Angiogram questions ask

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram questions ask

angiogram

Avatar m tn t be that way but it is. You must DEMAND to see the doctor and ask all the questions you need answered or maybe you need a new doctor. I kept asking and finally met with my surgeon for over an hour. As it was all new to me I asked for and met with a dietician as well. From my experience as a volunteer I can tell you that hereditary heart problems are the most dangerous and the most difficult to combat. the blockages you have are serious...don't wait on this to get worse.
974371 tn?1424653129 Thank you for the info. I see my doc today and see why he wants me to see a cardiologist. I'm a nervous wreck, waiting to have a heart attack and didn't sleep at all last night. Add to this, had to call an ambulance for my husband last week because he passed out and now we are trying to get his BP under control. Yes, I am scared.
Avatar n tn You could ask for a ct angiogram if you are worried, which is basically a non invasive scan. However, to answer your questions, the angiogram is very safe as far as invasive procedures go. The biggest risks are stroke and heart attack, but for this to happen the cardiologist would basically have to disturb a chunk of blockage material in the arteries with his catheter wire. It isn't really about odds, are you the likely or unlikely odd?
Avatar f tn Angiograms are the gold standard for seeing inside your coronary arteries and they can measure the blood flow rate/pressure anywhere in those arteries. After my 6th Angiogram, I had to ask them to start using my other leg because all the scar tissue was starting to get a bit painful with each new procedure. On a personal note, there is nothing to fear. It's better to remain calm and see the fascinating technology with awe.
Avatar n tn If the nuclear testing doesnt show 100% and original angiogram showed some other blockage in one area of 75% =, could this cause the pain to still exist....The nitro has no effect in helping either.
1145423 tn?1261404857 And I meet with my neurosurgen and neuroradiologist 30dec so i will be asking for your help in determing the right questions to ask. They then plan to do the angiogram 4 days later tentivly. its after the angiogram we talk surgery right. and one more thing. I have been experiencing painbehind and on my eyes and sometimes my vision just dims...like sombody is dimming the lights. is this normal.
Avatar f tn Hope this helps, if you have any further questions please feel free to ask. Take care.
Avatar f tn I cannot think of any doc that would purposely put you at risk because they would have zip to gain and everything to lose.......like MM said...get pro active, ask questions, ask how they will be prepared if something pops up....it is much better to know than to not know and live your life like that...good luck we;re here for you......
Avatar n tn how do i intepret an angiogram result? to know which is left or right? how to know if there is a block?
Avatar n tn I would also ask him for a copy of the diagram that doctors make following an angiogram, showing which arteries are blocked and by how much. That will give you the answers to ed34's questions, and he is one of the best people in the world to help you understand coronary artery issues. But I think that maybe some more discussion with your father's doctor would clear a lot of things up.
Avatar f tn What are the informed, educated questions to ask and make the right decision on continuing meds vs stents vs redo bypass. My mother is a doctor and needs to ask the right questions to the surgeon and make informed, educated decision for my father.
Avatar f tn You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure. Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.
Avatar n tn You could ask your cardiologist about maybe doing a high resolution CT scan. However, this also uses a radioactive isotope and I'm not sure what effects this could have on the kidneys.
Avatar m tn If there is an abnormality and they feel an angiogram is necessary, then I wouldn't argue. They know what they are doing. Imagine you have a 10 meter length of copper pipe which has a blockage somewhere. You can't see where the blockage is, so a radioactive contrast dye is injected into the pipe so it can flow through with the water. An x-ray is taken at regular intervals to see inside the pipe, because it picks up the dye.
Avatar m tn Strange how people ask questions here they should beasking a Doctor or a cardiologist. Your health is very important. So important that I would encourage you to consult your GP or cardiologist on this.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your detailed response. You are obviously well versed in all the possibilities. My CBC was perfect in April. My regular Dr is very thorough and I've never had a thyroid problem and only slight anemia when I was younger. I know the heart Dr immediately put me on the Coumadin (before all the testing) because of the reading from the Holter monitor and the possibility of blood clots. Same reason for the beta blocker.
Avatar f tn Stress test even w/dye is not always accurate. You can have a false negative. With your family history I would ask the Doc to do an angiogram or you can also go for a second opinoin. Just my thoughts. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
Avatar m tn Sorry to read that you are continuing to have the same problems. You ask some broad questions that I'll defer to others to respond. I know what a 64 slice CT is but do you mean cardiac cath/angiogram for tomorrow? Not another CT?? The doctors must be at the point that the only way to check out your coronaries is to do a cath in order to eliminate or find an answer for your pain.. That will give a definitive answer as to the state of those large heart vessels.
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you have a CT angiogram, which will look not only at your heart but also at the aorta and lungs for possible causes of the chest pain. It is very unlikely at your age that you have obstructive atherosclerosiws, especially since the chest pain is not exertional, but you may have an anomalous coronary origin which can cause symptoms, and this would also be evaluated by the CT angiogram.
Avatar f tn I also would like to know what kind of questions I should ask when I do see him, any suggestions would be appreciated. It has took longer than I thought to get over having the angiogram. Also would the angiogram show up anything except what is in the blood vessels?
Avatar m tn Now Doctor has prescribed for Angiogram. He said he can suggest for treatment only after seeing the angiogram reports. Please help with your suggestion that whether we should go for angiogram. He is a diabetic patient since last 15 years and having high Blood pressure complaint since last 5 years.
Avatar m tn I think another angiogram is your best option personally. It will show how clear your vessels are but ask them to do a FFR on your coronary arteries. This is a tiny sensor which gives the cardiologist the blood flow rate. Without this test, they are simply going by visual signs which is an inaccurate method. I would like to know what your BP was to lower your EF to 15%?
Avatar f tn It would seem that you have the symptoms of high blood pressure and your heart has been remodelling itself as a result. Your valves were fine from your last report. I am shocked at all your meds and verapamil was particularly intolerable for me. I would normally have high blood pressure, with the diastolic over 100, but just 2.5mg Ramapril twice daily keeps it fine. I think if you have shortness of breath, you need a repeat echo scan.
Avatar m tn Opening a blockage can cause the collaterals to close up and if the stent blocks, then there is no guarantee the collaterals will re-open to the extent they have. I would ask your cardiologist a lot more questions before agreeing to having any intervention.
Avatar m tn Iam 31, 2 Months before i got the chest pain and I immediately rushed to the hospital. They did the ECG and found little changes in V4 - V5. And I went through the angiogram. The angiogram results shows negative. And doctor discharged from hospital with some prescription for 3 months. Still I am getting the pain in center of chest. Two days before I went to doctor and in ECG found the V6 changes in the lead.
