Angiogram questions for doctor

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram questions for doctor

angiogram

Avatar n tn My doctor suggested an Angiogram to make sure that something is not being missed. I am a little nervous and thought someone could answer some questions I have? 1. Is this a fairly safe procedure? 2. What are the risks? 3. Do all the serious risk only happen during the procedure? 4. What are the risk 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours after the procedure, meaning how long before you know you are out of the risk zone? 5.
Avatar n tn I had a CT angiogram for heart this week. Compared to a regular angiogram or catheterization , the CT angiogram can be considered a noninvasive procedure. However, in your dad's case the CT angiogram may also be considered risky because of kidney problems. His kidneys may not be able to deal with the dye used for CT angiogram. I am not a doctor so here I am just giving advice based on my on experience.
Avatar m tn t be that way but it is. You must DEMAND to see the doctor and ask all the questions you need answered or maybe you need a new doctor. I kept asking and finally met with my surgeon for over an hour. As it was all new to me I asked for and met with a dietician as well. From my experience as a volunteer I can tell you that hereditary heart problems are the most dangerous and the most difficult to combat. the blockages you have are serious...don't wait on this to get worse.
Avatar n tn The doctor found 100% blockage in right artery and went through a angioplasty for the right artery but while the angiogram he found 2 more blockage in left and main aorta.Doctor gave us two options first angioplasty and second bypass. As bypass is a megor oparetion so i think angioplasty is more suitable. But wnat to make sure that should we go for an angioplasty in this condition or not. my father is 65 years old. Please suggest......
Avatar f tn Diagnosed with FMD about 2 weeks ago trying to find more anwsers keep coming up with more questions. 40 y/o female had 6 small strokes with very lttle permanent damage but what are the chances of FMD affecting other ateries?
Avatar m tn Angiography after the stress test, echo, etc. in all likelihood is to do stent implant. The stress test involves viewing the perfusion of blood flow (contrast agent injected), and apparently there was some vessel occlusions that effected blood flow. The perfusion is viewed with exertion and at rest.
974371 tn?1424653129 Ok, I haven't even seen a cardiologist yet. Actually, I've had chronic mouth and throat problems no doctor is able to diagnose. In the mean time, I've been complaining of a *hard* heart beat for a while. My doc, as usual, attributes it to nerves. I mentioned it yet again so he finally sent me for a halter monitor and an ECHO treadmill stress test. I knew I didn't do to well on the stress test.
Avatar n tn Yes, a 75% occlusion can cause angina (chest pain), however, nitro should dilate coronary vessels enough to avoid any angina! An angiogram is more reliable source for detecting blockage than a stress test...but neither are 100%.
Avatar m tn A cath angiogram revealed 80-90% blockage on my left anterior artey (LAD). I am a 52 years old man , No diabetic, No Hi-blood pressure. No any pain on my chest. I am active, go to the gym and in full time job. Stenting or Bi-pass, What is best treatment for my 80-90% LAD Blockage ?
Avatar m tn Now Doctor has prescribed for Angiogram. He said he can suggest for treatment only after seeing the angiogram reports. Please help with your suggestion that whether we should go for angiogram. He is a diabetic patient since last 15 years and having high Blood pressure complaint since last 5 years.
Avatar f tn I added the new drugs to my list of questions for my doctor -- thanks for the added info too. Some days it's just totally overwhelming!
Avatar n tn how do i intepret an angiogram result? to know which is left or right? how to know if there is a block?
Avatar m tn Many cardiologists seem to prefer angiogram. I've had both a ct angio and an angiogram and I didn't feel any difference between the two. I still had the same burning sensations from the dye etc in both procedures. I did look at the images from both scans and the angiogram shows everything in real time, actually working. You see the blood flowing, you see the heart pumping and you see the reactions of the arteries. With the ct angio all I saw was a set of still pictures.
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
1161780 tn?1266711844 From my experience discussing the same questions with my doctor, it would seem that the microvessels are just too small for any surgical repair. I was told medication is the only way (currently) available for treatment. However, if you find yourself in this predicament, I would highly recommend talking to your doctor about switching up your meds. I've been mixing and matching my meds now for three years and have finally come up with a dose that works for me.
Avatar n tn I thought about asking the EP-ologist if he was also going to look for chest pain causes during the cath. Would this be standard? would it be inconvenient or unreasonable for me to request this? Would he also measure the pulmonary pressure without going out of the way? Any other thoughts or tests I should have? Help?
Avatar m tn I am not going to comment on your "abnormal ECG", but I doubt that your neck pain is heart related. Why? Because I have exactly the same problem. During an MRI they noticed a slight protrusion of the C4. Not enough to warrant surgery, but enough to cause problems such as you describe. When you consider that you walk with your legs and not your neck, it's hard to believe, but that's what it is.
Avatar n tn After a cardigraph treadmill test I'm being referred for angiogram - I'm going on holiday in two weeks with a 3 hour flight. Should I travel?
Avatar f tn I also would like to know what kind of questions I should ask when I do see him, any suggestions would be appreciated. It has took longer than I thought to get over having the angiogram. Also would the angiogram show up anything except what is in the blood vessels?
Avatar n tn hey my dad is suppose to go in for an angiogram but he fears what might happen to him if he does. i was wondering if there was possible any alternative procedure or something else he could possibly do.
Avatar f tn What are the informed, educated questions to ask and make the right decision on continuing meds vs stents vs redo bypass. My mother is a doctor and needs to ask the right questions to the surgeon and make informed, educated decision for my father.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your detailed response. You are obviously well versed in all the possibilities. My CBC was perfect in April. My regular Dr is very thorough and I've never had a thyroid problem and only slight anemia when I was younger. I know the heart Dr immediately put me on the Coumadin (before all the testing) because of the reading from the Holter monitor and the possibility of blood clots. Same reason for the beta blocker.
