Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram lungs

angiogram

678571 tn?1228012270 I usually go to a cardiologist in another city. But my cardiologist could not perform my scheduled angiogram. My symptoms before this angiogram were chest pain with exertion of any kind. After this angiogram, I have had blood pressure problems, breathing problems, dry cough, shortness of breath and all the other symptoms that my cardiologist wanted me to do an angiogram for. He had said that if I needed an other stent put in. I would need a bypass even though I have small vessels.
Avatar n tn Went to family physician who was concerned and suggested nuclear stress test or CAT angiogram and gave me a choice. He ruled out blood work to look for enzymes. He told me the CAT would require prior insurance approval and recommended nuclear stress test. Like the EKG's I am sure that nothing will show up on the stress test. Should I save the insurance co pays etc and go straight to CAT angiogram? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn Pulmonary circulation disorder – Inability of the body to pull oxygen from the lungs into the bloodstream ( blood clot in lungs, pulmonary vascular disease, scarring in the lungs, heart failure). This shoud have already been done with the tests you have had! So, does the doctor want to do further testing for pulmonary embolism? _____________________ >>>>Has a chronotropic incompetence been considered?
Avatar m tn Fluid in lungs (if excessive enough to cause symptoms like yours) will usually be easily detected with a standard chest x-ray. Do you have a cough?
Avatar f tn I have had a ct scan angiogram and cath. My ct scan was more inclusive as it took images of the lungs, heart and thorax. It showed the complete anatomy of the heart vessels that included any soft plaque within the lining of the vessel. The ct software scored the soft plaque and evaluated the risk of a rupture. It also discloses any hard plaque within the lumen (vessel channel). The cath views the lumen for plaque, and has the ability to determine gradient pressures of chambers and vessels..
776302 tn?1241091853 I just heard about the Seimens Sensation 64 slice CT scanner test as an accurate alternative to the angiogram. It is non-invasive and the angiogram is invasive and may have serious side effects. Is this type of scanner really as accurate as an angiogram? Please let me know.
Avatar m tn 2 pulmonologists at 2 different hospitals have told me that my lungs are fine. Is there anything that they could have missed? I had x-rays done, stethoscopes applied to my chest and back, EKG wires attatched, and I even had a CT angiogram done before in the ER, which I 90% trust (towards the end of the examination I had a very severe reaction to the iodine contrast). Is there anything else that they can check? They say my lungs are fine. Where could they have gone wrong, if they did?
Avatar n tn They have done most of the tests on the heart and lungs i.e. echo, ct scans, xrays and even a angiogram and all coming back normal. They don't have me on anything and can't give me an answer.
Avatar f tn Sounds to me that you need to have an angiogram to find out exactly what is going on with your heart. There could be plugged arteries or arteries just spasming from the cholesterol build up which will cause chest pain, feeling like you are having an heart attack. Also, the angiogram will tell the real truth how your valves are doing. Echo's are just a tool and sometimes the angiogram comes up with something totally different than what was thought on the Echo.
Avatar m tn Any lesions greater than 70% can be problematic, and your in law has extensive coronary valve disease. Was the artery evaluation made with a cath or was the angiogram CTscan or MUGA. It seems if the angiograph with a cath there would have been stent implants in the areas of major occlusions? Thanks for sharing, and if you have any followup questions you are welcome to respond.
Avatar n tn Arteries supplying the Lungs and the general function of your lungs? You sit in front of a machine with a skuba diving type apparatus on your mouth and a computer analyses your lung functions.
Avatar m tn The doctor said there is a very very mild change in the stress test and considering my family history (2 of my fathers younger brothers died due to heart attack) suggested for an invasive angiogram to rule out any possibility of a heart problem. He also added it need not be done immediately but may in period of 2 to 3 months. With the above can anyone tell me how serious is my problem is and how fast should i det done the angiogram. Should i go for invasive or non invasive.
Avatar f tn Now they says to take angiogram test. Please let me know whether angiogram is necessary in this stage as already she takes treatment for lungs she is more weak in health wise. We are confused....Please guide how to proceed...Currently the doctor gave this tablets for ten days: dopah, tonact, cordarone tablets..
Avatar n tn The only test that is the most certain except for open heart surgery is the angiogram. The angiogram will give a very good indication as to what is going on. You are female so your hormones should protect you against heart disease or at least help protect you. When you go through menopause, the LDL levels will rise quickly. Usually, that it when the problems begin for women. I would think with the cholesterol medication you could get your LDL under control. Your LDL should be down to 100.
Avatar n tn I had an angiogram and my doctor said my left coronaries were about 20% blocked. My non-dominant right coronary artery is about 70-80% blocked but the doctor left me a voice mail saying that stenting was not called for because the right coronary supplies blood to the right ventricle which pumps blood into the lungs (a low pressure area). My question is: why would stenting be uncalled for, why not fix the problem?
Avatar m tn The upper left side chamber (atrium) receives blood from the lungs to be pumped into circulation and is enlarged. The enlargement can be due to the thickened walls of the lower chamber and that condition will increase the pressure the left atrium (LV) pumps against. As a consequence the left atrium enlarges. Q: MILD REDUCED L.V SYSYTOLIC FUNCTION LVEF- 45 TO 50 % >>>>>>>Left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) is the percentage of blood pumped with each heartbeat.
Avatar n tn Echocardiograms are not always accurate. It is one tool that is used. Have you had an angiogram? If not, please do so. An angiogram tells it all and the diagnosis may be far off from the echocardiogram results. Your symptoms sound serious to me. Once blood pressure drops down very low, the liver starts failing. Not everyone gets chest pain with heart failure. Heart failure symptoms are right side water retention in legs and abdomen.
Avatar f tn I just can’t flow the air inside my lungs well and something is tightening my lungs and constricting my airway flow. Talking in full sentences is hard and I have arm weakness. Pre existing conditions: Sinus Tachycardia. Symptoms there even when my heart is on the low side though.
Avatar m tn I've heard some athletes have asthma. How do they do it? When I was really young (9-10 years old) the doctors told me I had Asthma, but I think I must've grown out of it or something. Anyways, recently I've had some breathing issues. I've been through all the EKGs, had a CT angiogram, and visited the Pulmonologist, so that means I've been told whatever I may have is not super serious. If I do have some asthma though, it may be more exercise induced. What do athletes do?
Avatar n tn I have an EF of 40%, pretty good, but also have Congestive Heart Failure because of heart enlargement from high pressures within the heart, and have trouble with fluid build-up in the lungs. An annual Angiogram should be mixed in you your yearly planning, in my opinion.
Avatar m tn I HAVE AN UNRUPTURED 5 MM BRAIN ANEURYSM WHICH APPEARED FOLLOWING A ROUTINE MRA SCAN FOLLOWING OPEN HEAD BRAIN SURGERY TO REMOVE A NON CANCEROUS TUMOUR ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO THE LAST SCAN 15 MONTHS SHOWED NOTHING - MY NEUROSURGEON WANTS ME TO HAVE A DIGITAL SUBTRACTION ANGIOGRAM TO CARRY OUT A MORE DETAILED EVALUATION. HOW DANGEROUS IS THIS TYPE OF SCAN. I KNOW IT HAS IN RISKS IN RELATION TO STROKES ETC., I AM 63 YEARS OF AGE.
Avatar n tn t my muscles or lungs. I went to the ER where I was whisked into a cath lab and told that I had major blockages, 90-95% in my Right Coronary Artery, left descending artery, as well as my left circumflex. In the first procedure the night I came in, the right and left arteries were stented. Two days later, the doctor attempted, but failed to open my circumflex. (He got so mad he threw a chair) I was told he needed 15 minutes, ultimately he never finished that.
Avatar m tn QUOTE: In echo there were only two impressions: 1. Diastolic relaxations abnormally and 2. mitral trivial regugation. and some medicines were advised. it has 5 10 days gone and my father is feeling well however he is feeling weakness also. Diastolic is the filling phase of the heart cycle.
Avatar m tn He was told he has CHF with multiple leaky valves. We have since found out he has interstitial lung disease, scarring on his lungs, fluid in the wall of his lung. Today we found out he has a potential 70% or more blockage of his mesenteric arteries in his abdomen. He is on oxygen and very weak. He is in a lot of pain. If he would need surgery to repair this mesenteric blockage would he survive? I am concerned!! Thank you in advance for any thoughts.
Avatar f tn Hi, Im 43 and recently went for a treadmill test as i experience throat tightening upon excertion. the result showed significant changes in my st depression and im due to go for an angiogram in december. the cardiologist has put me on tablets and aspirin and given me a spray to relieve symptoms. my gp tells me i am at risk of heart attack. could they have this wrong?
Avatar f tn They life flighted her to a bigger hospital. They did a angiogram finding no blockage. Which made them to believe she might of had a blood clot. She was on a respirator for a few days. They tried to take her off but she went into heart failure again. Which caused her lungs to fill up again. a couple days later she was able to be put on a bpap machine and then from there just oxygen. but again her lungs filled up again. her heart is very weak.
