angiogram

Avatar n tn If the nuclear testing doesnt show 100% and original angiogram showed some other blockage in one area of 75% =, could this cause the pain to still exist....The nitro has no effect in helping either.
Avatar m tn Not certain if this the right forum to get some questions answered. But here it goes. History of me and family.. 1) I am 34 years old in relative good shape. My father died at 40 from a heart attack. My brother at age 36 just had a heart attack (three arteries blocked, and one was small from birth, heart will be at 85 percent for rest of life). 2) I do have high cholesterol 220, and have been on medication since I was 23. No change. Diet is ok, but needs to change.
Avatar n tn how do i intepret an angiogram result? to know which is left or right? how to know if there is a block?
Avatar m tn If there is an abnormality and they feel an angiogram is necessary, then I wouldn't argue. They know what they are doing. Imagine you have a 10 meter length of copper pipe which has a blockage somewhere. You can't see where the blockage is, so a radioactive contrast dye is injected into the pipe so it can flow through with the water. An x-ray is taken at regular intervals to see inside the pipe, because it picks up the dye.
974371 tn?1424653129 t say we have the best doctors where I live. Anyway, I am afraid an angiogram will be ordered and I really do NOT want one of those done. No way could I get through that and understand they keep you awake? Wondering if there is an alternative and if anyone has had the angiogram done and what your experiences were.
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you have a CT angiogram, which will look not only at your heart but also at the aorta and lungs for possible causes of the chest pain. It is very unlikely at your age that you have obstructive atherosclerosiws, especially since the chest pain is not exertional, but you may have an anomalous coronary origin which can cause symptoms, and this would also be evaluated by the CT angiogram.
Avatar m tn Now Doctor has prescribed for Angiogram. He said he can suggest for treatment only after seeing the angiogram reports. Please help with your suggestion that whether we should go for angiogram. He is a diabetic patient since last 15 years and having high Blood pressure complaint since last 5 years.

1161780 tn?1266711844 In the end, however, it was a specific type of angiogram that ultimately confirmed my diagnosis of Coronary Microvascular Disease. I was given a Coronary Reactivity Test which is an angiography procedure specifically designed to examine the blood vessels in the heart and how they respond to different medications. Recently, both the Wall Street Journal and NPR posted some very convincing arguments as to why the traditional angiogram is no longer the ‘gold standard’ in heart testing.
Avatar m tn There are angiogram tests that inject a dye substance in the blood stream and the perfusion can be monitored by CT scan, cath, MRI. I had a CT scan a couple of years ago, and the report of the results commented on the blood flow through the implanted stent was as expected. Blood flow through the harvested grafts can be assessed as with any other vessel. Hope this answers your question. If you have any other questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
1702104 tn?1307226854 i had a heart attack in 2008 and in december 2010 i had an unstable angina attack after which my consultant sent me for an angiogram during the angiogram i was the 1 in 500 to suffer a cardiac arrest since then everytime i lie down to sleep my heart starts racing this last until i have been up and moving for 15 mins i then get a tightness in my chest its not painful just uncomfortable
182884 tn?1259312906 Hopefully you can get an angiogram that will answer all the questions you have. Remember, an angiogram is the best diagnostic tool, in my opinion, that the docs have, and it will reveal your situation.
1145423 tn?1261404857 They then plan to do the angiogram 4 days later tentivly. its after the angiogram we talk surgery right. and one more thing. I have been experiencing painbehind and on my eyes and sometimes my vision just dims...like sombody is dimming the lights. is this normal.
Avatar f tn Diagnosed with FMD about 2 weeks ago trying to find more anwsers keep coming up with more questions. 40 y/o female had 6 small strokes with very lttle permanent damage but what are the chances of FMD affecting other ateries?
Avatar f tn I also would like to know what kind of questions I should ask when I do see him, any suggestions would be appreciated. It has took longer than I thought to get over having the angiogram. Also would the angiogram show up anything except what is in the blood vessels?
Avatar n tn 1.The root path where the aorta meets the arteries, where the 60% blockage is. 2.Yes angiogram was done, My father had a heart attack and we rushed to the nearest hospital. The doctor found 100% blockage in right artery and went through a angioplasty for the right artery but while the angiogram he found 2 more blockage in left and main aorta.Doctor gave us two options first angioplasty and second bypass. As bypass is a megor oparetion so i think angioplasty is more suitable.
Avatar f tn Hello! If it were me or my mother, I'd say no and would just go for a heart catheterization/ angiogram instead. The stress test is to see if you have an cardiac changes when your heart is "challenged" by a workout. An angiogram or heart cath is the next step in the process. The stress tests can be either done by a treadmill or chemical induction but they carry the risk of making a heart attack happen or worsen it if it already in progress....
Avatar n tn The tenative diagnosis is BACNS, but they are not sure. I have not yet had a brain biopsy or a ct angiogram. I have been put on steriods and verapamil and have had no attacks in a month or so. I have been experiencing some slight numbness in my extremities ( random) and some light headaches/ dizziness from time to time. I am wondering if this is normal or I should be running to the doctor. What am I looking at as far as the prognosis ? Also, I live in Knoxville, Tenn.
Avatar n tn The results will usually be backed up with an angiogram. If the angiogram shows restricted vessels in that area, then the nuclear scan is confirmed and your heart muscle really needs intervention to be done. Was your ischemia present with your heart at rest during the scan or under stress? or both? If at stress only, then medication will usually be the first intervention, but if the ischemia is at rest, then probably a stent or bypass will be suggested.
Avatar f tn What are the informed, educated questions to ask and make the right decision on continuing meds vs stents vs redo bypass. My mother is a doctor and needs to ask the right questions to the surgeon and make informed, educated decision for my father.
Avatar f tn The heart DR wants me to have a CT angiogram to rule out heart disease and them might put me on a heart regulating medicine so I can go off the coumadin. Any ideas with all my other "stats" why my heart is acting up?
Avatar f tn When I originally had my MRV is showed narrowing of vessels on one side. So they scheduled me for an angiogram thinking I may have a blood clot. Well thank God it turns out that I did not and the angiogram was negative of any stenosis or any other findings. Which I assume is a good thing, right. Why would the MRV show one thing and the angiogram show another? Could the increased pressure be what made the vessels appear to be smaller on one side?
