Angiogram of lower bowel

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram of lower bowel

angiogram

Avatar m tn Ischemic colitis is the result of blood flow to the bowel being interrupted in some way. If that's what is going on it could very well occur transiently and can be difficult to pinpoint. When ischemic colitis is present, the doc should be checking into blood flow to the bowel, so angiogram type studies of the bowel. If it is ischemic colitis, you need to make sure you don't get dehydrated and check any medications you are taking for the possibility to form blood clots.
Avatar m tn A faster heartbeat does not provide enough time to fill as at rest, and the timing of contractions are less. The percent of blood pumped with each heartbeat is less reducing stroke volume (lower EF). The heart rate has increased to provide the necessary blood/oxygen to meet the system's demand for the diminished stroke volume. The CT scan indicates there is substanital soft plaque buildup within the linings of the vessels.
Avatar m tn I have been told today that my Left Lower part of my heart has a reading of 49% and I will be sent for a further tests in 2 - 3 weeks time. Can this reading cause a heart attack? I am a 60 year old man living alone.
Avatar f tn Doc said he should be happy to hear that but Rob doesnt feel that way knowing the colon to his large bowel has to be removed. CT angiogram in the next few days...will know appointment today then if this is correct (as biopsies show this) then in for surgery. The left colon is dead and he has Iscemic Colonitis. The Doc explined that it is the same as the heart....when the heart doesnt get enough oxygen and blood supply then it dies off ...this being the case with the left colon.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a double bypass in May 2011, three months ago and in the past two weeks i am getting very intense chest pain like i had before the surgery. I am having an angiogram in 5 days time and i am worried as they cannot put stents in because i am on Warfarin (Comadum} and they cannot give me another blood thinner for the platlets as they do when they put in stents. I have just turned 60. Thanks a mill!
776302 tn?1241091853 My friend was rushed to the emergency room following a rash of violent vomiting. Long story short she had an angiogram procedure done, she felt a pain in her chest and went into cardiac arrest. after 35 minutes she was brought back. The doctor said she had 2 blood clots and it magically disappeared and no surgery was needed. She is up and very well. She feels that the angiogram caused her heart to stop.
649848 tn?1534633700 My pcp *insisted* that I was hyper because of my low TSH and demanded that I allow him to lower my med -- I went ahead and let him write the script because I have been alternating 88 mcg with 75 mcg and was running out of both - I had just enough to get me to the date of my blood work, which was last Wed. He wrote me a script for 75 mcg, so I am now taking that until I see my endo on the 18th, but I also upped my cytomel by 2.5 mcg.............
359574 tn?1328360424 My 5 mm annie on the internal carotid has the ophthalmic artery coming out the side of it. The doctor who did my angiogram told me it wasn't treatable through endovascular means like coiling because it would cut off blood to the eye. The surgeon also told me a craniotomy and clipping is riskier than leaving it alone and monitoring it. At my one year follow-up, the CT Angiogram showed no changes.
Avatar m tn Depending on the result of MRI, may require PCI of circumflex and LAD, or CABG. Is this an indication that two or more of my arteris are blocked. Since the angiogram, I frequently get minor chest pains without stress.
Avatar n tn ve said before, all procedures carry some element of risk but some are obviously much lower than others. Angiograms are about the lowest you can get, but by law you have to be warned you could end up with a stroke or other organ damage if some plaque is knocked out of place. There is also the risk that the coronary artery being viewed can suddenly close up when 'tickled' by the catheter, but this is very rare indeed.
Avatar n tn The link to ANGIOGRAM at the bottom of your post gives a doctor's information about an angiogram with a cath (intervention) that is threaded through a vessel to your heart. Takes about an hour and a surgical doctor will be on standby in the event there is a puncture, etc. My complaint is an interventional cardiologists is inclined to implant stents during the procedure.
Avatar f tn You will also be given a few pills before the procedure, to thin your blood and lower the risk of clotting. In the UK we are given around 600mg of Plavix, That's 8x75mg pills, but some countries give 300mg. If you have any questions about the procedure, please ask, we have lots of experience to share. I promise you, nothing hurts and it is over before you know it.
Avatar n tn They did an ECHO stress test and found some blockage in the back of my heart. They then requested me to do an Angiogram for them to see better in to my heart. I did and I was sent home after 4 hours. They said I am OK. Thats all. I saw my cardios letter while I was with my own GP.
Avatar f tn 8 years ago he had his first angiogram d/t tightening in the throat symptoms upon exersion. His angiogram at that time showed a very small occlusion in the lower aspect of the heart- resulting in the stable angina. The lastest angiogram also revealed "new arteries" had formed and have compensated for the blockage somewhat. My question is : with 100% blockage and reduced blood flow as stated in the report from the angiogram should a stent not be looked at?
Avatar f tn s office called late yesterday and said that there was an area in the lower part of the heart that did not light up the way it should have. He is having an angiogram/cardiac catheterization with possible insertion of a stent on Friday.
Avatar n tn I waited on my fiancé during his angiogram, 1 hour of waiting and 3 hours of supervising from the nurses then home we went
Avatar m tn my sister has been suffering from painful right lower quadrant of the abdomen for the last two years. doctors have not found any abnormalities. some of the syptoms that she has are the following: Vomiting, nausea, irregular menstrual cycle, bloating and gas, dizziness, painful belly button. she visited a gynaecologist and she could not diagnose the illness. please, what could that be ? any recommendations??
Avatar n tn To follow up and close out - my throacic surgeon followed up with the doctors doing the angiogram and made it clear that he only wanted the angiogram done. (I might mention that my thoracic surgeon is one of the top in the world.) And, as the angiogram turned out, I have absolutely no blockage at all - zip, nil, none. (This to the absolute disgust of my wife who nags at me incessantly for putting so much butter on pancakes or 1/2 and 1/2 on my cereal.
Avatar f tn I have had pain in the same part of my descending colon since I was 13. I was told I have IBS but in the last 2 years I get the pain 20 minutes after every meal. In the last year I have started to get the pain and feel so nauseous I vomit. It just has progresively gotten worse and I am tired of the pain. I take fiber and laxaives as needed for constipation. I don't know what else to do. Doctors never listen.
Avatar m tn Is the angiogram of leg advisable for the patients suffering from diabetics and foot ulcer? Please do reply for my question....
Avatar f tn Diffuse Soft plaques seen in mid RCA causing moderate narrowing of its LUMEN.Catheter Coronary Angiogram Recommended. No other significant abnormality Now my father is adamant for not having catheter coronary angiogram done. Would 2D Echo - cardiogram with doppler help. He takes walk and has medicines prescribed by cardiac regularly alongwith ayurvedic medicines. PLEASE HELP!
Avatar f tn First of all, you say he has no symptoms? was this also the case during the stress echo when angina was produced? When the heart was stressed, it was seen that the lower part of the heart had hardly any movement, which means it's impaired. I have no idea what "fair LV systolic function" means? If this was my heart, I would be looking for a bit more than medication. Even before max heart rate the lower part of the heart has impaired wall movement.
Avatar m tn - Is it typically an interventional cardiologist that does the initial cath and angiogram of lower extremities and legs in the process of treating peripheral artery disease that causes leg or calf cramping? I've had an ultra sound evaluation and the pain of claudication when exercising indicates I have it.
Avatar n tn We have to remember that an Echo can carry up to 10% error in EF calculation. This is why not many cardiologists seem concerned if it's above a certain level. This has been proved time and time again when patients have an Angiogram or other type of scan after an echo. 7 weeks on a beta blocker isn't long enough? I don't know exactly what they mean by this and what they are hoping to achieve from the beta blocker.
Avatar m tn I actually did all that and the result of an Angiogram was a small stent in the right lower coronary artery, about two months ago. The Treadmill Stress Test came out fine and there wasn’t any sign of the symptoms I typically suffer when exerting myself however, the treadmill test was only exerting the lower portion of my body. The Angiogram/Stent came after the Stress Test. After the Stent they did an Echocardiogram (non-stress) and it was Ok.
Avatar m tn Hello, The various possibilities which present with such pain in the lower left abdomen are diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, bowel obstruction, ovarian cysts and pelvic inflammatory disease, irritable bowel syndrome , kidney obstruction or pyelonephritis, psoas abscess , hernia and volvolus (twisting of the sigmoid part of the large bowel on itself). Investigations like ultrasound abdomen, CT abdomen and colonoscopy are required to confirm a diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Lower back pain, in conjunction with loss of bladder or bowel control, may be cauda equina syndrome (CES), which results when an injury, illness or degenerative condition exerts pressure on the cauda equina, a bundle of nerves at the base of the spinal column. Is your Physician aware of these bowel SX? If not you need to make me/her aware of it asap. Don't wait. CES can be an emergency condition and needs immediate care.
