra pair of ears can be very valuable as we often miss something that is said. I think she will have more questions after she sees the Surgeon and is advised as to the next step in the process.
Avatar f tn Hello every one ..so have a few questions to ask you. Ok so I've been with my bf for 4 years and we talked about marriage and children yesterday. And he said in about 8 years which would put him at 31 and me at 29 ...and I certainly do not want to wait that long. I want one by atleast 25 and married. How could we compromise.
329165 tn?1515471990 Hi all, I have a consult with the Surgeon in Adelaide (not the retired Surgeon, but his Associate) next week about getting a date for the Nissen Fund. and I have all my previous scopes and reports and everything ready and a bit anxious about it all when I read on here about people wanting to reverse Nissen Funds and complications and going for 3rd and 4th time!
Avatar f tn ) Tomorrow is my ultrasound and up to this point I have no details on my baby. Besides edd. What are good questions to ask as far as my babys growth and development?
Avatar m tn t had my eyes looked at since July) and I just thought it perhaps worth brainstroming to see what some sensible questions to ask her might be. My inclination at present is not to ask too much and just to let her get on with it. History if you remember - RD right eye 14 months ago following PVD. Aphakic in both eyes following complicated congenital cataract surgery. Brilliant outcome so far with the RD - no vision lost whatsoever and all entirely stable.
Avatar f tn Hi, i have recently discovered that i am 5 near 6 weeks pregnant and have to get an angiogram on tuesday. Is this safe? Will it effect the baby?
Avatar n tn Doctor said that there could be a problem with heart walves so, he suggested to do Angiogram. Are there alternatives to do Angiogram? Is it really required to do Angiogram? Please advise. Thanks, Padma.
Avatar m tn If there is an abnormality and they feel an angiogram is necessary, then I wouldn't argue. They know what they are doing. Imagine you have a 10 meter length of copper pipe which has a blockage somewhere. You can't see where the blockage is, so a radioactive contrast dye is injected into the pipe so it can flow through with the water. An x-ray is taken at regular intervals to see inside the pipe, because it picks up the dye.
Avatar m tn It is likely that your RCA will, or has already, developed collateral feeds which are tiny vessels that open up to act as a natural bypass. The RCA is very good at this. The only way to tell this, if not seen on the angiogram, is a nuclear scan. If you have developed collaterals in the RCA and have no problems in other vessels, then I would not have any intervention.
